Ava 1 Year Old

You are 1!! Wow what a fast year it has been!! You have grown up and learned so much. You are energetic and curious. You can also been content just to sit and cuddle. You give kisses and hugs. You give high fives. You can make noise with your hand/fingers and mouth. You can make noise with your hand/fingers and someone else's mouth. You can open books and turn the pages. You can turn on the music or talking toys. You watch shows in the morning with Penny, you like Doc McStuffins, Octonauts, Mickey Mouse, Little Einsteins. You are chubby and solid and short and have a big tummy. I say you look like an old man with a big tummy and tiny bum. You can play peekaboo with your hands or around the corner of the wall or furniture. You have 4 almost 5 teeth. You are starting to bite, every once in while and get very sad when I tell you to stop. You try to color with Penny. You go straight for the fridge when you see or hear it is open. You wont say no to any kind of food. You still have the birthmark on your head but it is flat and splotchy in color. You get around very fast by either crawling or walking on the wall/furniture. You love bath time and come running when you hear the water on. You have started to wake up early, 6am is most days. You and Penny are now sleeping in the same room and have done really well together. You are good friends and have together. You can be independent and enjoy exploring and playing with toys. You notice small thing like the hole in my shirt or string on the carpet. You love love love to be outside. Yesterday you threw your first tantrum because you thought we were going outside. Crying and rolling on the ground, with crawling while your head was down and a little leg kicking. You are smart and observant, you try to copy what anyone is doing, especially Penny. You love to hear music and sing songs. You can stand for 10 seconds by yourself but only when you want to and that is not very often. You also can take several independent steps between people or furniture but only when you want to. When we try to make you, you just sit down and laugh. You copy when I stick my tongue in and out. You clap when we say Yea!! You say uh oh and try to say all done. You are trying to be more talkative and carry on a conversation. You make everyone around you smile. You love to play in the closet, you can open the door, get it and then stick your head out and laugh. Sometimes you put your hand over your mouth and laugh. You try to push everything you can....basket of toys, chairs, stools, shopping cart, strollers. You are such a sweet girl and really brighten up everyone's day. You are such a blessing and make me really happy that I get to be your mom. Happy Birthday my sweet, kind, beautiful Ava!!

She likes to squat for everything and always has to bend over and touch whatever is on the ground.

She is a fast learner and quickly made it up the stairs.

Not happy about her bracelet or the fact that I took her away from the stairs.

Trying to figure out how to go down the stairs.

Did not want to wear the hat and was mad that I wouldn't let her push the stroller.

All smiles now that the photo shoot is over.

Penny's 1st Primary Scripture

Penny was assigned her 1st scripture in Primary. It was D&C 35:17. She was very excited and practiced all week. She did such a good job and memorized it word for word. She also had to say the prayer and did so well. She is very good at saying prayers all by herself. She loves Primary and is a good singer, and listener and loves being with friends and learning.

Primary Talent Show

Penny participated in her 1st Primary Talent Show. She colored a picture and was so excited to put it on display. She kept asking all day "is it time for the talent show". It was a very cute show with kids singing, dancing, drawing pictures, cooking, playing instruments. Penny even went up on stage all by herself and talked about her picture and how colorful it was and that it was Minnie Mouse, one of her favorites. But because of all the musically talented kids, she now wants to play an instrument. She kept asking "when can I play my instrument." She had a lot of fun and really enjoys her Primary activities.

Zoo

We got blessed with a great week of weather. So I decided it was time to take the girls to the zoo before summer hits and it is way to hot to go. I even had a coupon to get Penny in for free but as I was standing in line to buy tickets a woman came up to me and said her friend couldn't make it and that she had a zoo pass. She is able to get 4 adults in for free and 7 kids and she was generous enough to share her pass with us. So it was a double bonus of great weather and getting in for free. We had lots of fun and saw lots of animals awake and playing.
Penny had a hard time spotting the animals if she didn't know what it looked like, so she looked at the pictures and then tried to find it.
Ava was an awesome baby even if she did get tired. The girl wouldn't take a nap even after she had a bottle, I guess there was just too much going on.
The tiger was up and walking around.
The lions were awake just not moving
The rhino was eating his hay breakfast.
Ava got to relax and didn't even try hold her bottle.

We got real close to zebras and their cute baby.

We ate lunch next to a group of pelicans. They didn't even bother us, it was the ducks that started to invade and beg for food.
The girls made new friends.
Penny had fun on the spider web playground. This was the 1st thing she asked me about when I told her we were going to the zoo. I guess she remembered it from last time.
The girls had so much fun. We love the zoo.
Ava was smiling at all the people passing by saying " oh goodness, look how cute she is."
