Welcome Baby Cole!

Cole Trenton Jessee came into this world and joined our family on August 1st!  He weighed in at a whopping 9 pounds 7 ounces and was 22 inches long.  He was due July 29th, so he was 3 days overdue.    I had a Dr. appointment on my due date and they said he wasn't even close to coming.  They wouldn't even talk about inducing me because  I wasn't dilated at all.  Sad to hear when you are ready to pop!  My doctor requested that I do a NST (Non Stress Test) to make sure the baby was doing okay since I was going past my due date.  I went in for the test on the 31st.  Basically they just hook you up to a machine and monitor the baby's heart and make sure he's ok.  Then they do a detailed ultrasound to make sure there's enough fluid around him.  During the heart monitoring his heart rate dipped twice while I was having some Braxton Hicks so they sent me to Labor and Delivery to be monitored for another hour and a half.  It didn't happen again, but after many phone calls to my doctor they decided to induce the next day just to play it safe.  I was the first one on the induction schedule...it was real. We were finally having this baby!  I had always thought the whole element of surprise of when your baby was coming was super exciting, but honestly, knowing this was going to happen in the morning was equally exciting.  I'm going to see if they'll induce me early with my next one...no more of this being overdue stuff :).  They called us in the morning at 6:30 and told us it was time.  The nurse who called apparently called the wrong number and thought I was another nurse and said, "we need you come in today love."  I thought it was the actual induction call, so I was getting all ready to come in (though it was a little odd she called me love :).  Then she called me back and apologized...she'd been up all night...but it really was time for us to come in :) Too funny!  We dropped Trey off at Dale's parents and headed to the hospital.  We were so excited to have this baby!

Dale took detailed notes of when everything happened, thankfully since I was a little preoccupied ;).  We got to the hospital at 7:35.  I think they started me on pitocin right away.  That stuff works wonders for me.  When i arrived I was still only a fingertip dilated, but give me a little of that magic medicine and things get moving pretty quickly.

The nurses I had during labor kinda freaked me out...well, to be fair only 1 of them.  She had been a nurse for a long time but she was just starting in labor and delivery and she didn't really seem to know what she was doing.  Luckily the other nurse was there to oversee everything and she was super knowledgeable.

They broke my water at 9:41, which hurried things along.  They told me to let them know when I was ready for the epidural.  I told them when the pain was just starting to get bad, but there was a wait for the anesthesiologist.  By the time he made it in at 10:30 I was in so much pain.  I vowed right then and there to get the epidural right away with my next one...none of this waiting until the pain gets bad :).  Once I got that beautiful epidural things were a breeze.  The only problem we ran into was that he was posterior, so they wanted to turn him before we delivered.  They had me lay on my side for awhile with my leg propped up in the air, and then we switched sides and I laid the other way.  I was completely shocked, but turned!  It was amazing to think that just the way I was laying made a difference.  Once he moved we were ready to rock and roll!  I started pushing at 12:35 PM and he was born at 12:47.  I only had to push through 4 contractions, which was amazing because my epidural was much stronger this time.  With Trey I could still feel the contractions, I just couldn't feel any pain.  This time I couldn't feel the contractions at all.  I could hardly tell if I was pushing.  They just kept telling me to do the same thing I was doing.  Once he was born they handed him to me right away once again, which I loved :).

I was shocked to hear how much he weighed- I had a feeling he would be bigger, but I didn't know he would show Trey up by an entire pound!  Everyone kept commenting on how big he was...crazy!

The Big 3-0

I have to brag for a minute...I have the sweetest hubby ever.  He spent a lot of time and put forth a ton of effort to make my 30th birthday special.  I couldn't have asked for more :).

We knew I couldn't do a lot on my birthday because I was so incredibly pregnant.  My due date was only 2 days after :).  So we decided to keep it simple- Dale took me to dinner the night before at Goodwood, which was delicious, while his parents watched Trey for us.  Trey LOVES his grandparents :).

My actual birthday fell on a Sunday this year so we celebrated twice :).  Dale snuck home for a few minutes during Sunday School and blew up 60 balloons and hung a birthday banner.  When we got home the first thing he did was spray me with silly string- classic Dale :).  Then he and Trey spoiled me with presents, a delicious Nothing Bundt cake (my favorite!), and then low and behold Dale pulled out a Pinata!  It's surprisingly hard to hit a pinata when you are pregnant...there's something about the ginormous watermelon out front that throws off your balance :).  In the end neither Trey or I could crack it open, so Dale went at it.  He showed no mercy.  Trey was in treat heaven.  He was gathering candy with the speed of lightning and was so sad when we wouldn't let him eat it all.

