Sevilla Part 2

On our second day in Sevilla we saw the Cathedral that is in the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest square footage. It is also home of Christopher Columbus' Tomb... and something I like to call "The Holy Grail"
Here is part of the Cathedral... take note of the bell tower on the right (I'll mention it again later)
Tim just outside the Cathedral.
See! This is the PROOF!
A side angle of Christopher Columbus' Tomb... you can see that GIGANTIC mural of him behind it on the wall!
Here it is from the front. There is really nothing except a small plaque on the floor that tells that this is his tomb. Kinda lame if you ask me.
Tada! I'm sure you thought you'd never set eyes on... the Holy Grail!!! :) Okay, not really. Sorry.
They had some pretty cool ceilings!
They also have a bell tower that YES the pregnant woman climbed the 26 levels to see!!! I was pretty dead when I got there but they had tons of little stops along the way with windows on one side and every once in a while a little display across from it that you could look at while you sat in the window sill (if you didn't feel like looking out the window I guess :)
The view from the top!

Next we went to the Alcázar of Sevilla (which means Palace) it was built by the Arabs so it has some really neat architecture! And it was HUGE! Well, they made it really confusing so that it would seem a lot bigger, but either they really did a good job or it really was pretty big. Man, I was so turned around in there and there was SO much to see! I will try and just post the pictures that give you a feel for it.
Oh my goodness! This is one of the first things we saw and I thought it was SO crazy! She looks EXACTLY like (or at least a LOT like) my Great Grandma J! I never knew I had royalty in my blood! :)
They had tiles all over some of the walls! LOTS of hard work! And, here's a little profile of my belly :)... almost exactly 18 weeks
ONE of the pools/fountains
It was SO BLAZING HOT so I found this little hideaway and took advantage of it with my water and fan! :)

There were all sorts of different buildings and rooms to go into and we thought THAT part was big but then we saw the "garden area" ... more like MASSIVE JUNGLE!!! We couldn't believe our eyes! We wished we had brought a picnic and could spend the entire day in there!

After our day of fun in the sun we saw some Flamenco dancing! The dancers were AMAZING and the guitar player/singer played some fun music that was also really relaxing at times but overall the show was... not exactly what I expected! They didn't really put on the "touristy show" that I expected. Usually when you hear Flamenco dancing you think of a girl in a big frilly dress with lots of make up and her hair in a bun with a comb and a flower and big earrings, etc. NOPE not from this girl! You will see what I mean when you see the pictures! She was a good dancer... just not what I expected. We also weren't allowed to take pictures until the end. The guy and girl only danced alone until the last dance, which wasn't what I expected either!
This is the guitar player/singer and the guys who kept the beat with clapping/tapping for the two dancers.

Yes, she looks like a man! Well, aside from her dress! :)
Like I said, they really were amazing dancers, it just wasn't as "showy" as I expected :(

Aside from the slight disappointment with the Flamenco dancers, we LOVED our time in Sevilla and were sad to leave such a neat place!
