I'm a big kid now :)

August 5th before bathtime Dax was showing interest in the potty and we decided to take advantage of it while it lasted. So the next day we started our journey into Potty Training. I have to say I was a little stressed about the idea. I was thinking he was a little TOO young at 23 months, I have always been told boys usually aren't potty trained till about 2-1/2 closer to 3, and just read a potty training book that said 37months?!?! Mostly that they just take a lot longer than girls. We are proud to say he is a quick learner and transitions well when life throws him something new. It took about 5 days to have him potty trained. On day 5 we had a successful 8 hr day at the airport flying/driving to Chico, CA, I was so happy but definitely tired of running to the bathroom every time he looked at me and yelled "CACA!!" Ya that's what he says every time he has to go even though that's spanish for #2, kind of embarrassing in a public setting. S
He isn't wearing pull-ups at all not even for nap time or bed time just his "chonies" again spanish slang for underwear...Like how we keep a bilingual household?

HOW WE DID IT: He spent the first couple days naked staying inside & on the patio doing indoor activities which was driving him nuts, the poor kid is just so active the "always have to be doing something type" chalk, bubbles, coloring, cheetos, jumping off our furniture, dancing, reading, legos, and a LOT of Finding Nemo & Thomas the Train. We made a potty chart in the bathroom so every time he went potty he got a sticker he LOVED that seriously best idea ever. Then gave him a pez or skittle every time he went potty then sang a little song! I reminded him every half hour till he started telling me when he had to go .
I am pretty sure the best part is when he would model his underwear to show people...not sure I can give it a description with the justice it deserves...He would like angle his leg out like he was showing you a cute shoe & then turn his whole body away from you see the picture & like pivot spin full circle with a shoulder slouched...get that image in your head?

Dax is so proud and so are Mommy & Daddy at what a big boy he is now! I am thinking of the money we are saving! YES!!! It's so fun watching this kid grow up he is just amazing and so full of surprises. He is hardly my little baby anymore no bottle, no binky, no crib, & now NO diapers... now what do I do?

1st Broken Bone & Stitches!

Anyone that knows Dax in person knows he is pure boy. Seriously the kid is Manly his favorite things...Sharks, Dinosaurs, Trains, climbing and jumping off of anything that is a challenge to land. The kid even has a little skateboard trick.

So for me it was no surprise I was rushing him to the ER, I always thought it would be for a broken arm... not a quarter of his finger falling off and spurting blood everywhere. Yes...spurting...sounds worse than it is...

Dax's finger got shut in the back hinge side of the door that was metal, it was one of those doors that were soo heavy just so they would shut by themselves no matter what. It shut so hard...The scream was so loud...It pulled his fingernail out from the cuticle & cut straight down & broke the bone.

Worst Part was we were driving to Denver from Utah, this was just a few hours after the dinosaur museum, Dax was hungry and we were stopping to get him something...1 hour from Denver. I had no idea where I was. It was the worst...
Jake drove to where we were thank goodness I know I couldn't of handled the procedure they had to do trying to put his fingernail back in & stitches through his nail. Jake has had a near death experience and said this by far was the worst, holding Dax down screaming and crying "Daddy help Daddy" over and over while they did it. I think just seeing your child in pain...I cried the whole time probably as much as Dax.
*We are currently potty training right now and it's going great! He survived an 8 hour shopping trip & 2 hour car drive in just his chonies (spanish slang for undies hah) no accidents so excited to post about that*

Dinosaur Museum Fruita, CO

We've drove back and forth from Denver to Utah a few times this summer and every time we stop in Fruita, CO which is right by Grand Junction...it's at the halfway mark so we usually stop there to let Dax play at a McDonalds play place and run wild...There is also a Dinosaur Museum right there. Somehow Dax got a Dinosaur obsession...So on our way back the end of June I decided it was perfect opportunity to go to the Dinosaur Museum! He LOVED it so much! It was so much fun seeing him learning and making dinosaur noises at the dinosaurs...he would try and run off around a corner then come back freaking out a little cause around the corner would be a scary dinosaur Pretty cool Museum an area to pan for fossils, dust dinosaur bones, aquarium, dinosaurs that shoot water, robot dinosaurs you could control

Slacker

I have been like the worst blogger EVER, I kind of turned anti-blogging I think but the truth is I really love to blog all our summer activities, it was so fun for Jake & I go to go back & look through old posts during the winter months when we were missing the sun, & even now to compare Dax from this moment to 1 year ago exactly, we just seriously laugh... our pasty bald fat headed baby. Jake would do some crazy things with Dax last summer & there are a few babies here this summer that are his age then & I can't imagine them doing any of those things...I guess Dax is my wild child NOW for those reasons. It's fun to go back so I am going to post about 100 posts...totally kidding...but seriously since I've blogged we've made about 6-8 trips. I think maybe we've just been too busy! SO I am gonna play catch up
