Dylan Turned 6!

Dylan turned 6, and we all made sure that even though we had a lot going on (as we always seem to), he had a great day!

He woke up to find a big bouquet of balloons in his room.

And, then since it was going to be an especially busy day, and the only time we were all going to be together was before school, we got up extra early to open presents and have birthday waffles for our cute kid.

After Parker and Natalie left for school, Dylan got busy right away working on some of his new Legos.  He is at such a fun Lego obsessed age, and his birthday and the things he asked for definitely showed that.  He loves to build new sets with instructions, but he also loves to take them apart and make his own creations.

Then we went to McDonald's for lunch before he went to Kindergarten.  I also went into Kindergarten and brought donuts for him to share with his class that day.

One of the things Dylan got for his birthday were some new posters to fill up the walls in his room.  So, while he was at school, I got busy putting them all up.

He had gymnastics that afternoon with a couple of his buddies.

And, Justin and I took Dylan out to dinner at In N' Out, and he especially liked getting to have his very own milkshake that he didn't have to share with anyone.

It was a great birthday for our sweet handsome easy going boy, and we sure were happy to be able to spoil and celebrate him all day.

Man, Do I Love This Man!!!

At the end of March over Easter weekend, Brian and I flew my parents out here to stay with our kids so we could get away.  We went to Monterey for a few days, and it was such an amazing and romantic trip.  We had so much fun, and I hadn't been that relaxed in a really long time.  I am so lucky to be married to someone who I can just be me with, who loves me for who I am, and who helps me to be a better person.  We have so much fun together and we really remembered how much we love each other.

We flew in late Thursday night, and picked up our super fun Dodge Challenger that we got to drive around all weekend.

Brian's Mom bought a house in Monterey several months ago, and she let us stay there.  So, after we flew in we drove to her house.  The next morning we got ready and drove to Hearst Castle.  It was a 2 hour drive along highway 1, and the drive there was a treat.  It was gorgeous and so nice to just be together.  On our way out, we stopped for breakfast at a restaurant at the Hilton right there overlooking the ocean.

Hearst Castle was so cool.  It huge and beautiful. Inside and out.

We took a different route home, and we even stopped at a few silly places along the way.

The next morning we went down into town to get breakfast.  Again, gorgeous views.

And, later that day we drove the 18 mile drive and found the spot the Brian had propsed.  And, that day also happened to be the anniversary of our first date.  It was pretty romantic, and we just loved sitting there together for as long as we wanted to.

Later that day we rented bikes and rode along the coast some more.  That was fun too.

The morning before we left we decided to explore around Kathy's house and enjoy our last day together before returning to reality.

The kids had a great time with Nana and Papa and the Easter Bunny even came without us there.

An Awesome Basketball Season

This year Parker decided to kick it up a notch in basketball and play in a more difficult and more competetive league.  He was lucky enough to have 2 awesome coaches, and it was so much fun to watch him grow and learn so much as a player this year.  He especially became a valuable offensive and defensive defender on the court.  Their point guard always went to Parker's side becuase he knew he could rely on Parker to get him open for a shot.  I never knew 4th grade basketball could be so exciting, and I may or may not have had to learn to keep my yelling and excitement under control.

They had a bit of a rough start at the beginning of the season and lost a bunch of games, but they grew so much as a team that at the end of the season, THEY WON THE ENTIRE TOURNAMENT!  Now, that was an exciting game!
