Magical Mom Moment

The other day I went out to get the mail with Max. Our mailbox in these big group boxes-kinda like a mini post office. Anyway while I was getting my mail this older man was getting his also, he was looking at Max and he commented on how big he was getting, etc... I agreed with the man and felt a moment of motherly pride for my cute little boy, however, that pride turned into...hmmmm maybe shock is a good word....as I looked down at Max's face, he has been experiencing his first cold, and he had two little snot streams coming out of his nose as well as slobber all over his chin....my cute little boy looked like your typical "Walmart kid" as my brother in law calls them-It was just funny and I felt like a bad mom for neglecting my child and letting him be in such a goopy state at the mailbox!

Naps and Baths

Joel asked me the other day why all I ever post on our blog are pictures of Max-so I was thinking about it and it is probably because he is pretty much what my life revolves around now and I think he is just so stinking cute! My favorite things are watching him sleep and also giving him his bath-he loves it, and now that he is in the big boy tub he can use his big meaty thighs to kick the water the whole time he is in the tub. I'm always amazed at how easily entertained I am-I could just sit and watch him for hours-and so this is probably why I take endless pictures of him and why Max is the star of our blog!

He is just waking up and trying to figure out why mom has the camera in his face.

I think he has potential for a future career as a rubber duck model.

Bear Lake

Last weekend Cody, Max and I headed up to Bear Lake to spend time with his family at the Shirley Family reunion. We stayed in a KOA in Garden City, and just hung out at the lake and visited with family. We attempted to rent Jet Skis or a boat on Saturday but by the time we got around to calling rental places everything was already rented-which of course made us think that we should move up there and open our own rental company. Unfortunately every time we went down to the lake we forgot our camera so we have no pictures of the lake, which I love, in all honesty I really do think I could live up there-it is beautiful!

This is Max with Grandma Patty, who is Cody's grandma.

Cody's parents, grandparents, and sisters-plus me sporting a lovely air dried hair do!

nothing better to do

I have decided that since I am home with Max all day, and he is constantly doing cute things-I have developed an obsession with taking pictures of him. So in commemoration of there being only 29 days until the first BYU football game I am yet again posting more pictures of our cute little boy-if that doesn't make sense to anyway it is just because while the pictures upload it gives me a good excuse to read about football...without feeling guilty about wasting time.

Apparently fingers are a far better to eat than pretty much anything else.
It seems pictures I take of him are always a little blurred because the boy does not like to hold still!
Max modeling his cute swim hat-I never have my camera the few times he has actually been swimming, but the hat is still cute!

He loves his bath-and he is just so cute in his towel-unfortunately his dad didn't understand when I asked him to take the picture that I just wanted the baby in it!

Eating Cereal

Sometimes the bib is more exciting to eat than the food.

The past few days I have been experimenting with feeding Max cereal-it is hard to tell if he likes it that much. After feeding him for a while I have to sneak the cereal into his mouth when he opens it to smile or talk, because he starts to clamp his mouth shut. When he does manage to get cereal in his mouth and keep it there it usually causes him to make a face that makes the whole experiment worth it! I have also been trying to get him on a napping schedule and attempting to train him to fall asleep on his own-which he will do if he is in the right mood and tired enough...while he is falling asleep he often plays with his blankets and I often find him with the blanket or his noise making bear over his face-as long as he can get the air he needs I am okay with it but it is still a little bit scary to walk into his room and find a blanket right over his face.

It is a little disturbing to see so I quietly moved the blanket-after taking a picture of course!

We took Max to the doctor last week for his four month checkup and he is in about the fiftieth percentile for height, weight and the size of his head. The doctor and his nurse were very impressed with how strong he is-he loves to be up all the time just looking at everything, and if I lay him down on my lap he starts to lift his head up in an attempt to let me know he is ready to sit up. I am amazed at how fast he is growing up and becoming his own little person-who is full of so much personality-it is incredible how much you can love such a little person!
