We just got back from our Apx trip to Mexico, and it was a lot of fun! For such a short trip, (we were only there for three days), we still were able to do a ton. I wish we could have stayed longer, but it was really really fun!
Saturday Night:
Eric and Nat had gotten there the day before us, and Maddix was really cuddly when we first saw him!
There was a banquet room at the hotel that was reserved just for Apx for dinner every night...very cool
Some of our group at dinner, starting with L-R (kinda): Jordan, Rachel, Audrie, Jeremy, Nat, me, Eric & Maddix, Ty, Jess, Jared, Jason, and Nicole...Neal's in the background at a different table too...
This picture is a good indication of the face that Ty opted to use in almost all of our pictures
from the trip...so get ready...
If I bugged him enough about it I could usually get something really cheesy like this...
We went into downtown Cancun after dinner, and some lady took us in this club inside a huge mall...but we were pretty much the only people there so we all left...
There was this crazy guy walking around with this huge Boa Constrictor so Ty and I held it...it was so huge! It weighed 25 pounds and slithered around on our backs a lot...
I wish I had a better picture, but the snake guy looked JUST like Jafar from Aladdin. Very fitting
You can't tell in this picture but the snake is wrapping its tail around my leg...it felt so weird!!!
Sunday:
We spent the day after we got there at the hotel, playing in the pool and the ocean (Ty in the ocean at least). This is such an awful picture, but it shows how pretty the ocean was right off our hotel...
Maddix tried to be a big boy and swim...but he wasn't quite sure how he felt about it :)
This pose was to show how sunburnt Ty was...but he doesn't look burnt at all in this picture...crazy!
You can't really see how cool the pools were...and Ty is mid sneeze or something in this picture ;)
That night Eric took the whole region out to a cool Mexican restaurant in downtown Cancun...we got to enjoy quite a few bus rides throughout the trip...
This dinner included a bus ride and some walking as well...but luckily Ty was having tons of fun!
We had a lot of fun at dinner, despite Ty's face :) Thanks Eric & Nat!!!
Monday:
Xel-ha:
I'm so bummed because we didn't take our camera with us when we snorkeled and did cliff jumping, so these are the only two pictures we got from our day at Xel-ha! Luckily we were able to catch a shot of Chase smelling a beautiful hibiscus...or something :) L-R: Chase, Ty, me, and Nicole...
We were able to encounter another huge reptile...Ty loves Iguanas and we came across this huge cool looking guy (well not really just came across...some guy was walking around with him :)
The Iguana held himself so cool, and his claws were way hand-like which was creepy...
It was terrifying holding it...and somehow I ended up with orange Iguana pee on my arm...
Tulum:
From Xel-ha we were able to go to the Mayan ruins at Tulum--and they were awesome! Neither Ty nor I had ever seen any kind of ruins, and it was a lot cooler than we even expected...I have a ton of pics...so bare with me :)
That's the Mayan Temple behind us in these pictures. We ended up having an LDS tour guide, which was really cool to get an LDS perspective of the ruins...even though I only got half or a fourth of the perspective because the whole tour was in Spanish :)
Some of the guys there with us...L-R: Brad, Omar, Chase, Nate, and Ty
There was a beautiful beach up against Tulum, I wish we would have had more time there cause it was probably the best beach we saw the whole time!
There was this awesome little crevice where the ocean came in and it was shallow way out...the waves were huge so we were getting soaked, but it was really cool!
L-R: Brad, Omar, Ty, me, Nate, Alan, and Matt
This picture cracks me up because Chase was taking it and he was standing further out in the water, and the waves were huge! So both Ty and Kevin are pointing behind Chase at the huge waves coming at him...Chase did a great job holding onto the camera!!
This is the view from the beach up to the ruins, that's the Mayan temple behind us. It was really cool!
The entire city behind us...Kevin suggested Ty should do this "Mayan" pose...
Right when we got back from our excursion we went out to a really nice dinner with the managers from the region...Ty's a little distracted by how good the food was. Thanks Apx!
After dinner we went downtown and met up with friends...
This little boy was walking around selling bracelets, so we all bought one, and then he would tie it on our wrist for us! So cute! However it was 11pm and he said he was only 4...so a little disheartening as well...
L-R: Ty, Chase, Kevin, Omar & Rach, me...
Ty and me with the group of way too young kids peddling wares in downtown Cancun...
Now, for one of the coolest parts of our trip...
Coco Bongo:
So we went to this club in downtown Cancun called the Coco Bongo, and it's a dance club that puts on like a three hour show while you're there. They had famous singer impersonators, acrobats flying from the ceiling, and all kinds of fun music. It turned out awesome!
After every song there was an explosion of pieces of tissue paper that came from the ceiling...and Chase and Ty really enjoyed that part :) Probably the best performance was the Michael Jackson one...he looks just like him!
Goodbye:(
We had an awesome trip, and I'm so glad we got to go! This was the view from our hotel room...so pretty!!!
