"Unless each day can be looked back upon by an individual as one in which he has had some fun, some joy, some real satisfaction, that day is a loss."

This Moment

My ability to blog is still very sketchy. This computer of ours is not very cooperative. But these photos sum up our day pretty well. Wood carving, snails, and riding bikes in the rain. Our doors and windows are open as the cool breeze and aroma of a roasting turkey fill our home. This rain is a nice reprieve from the 100 degree temps we've been experiencing and so very soothing, really. As far as that turkey goes, it's been hanging out in our freezer for a while, along with yams and mallows in the cupboards. We will be having Thanksgiving in July seeing as a turkey won't travel so well on our move to Arizona in 2 weeks.

The Lone Wolf

Is he not the cutest thing you've ever seen? He is. Fletch has joined the elite rank of Wolf Scouts. Elite because he is the one and only 8 year old BOY in this here ward of ours (there are 5 or 6 girls). This morning he headed off to Camp Jeremiah Johnson with the biggest smile on his face for Cub Scout Day Camp! I can't wait to hear all about it!

My computer has crashed and I am blogging from my phone. It may be a while before I am back in this space because blogging from my phone is a pain! I had to at least leave you with this adorable photo.

Today

Today,
I hugged Preston (for a long time) and sent him out the door for a week long Scout Camp in the Uintas far, far away from me. I held back the tears until the door closed behind him, and then, the flood gates gave way.

Today,
I headed to the Scout Office, because Fletcher has joined the wonderful world of Cub Scouts and needed to be hooked up with a shirt and a book. He just barely squeezed in in time for Cub Scout Day Camp later this week.

Today,
Kate, Fletcher, Luke and I went to their school to WITHDRAW them as students so they can enroll in Arizona. It was weird and sad. It didn't help that the secretary went on and on about how magical Fall is in Utah. Oh sweet, sweet seasons, how I love thee. You will be deeply missed. Deeply.

And now,
my 10 minute break is over.
Those boxes aren't going to fill themselves. If they did, it would be really, really convenient. Honestly, the busyness keeps me from dwelling too much on what we are leaving behind and the great unknown ahead of us. I rather just cross that bridge, or desert, when we get there.

Saying 'Good Bye"

Thank you Kirk and Charith for giving up your holiday weekend to be with us here in Utah! The kids already miss you guys.

So do I.

Adventuring

BiRthDaY

 Blown away!
That pretty much describes my birthday experience this year. I am one lucky girl to be surrounded by so much love, kindness, generousity, and quite simply, some really, really great people. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Independance Day

(I jumped through the fireworks twice, but seeing as I was wearing a dress, those photos are to remain private unless leaked, creating a huge scandal which will then lead to me having my own reality show)

My brother Kirk, his wife Charith, and their 3 cute kids arrived here from Washington on the 4th. I LOVE having house guests! We grilled. We ate. We blew stuff up. It was delightful. And then, when the children were finally snug in their beds (air mattress, couch, floor...), the birthday fairy paid a visit for a very special little man. Oh we have been celebrating good times, indeed!

Good Morning America

"Life is great" -Paul Wurtz

Since my in-laws will be celebrating the 4th with the Beach Boys (Stadium of Fire), we decided to BBQ last night with them, as well as a couple of Brian's cousins. And my gosh, since we were going to be out back anyway, why not bust out the fire pit and tent for a backyard campout complete with s'mores and sleeping bags? Am I right?
When my little zombies were done running around with their guns and sabers, we piled in the tent (except Preston who hung on the air mattress out under the stars) and settled in for the night. That is, until 11:45 (Kate and I), 12:30 (Fletcher), and 2:30am (Luke). Not sure when Preston ended up inside the house, but it was well before dawn.

Clearly, it was a huge success, even if only for the fact that our gigantic, raging fire didn't burn down the neighborhood. That is always a good thing.

We have quite the week ahead of us! A visit from my awesome bro Kirk and his super rad family, 4th of July festivities, and a couple of birthdays in this family of ours. Oh yes, it's going to be especially fantastic!!!
