Lyman's Latest

I just wanted to share some of the little things that are happening in our lives:

Carter is trying to learn how to adjust with his mobile sister. The other morning I was sitting here on the computer and hear Hanna screaming. I run to the front room to find Carter sitting...yes, sitting...on Hanna. He was parked on her back between her shoulder blades. I freaked out. "What are you doing?!" I screamed. "I'm sitting on Hanna." He answered back very calmly and matter of factly. After his 3 minute time out I asked him why he was sitting on Hanna. He told me he was just trying to keep her away from his trains that he was playing with. It took ALL I had not to laugh at the situation. What would he learn if I laughed at him after he did something so naught. He has also figured out that Trent rides his bike to work and to school and is telling him to make sure he wears his helmet "so the cars don't get you." I think it's sweet that he is noticing such things. He keeps us on our toes everyday. We get a good laugh with some of the things he says. Tonight at dinner he burped. Trent said "excuse you." To which Carter replied "no daddy, that's my excuse me please." He is always wanting to drive the car. The other day we were taking about how he was three and on his next birthday he'd be four. His face lit up and then said "and then I'll be big enough to drive all by my self!"

Hanna is moving faster and faster every day. She wanted everything that Carter has, even if we give her the EXACT same item, she wants the one in his hands. She can be a little mean too, it's a good thing she doesn't have teeth yet. When Carter tries to take something from her, she gets very angry and leans in a tries to bite him. Bitters drive me nuts, so we've got to work on that one. She's got a little temper, she is wonderful at throwing tantrums. If she is sitting on the floor and gets upset, she'll just bend in half and smack her head on the floor while she screams. Silly baby! And my favorite, her hair is long enough to put in piggies! I'm so very excited to this. She HATES having her hair done, she'll thrash her head back and forth and scream, so it's a little hard to get it even, but I sure try, and it looks so dang cute. I've got lots of pictures, I'll post them later.

Trent has only one semester left at UVU, I can hardly wait. I keep thinking that the income will be better and we'll be able to get into a house after he graduates. Then reality always hits me, we cannot afford a house even on the $20 an hour he'd be making as a nurse. Houses are so dang expensive, and that depresses me a little bit. I so want into a house, something bigger than the 800 sq feet we live in now! I cannot send Carter anywhere to play where Hanna cannot get him, without shutting a door, and that's bad news. I want a yard with a fence so I can send him outside without worrying about where he's at all the time. The list goes on and on. We've thought of moving to Logan after Trent graduate's, housing is lot cheaper up there. I'm not sold on it yet, but we are still thinking about it. He keeps very busy with work, school, guard, and his church calling. We don't see him near as often as we'd like. He's just changed his work schedule so we see him a little more. However, he got another job doing home health. He just work's on call hours, he's on call from 5pm to 8am. So anytime during those hours he can be gone. The biggest news on the Trent front.....NO DEPLOYMENT for us, yeah!! He was talking to his 1st Sergent, and he was told that they will deploy in Jan 2010, we are out May 29. He'll still have his 2 years of inactive status, but it's not likely they will take him. I'm pretty excited for that, the thought of another deployment depresses me!

Well, there's what's up with the Lymans.

Free Passes.....who wants them?

On Saturday we went out to Hee Haw Farms, it was so dang fun, I'll post the slew of other pictures later, first I need to get to this. It all happened when my brother wanted to watch the pig races, a bunch of little kids got in this pin and tried to catch a pig. Then it was the 11+ age group, my sister's friend, Lindsey, totally wanted to do it (she's the one in the grey shirt with brown hair), so we volunteered her to go, then Julianne went, and I thought what the heck, I'll do it too! So I handed Hanna, who was all snugly in the sling on my chest to my brother and jumped in. When we got into the ring the girl in charge says "Yours will be a bit more challenging than the kids." They only had to hold the pig down for 10 seconds. "You'll have to catch the pig and then kiss it on it's snout!" EWWW. But what the heck, might as well do it now. For doing such a gross thing they gave us free passes to the cornevil corn maze. I knew I would never use that pass, but I still did it anyway....KINDA.....I picked up the squealing little thing and it was thrashing back and forth, and I may have missed his snout and smacked a big on one his hairy cheekish area. So, Julianne lives in St George, she's never going to use her pass, Lindsey lives in SLC and doesn't want hers. And I'm a total wimp, I'm not going unless Trent can go with me, and seeing that their last night open is on Friday, we won't be using mine either. So....Long story just to say: I've got 3 free passes to Hee Haw's Cornevil Corn maze....WHO WANTS THEM? You may have to click on the pictures to see them well.

Hearing said instructions

And we're off

That would be the piggy I kissed

Julianne laying the smack down

Almost had him!

Got 'em!

Lindsey kiss the piggy, her back side anyhow

And she's off...

Hanna has found a new freedom...well, okay so it's been a few weeks now, but I'm just getting around to blogging it now. She has mastered the crawl! And she can move pretty fast too, I'm amazed at times that she can move as fast as she can. She does not do the both legs on the floor crawl, just one leg down and the other a flat foot on the ground to push herself off. Oh, and she's trying to stand up in the middle of the floor too.....what the heck, where did my baby go?! Try as I might I couldn't stop her from crawling, the crawling stage isn't my favorite. Dirty socks, dirty hands, dirty legs, worn out pants (knees), and wanting to get down and crawl everywhere and then the ticked off scream when she cannot get down because we are in a public place, and let's be honest, crawling all over the floor of some public places is just NASTY.

