Summer Trip Leg 6: Pleasant Hill, CA

After Lake Powell we spent a few days at my sister's house in Provo and a night at my brother's house in Layton, and then we headed off on the long drive with my parents back to California.  Again, we thought it would be nice for the boys to be able to see Gramma and Grampa's house and spend some time there.

We went and visited the Oakland temple.  The boys had fun playing in the fountains, smelling the flowers, and running around the grounds.

They tried to pretend that they could be reverent!!

We went to one of our favorite parks at the Martinez Marina.  It is just so much fun for the boys to feed all the ducks, pigeons, seagulls, and geese.

We also had fun walking out onto the pier.  I had some fun with our camera!!

In this one the boys were being silly and smashing their faces together, but in the picture it looks like they are kissing - I thought it was hilarious!

We found a huge dead fish that looked quite scary.  I wouldn't want to run into it out in the water, that's for sure!!

We also got to go to Tillden park.  The boys loved riding the train!!

We went to the little farm and got to see the cows, chickens, goats, etc.

Another favorite thing to do is go to "The Jungle." It's a huge indoor playground with lots of tunnels and slides and secret passageways, etc.  It's hard to get any good pictures except in the ball pit, which the boys loved!

On another day we visited Pixie Playland.  The boys had fun on the rides, and then they had fun eating cotton candy and trying to feed it to the Canadian geese!

I couldn't believe both Jacob and Eli wanted to go on the dragon roller coaster.  I figured Eli would regret his decision afterwards, but he just wanted to go on it again!

Our 5 week trip finally came to an end.  I was really nervous about flying 14 hours on the airplane with the 2 boys by myself, but it actually turned out really well.  They both slept for 9 hours straight and then were entertained by movies and such.  We had a total 4 flights getting home, and I'm sure there was some divine intervention, because I don't know how I pulled it all off, with lugging the boys, 3 suitcases and our carry-ons.  I was soooo happy to be back home, back with James, and back to our normal routines.  We were so blessed to have had the time and the means to enjoy such an amazing summer trip, and we were so happy to be able to see all our family as well.  Until next year...
