Privacy@lemmy.ml•Paperweight scans your inbox to map your digital footprint, then helps you take back control and delete your data. Local-first and open source.English
2·3 months agoThis was on a custom domain, and I started off with xyz-1@domain.com, and when it became saturated I moved to -2, -3, etc. But then got lazy and used my current ‘version’ to sign up for things I’d want to keep, not just any old random stuff. So now it’s a mix, and much better ways of doing that exist, like +tagging and hide-my-email services.
I even wondered about setting up a catch-all account on the domain so I can just invent them on the fly, and then when one becomes spammy, create an ‘actual’ account as a spamhole.

1·3 months agoI have a question—I suspect the answer is yes even if indirectly, but thought I’d ask in case you already thought of this. I have many email addresses, and one in particular is the source of lots of spam. Unfortunately it’s also one I’ve used to login to many services I actually use so I can’t easily delete it. Can I use Paperweight to make a list of services I need to go change my email on before consigning my 20+ year old address to the bin?

Mlem for Lemmy@lemmy.ml•Weird threading when opening comments from inboxEnglish
1·3 months agoHere’s an example. This is my ‘inbox’ view of the post. I replied to the comment by @haverholm. But my reply appears way below as if to a totally different comment.

Mlem for Lemmy@lemmy.ml•UI ‘stuck’ when editing a commentEnglish
1·3 months agoIt’s similar to that first one except I wasn’t able to make any change until I locked my phone and unlocked it again. There may have been other solutions but I couldn’t find them quickly.

Mlem for Lemmy@lemmy.ml•[FR] More options for media viewerEnglish
2·3 months agoHmm. I wasn’t seeing that functionality when I last checked. Does it depend on the type of video? I’ll look out for something suitable to share.
Edit: so I found a video and it worked :). However, once the controls are shown by scrubbing, I can’t see a way to get rid of them, so yes it probably does need the old ‘tap’ behaviour.
Ah thanks I did not realise that. I’ll try that but of course I wouldn’t realise it’s an issue until I’ve seen 2 or 3 of the same post and by then that could be all the crossposts…
An option for that to be automatic would be fantastic if possible.
This normally applies to microscopic particles, but it’s been shown that the spin of a USB-A plug is 1/√2 and the fact this could be taught and demonstrated in schools is why we all have to move to USB-C now.
I’m not a moneyologist, but I think that’s describing market economy rather than capitalism. ME is older and can solve some things that capitalism doesn’t.
In the ‘garbage / sewage’ scenario, you might be willing to do those things (ie not forced) in exchange for something else consider more valuable to you. No ownership is required for that.

Mlem for Lemmy@lemmy.ml•Image controls show when dragging zoomed image by small amountEnglish
1·4 months agoMy preference (which I think I put in the original post) was single tap while zoomed should reset zoom. Then dismiss becomes ‘tap, swipe’ and can be almost instantaneous.
That seems—mislabelled? I’ll find the post on my alt account and see. Thanks!
Edit: yes it was indeed a blocked user. Perhaps it should be a different ui element there in this such cases?

Yes it’s more the image viewer I was referring to not the feed view. I worked a bit with the Arctic developer to get it just how I like it, so I guess I’m a bit biased :) But I’ll write it up and see what others think.
I use GitHub a lot so happy to post there. And I’ll post here re ideas. My biggest ‘miss’ from Arctic was the excellent image handling (from a UX perspective). I think they had that just right and would love to see it work that way on Mlem.
