AXIS Dance Company’s annual summer intensive is in-person in 2026. We invite disabled, non-disabled, neurodivergent, and d/Deaf adult dancers and movement practitioners from around the world to engage, share and learn from one another in an inclusive and accessible environment. Over five days, participants will learn new skills in three different modules derived from the company’s working ethos and repertoire that will enhance and develop their own practice in improvisation, choreography and performance, and dance education. Our two-module teacher training provides professional dance educators and experienced artists the chance to enhance their skills and working methods in inclusive dance and translation for more inclusive pedagogic practices.
Dates for the 2026 Summer Intensive will be July 13th-18th (Monday-Saturday) held at the UC Berkeley Bancroft Studio.
Applications Close: April 26th, 2026 at 11:59pm PST
“All my life I have wanted to dance. It is the first desire I remember having: to dance. And yet I have been discouraged (from a very early age) my entire life. I have been fortunate to find little respites with similar inclusive dance companies but nothing in my experience has come close to what AXIS achieves (and in such a very short time.” – 2025 Summer Intensive Participant