The other day I walked into the front room to check on the kids, I got a little panicked when I couldn't see Hanna anywhere. Where could she have gone? I was just in the bathroom doing my hair, the doors down the hall were shut...where on earth was she. Under the table. She LOVES it under there, maybe because she can sit and eat all the cereal or goldfish crackers that she has dropped under there and I've not got around to clean up yet. She'll take toys with her under the table and just hangout there.

She has also found the stove. It's the perfect size for her to sit and talk to her self, she'll point to her reflection, giggle, and just stare at herself for a sizable about of time for an infant. And I just don't even mind, whatever keeps her happy.

With this new found freedom, however, comes with a few terrible draw backs. Carter is no longer safe playing out of her reach. She only wants what he has and she dang good at getting it too. We now have to tell Carter to play with his toys on the couch where she cannot reach him, or to sit at the table. She finds EVERY little thing in the carpet and will eat it...goat heads brought in on Carter's shoes, little pieces of paper, leaves. My vacuum tells me it needs a break, it's been working overtime the last month since she's learned to crawl! OH....and don't forget to close the bathroom door, she loves to go in there and cause ALL sorts of trouble, Carter is still working on remembering that one.

Hanna is 9 months old this month (well on the 9th of this month, so a few weeks ago). I cannot believe it's been that long. I want to keep thinking of her as my little baby, but she's not so little any more. And now I cannot use the excuse "I just had a baby and that's why I'm fat," anymore, more time has past since she was born than the time I was pregnant with her, so now I'm just fat....no excuses! She had her 9 month checkup last week, she weighs in at 17 lbs 12ozs and is 28 1/4 inches long. She is in the 25th percentile for weight and 75th for height. Carter also had his 3 year checkup the same time as Hanna, he has finally passed the 30lb mark, he weighs 32 lbs. For over a year he weighed only 27-28lbs.

Camping in Idaho

So, I know I'm a bit behind in this post....but better later than never, right.
In August we went camping in Idaho with Trent's Dad and Step Mom (Blair and Rhonda), and Kimberlee (step sister) came too. We had a BLAST! Blair and Rhonda are so very good to us, they spoil the kids (and us), Carter LOVES LOVES being with them. Carter spent two weeks with Blair while I was gone and Trent was gone also with National Guard stuff, he didn't want to come home. He informed me that he was staying with Papa Blair and not coming home.

We drove up to North Ogden on a Friday afternoon and picked up Kimberlee and then started the drive to Rexburg. I think we got there around 5ish, Blair had the motor home all packed and ready to go, so off we went. He has his favorite spots to camp, up near Kilgore I think. We headed up too the hills and found a little campsite off the side of the road. We had a blast four wheeling, eating yummy camping food (smores of course), playing games, and just laughing the night away. We stayed Friday night, all day on Saturday, and then packed it all up early Sunday morning.
Hanna LOVES Muppy......can you tell? And I'd have to say Muppy is very patient with her.

We ran into only one small problem as we were setting up camp.....you see there are only 3 beds in the motor home, the queen/double bed in the back (that's Blair and Rhonda's bed), the table in the kitchen area folds down to a bed, slightly wider than a twin, and Kimberlee gets that bed, then there is the bench seat/couch thing that also folds down into a bed (only slightly wider than a twin...maybe, but WAY shorter). So there is absolutely no way I'm going to share that bed with Trent, we have a king bed at home, I don't want to be touched when I'm sleeping. Blair said he had a tent in the motor home we could set up for Trent......here comes the trouble, you see this tent came with the motor home when Blair and Rhonda bought it 3 years ago and he's never set it up before so we didn't know that it was broken. One of the poles that you use to set the tent up with was broke, so what do we do......pull out the duct tape! Trent found a pretty green stick, so it was pretty pliable, taped it around the pole and.......

.......tada! Problem solved!

There's nothing that duct tape won't fix.....right?! Well except for maybe the next little sleeping problem.....comfort on a hard ground. No worries, Blair said he had an air mattress, just a little problem, it didn't fit in the tent. I thought, why not stick it in the tent before you blow it up then it would have to fit...some how.....Trent had another idea, since he blew up the air mattress before he heard my idea. Why not set the tent on top of the mattress, I got a pretty good laugh when I woke up and found what he had done! Hmmmm, maybe we are a little too redneckish.

Blair handed Hanna a sausage for breakfast, as greasy and gross as she got, it was REALLY funny. She really enjoyed it too, she got way upset when I took it away from her.

burr, it's cold in the morning!

Hanna loves to go for rides, I'm sure it's not so safe to ride with her on the front like that, but we do go on groomed easy riding trails. She just hangs out and relaxes.

Carter climbing a tree at camp

Daddy even made him a little swing

Okay.....if you are offended by this next photo, I'm very sorry, I find it HILARIOUS! Carter has a new love.....that's right peeing outside. He thought it was the greatest thing on earth to just drop his pants where ever we were at and pee, we had to break that little habit when we got home.
Carter and Grandma Rhonda, oh and muppy. Carter insisted on riding with her all day long.

Yes folks, that dog has on goggles.....aka doggles.

Daddy and Carter making smores

I'm pretty sure that was the first time Carter has ever had a smore....I'd say he enjoyed it!
This is one of my favorite things about camping.....hanging out around the campfire (and eating of course).
Let's be honest....sometimes he just needs a smack to the head.
So I totally forgot Hanna's pajamas, so she slept in her clothes in here little peapod, it's the coolest little bed ever.
