How/where do you do the border crossing paperwork?

So now I’m curious as to how the US/Canada border works. It says that the bridge gives uninterrupted freeway traffic flow, but wouldn’t the international border require interruption? How does border crossing work with a bridge like this?

As long as you can accept that many people don’t want to see Potter memes and can accept a little pushback, you’ll be doing better than most folk.

They’re also front ends. They don’t give you a single universal fediverse account that crosses fediverse platforms

And I’m going to pushback against that. In this case, it was a single line snarky comment that referenced the meme in question. In response, I got 5 or so responses from people, each of them multi paragraph long, insisting on telling me just how it’s actually ok to post Rowling stuff.

And from my perspective, if you’re ok enough with Rowling to not say anything when a Rowling meme is posted, you should also be ok enough with someone posting a snarky one liner in pushback against it.

But if folk are ok with a meme that entrenches the relevance of a virulent transphobe, but a snarky response to that meme warrants a multi paragraph response, then it might be time to re-evaluate priorities…

If it were against the rules, I’d have reported it.

Instead, I made a snarky comment, because even though it’s not against the rules, the less Rowling in the world, the better.

In theory, it’s perfect, and just what I think the fediverse should be, but it’s terrible to run as an admin.

In the same light as #1, I don’t know which admin it was, but after the dbzer0/nexus admins were calling for one of LW’s admins to be murdered, one of the blahaj admins endorsed .nexus and had the gall to call it “well moderated”. That endorsement from blahaj was NOT present prior to that incident. Again, not sure which admin that was, but only admins can issue endorsements, so it was one of them.

Ok, this sounds like you’re talking about fediseer.

.nexus had an admin with a byline calling for “death to zionists”. When called out, rather damage their community and risk defederation that would impact their user base, the admin in question stepped down.

That’s what good moderation looks like.

Despite the admin in question stepping down, there was still a push from several large instances to defederate .nexus over the events. We then endorsed them on fediseer to show solidarity with them in response to the ongoing calls to defederate them, because they did the right thing by their community and were still being dragged over the coals for it.

Edit - And it’s also worth pointing out that none of this content was created by blahaj users, nor posted on blahaj communities. The endorsement wasn’t made or even visible on lemmy, but exists on a 3rd party admin focused moderation tool (fediseer). If this is the sum total of my “looking the other way”, I put it to you that blocking an entire instance of queer users is perhaps not the best way of addressing our difference of opinion

Both Ada and CupcakeZealot (Jessica I think?) continuously look the other way when any blahaj users call for violence.

Even if I wanted to leave calls to violence up, I wouldn’t, because they put our whole instance at risk of a takedown from our hosting provider.

So I can say to you genuinely, that I struggle to understand this take.

The only thing I can think is that you are equating people being ok with punching Nazis and people making memes when a transphobe dies as being calls to violence. If those are what you mean by calls to violence, then yeah, I guess I’m guilty as charged. I would say to you though, that blocking a trans instance for not responding to transphobia in a way that you personally agree with is in poor taste.

Edit - It’s also worth pointing out, that you didn’t just block blahaj.zone, but you blocked me specifically on both my lemmy and piefed accounts. Even if you instance blocked blahaj.zone because think that I as an admin have been “looking the other way”, it seems odd that you’ve blocked my personal accounts on top of that, because that implies you have some specific issues with my behaviour above and beyond “looking the other way”. I’d be curious to know what that is.
