back to college

I realized I never posted about going up to Berkeley a couple weekends ago! Since we graduated, my really good friend Mal and I try to go up for at least one game a season {last year I think it was for Homecoming}. This year it was Cal vs. UCLA so I was kinda forced to cheer for both sides since Matthew was a Bruin. He tells me all the time that the Bears and Bruins are best friends and they're on the same side against USC and Stanford. hmm..I guess so. Mal and I stayed with her good friend Jenna in San Francisco and it was so fun to be there during a big weekend when the whole city was celebrating {the Giants won, Cal won, and Staford won}.

It was so nice to go up and see all my friends who still live in the city and also to spend lots of time with Mal. We were roomies and worked at the same job, so we always say how great it was to live together, work together, study together {me mostly, her not so much}, play together and sleep together {separate beds of course}! It's hard not seeing someone as much when you're used to seeing them pretty much 24/7. But, luckily we still make the time!

The winner of the Mr. Kate Bark Ear Cuff is...Illy from Much Love, Illy! Congrats! {send me your info}

I hope everyone had a grrrreat weekend! I'm luckily back on Pacific Standard Time and I'll be posting about my trip to Pittsburgh tomorrow!

one year ago..

It's been a year since I graduated college
since I left the Bay Area
since I moved out of a house with all my closest friends.
How has it already been a year?
Everyone says the first year out of college goes by the fastest and I so agree.
These pictures seem like they were taken the other week!

can you spot me?

the most beautiful flowers from Matthew

sunburned after a long day in the sun

The things I miss from Berkeley include:
Dates in San Francisco
living with Mal, one of my best friends
and working with her, having classes with her
and watching Gossip Girl with her.
{bff time 24/7}
all the amazing restaurants and cafes
having extended family so close-by

Things I don't miss so much include:
studying all the time and stressing about classes
living 45 minutes away from Matthew
living 6 hours away from my family

Of course I wish a year later I was in a different place career-wise
But otherwise I am so happy to be where I am.

Thank you everyone for all your puppy tips! They've definitely come in handy. I'm so happy that Ginger didn't cry last night in her crate and she's on her way to being potty trained. So far {knock on wood} no incidents in the house! I'm hoping to keep in that way although it's only to be expected!

a lovely detour

When Matthew and I drove back from Santa Cruz we decided to take a little detour to get back to the I-5. Little did we know that we were going to be on a windy road for over 100 miles. So it wasn't really a shortcut at all because you can't go fast on windy roads.. or you can but our lives are too important for that. Also we were in my car, and Snow White doesn't like being foolish! But we did stop to appreciate the beautiful California landscape and say hi to some cute horses and cows!

Happy California Cows!

Lately I've been thinking about how I graduated from college almost a year ago {seriously where has the time gone!}. I really thought that by now I'd be settled into a career that I loved and feel happy, stable and relieved. While, I'm clearly not there I'm so grateful for this journey I've gone on over the past 9 months. I've learned so much about myself and what I want out of a job. I listened to myself and accepted the fact that I really don't want to be a lawyer. I went after my dream to work for a magazine and got articles published in a monthly glossy. Now I'm rethinking becoming a teacher and I'm volunteering at my old elementary school. I'm even in two of my old teacher's classrooms! It's been confusing at times but stepping back I'm grateful for this lovely detour I'm on. And I know I'll eventually get where I want to be!

Happy Friday everyone!

ici (pronounced ee-cee)

One of my absolute favorite places in Berkeley is Ici {pronounced ee-cee}. It's an adorable little ice cream shop that hand-makes their ice cream, sorbets, candies and other desserts right in the store. They use fresh, local ingredients and have really interesting flavors like Orange-Cranberry Crème Fraîche, Burnt Caramel, Earl Grey and some classics like Coffee and Chocolate. Honestly best ice cream I've ever had! I chose Dulce de Leche in a hand-rolled, chocolate tipped ice cream cone!

Have a sweet Friday
& a lovely weekend !!