Dale also made dinner that night- and it wasn't an easy recipe.  He made homemade lasagna all by himself :).  It was delicious!  My boys sure spoiled me!

Pin and necklace, compliments of Dale :)
I laughed until I cried when I saw this card.  It was an accurate representation of how I felt.  The cat is ginormous!

Spoiled Mommy!  Don't you love the fun birthday hat? :)

Trey is 3!

Trey turned 3 this year...it's crazy how fast he is growing up.  He is constantly surprising us by the things he says and does.

We took him to the aquarium for his 3rd birthday.  Dean, Arrianne and their kiddos joined us.  It was fun to see all the exhibits and animals, but let's be honest.  Trey mostly just loved running around.

After the aquarium we went back to our place and had some delicious cake and ice cream and opened presents.  We were beat afterwards :).  Naps all around!

Fun facts about 3 year old Trey:
- He loves to be read to.
- Favorite color: red, green, and blue (then he said all the colors)
- Favorite food: yogurt, granola, rice, noodles
- Favorite toys: hotwheels cars
- Favorite TV show: Curious George
- He loves to run.
- He is talking a lot more.
- He is getting ready to be a big brother soon...he gives "baby Cole" huggies and kissies
- He prays all by himself...one day I was about go help him and he jumped in all by himself.  Now he's to the point where he adds random things to his prayers- pie, cars, Uncle Jared, Aunt Janae, Uncle Paul, Aunt Becca...and whatever else he decides to throw in the mix.
- He is very independent- everything is "Trey do it" or "I do it by myself".
- He's starting preschool soon and is super excited!

6 Years!

Dale and I have been married for 6 years!  We celebrated our anniversary by going to Kneaders for breakfast, and then heading over to Herriman a Days to the fair.  It was cloudy but still so hot!  I thought I was going go die...and we parked so far away because of the parade and all the blocked off roads.  It was all worth it though because Dale and Trey got to pet an alligator :).

That night Dale's parents watched Trey for us and we went to dinner at Goodwood, one of our favorite restaurants.  I branched out and tried something new- I think the Cobb Salad, and it was incredible.  My new favorite! :)  After dinner we went to the dollar movies and saw "Divergent".  It was so nice to have a date night...just spending time with my sexy hubby!  I am so blessed to be married to him.

6 awesome things about being married to Dale:

- He loves Ben and Jerry's Half Baked as much as I do (and he even lets me eat the majority of the cookie dough chunks...that's true love right there!)
- He is very understanding of  my need to get out of the house.  I probably go on a Target run twice a week, and he patiently watches the boys while I get some much needed ME time :).
- He is an incredibly hard worker- He has a day job, teaches piano, and is working on another business on the side.  Sometimes I think he must be superman to get all that done and still have energy to spend time with me and our kiddos.
- He rocks at playing the piano.  One of my very most favorite things to do is lay on the couch while he serenades me :).  How lucky am I!?
- He is funny- he is always joking around and making me laugh.
- He is gorgeous...and for the record, I love the beard :).

Summer Bucket List: Farmers Market and Tin Foil Dinners

Since everyone kept informing us how drastically our lives were going to change once Cole arrived we decided to make a fun list of things to do before we hibernated for a while :).

One thing on our list was to get some yummy fresh fruit at a farmers market.  Apparently we chose the wrong Farmers market...it ended up being more like a craft fair.  There was not a single stand with fruit, only one stand with some wilted lettuce and kale.  We did get some killer gourmet lemonade though...and Trey rode on a pony.  Trey was terrified of it so Dale had to ride on it with him.  So funny!  Dale looked like a giant on that tiny pony :).

Later that night we headed up the canyon to make some tin foil dinners and of course have s'mores.  I was so disappointed with Trey's first s'mores experience last year...he wouldn't even touch it.  Being a whole year older and wiser definitely made a difference...he gobbled down his dessert and may or may not have chased it down with a half a bag of marshmallows.  At least he ate his dinner first :).

Dale also took Trey on his first real hike while I held down the fort back at camp.  Being almost 9 months prego made a good excuse to sit back in my chair and relax :)
