Bought For A Song

The last few weeks I have been trying to pick a theme song for myself. You know, something I can just hear in my head that enlivens me and makes me want to get up and dance and not really care who is watching. So I put together a little playlist of songs that make me feel like that to listen to and pick one from. The list may or may not contain more than one Tina Turner song and a little Kool & The Gang. I mean, how could I not put their song Joanna on the list? So far, I have narrowed it down to a few songs but still haven't found "the one" yet. But I will. Don't worry.

This brings me to Whirly Bin . I want EVERYONE to get in on the song action! So next week Whirly Bin is holding a "Buy It for a Song" sale.
Each day 1 very notable item will be on sale at an easy-on-the-pocketbook price. You have only that day to purchase the item before another item gets put on the chopping block!

Anyone who makes a purchase during the week will be automatically entered into a special Whirly Bin Give-Away with the winner chosen at random at the end of the week!

The sale begins Monday, September 13th and runs through Friday, September 17th.
So be sure to check your email, the Whirly Blog, the Whirly Bin Facebook page, and www.whirlybin.com next week and "Buy It for a Song"!

Expanding my Horizons - 2nd Quarter

Now that July has come I can finally report on my 2nd quarter horizon expansion! As I have mentioned before, this is one resolution I put on my list every January - to expand my horizon on a quarterly basis. This quarter has been no less exciting and I have many new things done and learned to add to my list!
There are 2 things in particular that I would like to report on because I am particularly proud of accomplishing them and feel they are worthy for the Dream Journal because I have certainly followed my bliss while doing them.
The first thing to add is that I signed up for a photography class. I have been wanting to take one for a while but finally did it! It was an 8 week course taken through Salt Lake County community education. I am by no means an expert on photography now but I feel like I learned a few key things about taking photos.
Here is one of the first photos that I took for an assignment in the class:

The subject was light. The composition may not be the best but that wasn't the purpose was it?
I also got 2 new cameras to help in my picture-taking efforts and I have to say I L-O-V-E them!

I got the Canon to replace my original digital camera that I have had since digital cameras came out and weighed about as much as a brick. Cameras have come a long way since then. And I got the Nikon for my more serious efforts. Handsome, isn't it?

My second horizon expansion this month happened in June. I went with Brent and Jane (who also go by Mom and Dad) to Sun Valley for a quick, long weekend trip. The weather wasn't spectacular so we took the opportunity to do something we had never done before. I have been going to Sun Valley for as long as I can remember and probably even before that and every time I have gone I have passed this sign:

but never actually stopped there. Well, this time we did and I am chalking it up as a momentous occasion! Brent, Jane and I went into the Ketchum Ranger Station and picked up an audio tour CD they have that takes you from Ketchum up to Stanley, ID. It was a beautiful drive up with lots to see on the way including, but not limited to: beaver dams, the headwaters of the Salmon River, Galena Summit, the gorgeous Sawtooth Mountains and Valley, the film location of the movie "Bus Stop" starring Marilyn Monroe, the Sawtooth Fish Hatchery, and Red Fish Lake. It was a very adventurous day and I felt so expanded!

On the way home to SLC we also stopped at the Snake River overlook and Shoshone Falls. Again, I can't even count the times that I have probably driven past and never stopped, but now I have!

All in all, it has been a successful and memorable 2nd quarter and I can't wait to see what's in store for the 3rd one!
