Conni's Fifth Birthday

I cannot believe my sweet little girl is five years old!  Here's a recap of her birthday with mom and dad.

Dave got half the day off at work, so Conni and mom just took it easy until he came home.  Then Conni got to open presents.

So excited to open stuff!

Being silly

Can't you just hear the "ooohhh!!" excitedly coming out of her mouth!

Conni LOVES Doc McStuffins

Ready to read - probably one of my favorite pics from her birthday

Hugging a shirt she got

Look at her stylish sparkly purple shoes

Conni with Doc, Lambie, Hallie, Chilly, and Stuffy

Now she can officially be Doc Conni!

After she opened presents Conni "tackled" dad to give him a thank you hug and kiss

Thanks mom!

Taking a pic of her favorite gift

Doing doctor exams

Doesn't she look so grown up!

My other favorite picture from her birthday

Dad had to get a checkup

Turns out Dad needed a shot.  It only hurt for a minute
Yes, Conni is smiling cause Dad is a silly patient!

We let Conni choose where we could go for her birthday dinner.
She was thrilled to get a picture with Chuck E Cheese himself.

I don't think Conni stopped smiling all day.  I am so happy I could take the day to be home with her and we just played and enjoyed our time together.  I reflected a lot back to the day she was born and the five years we've had so far together.  She is a blessing and such a good kid.  We are so happy that she made us parents and that she makes such good choices.  Conni is truly a sweetheart.  I hope some of these pictures gave you a look into her fun personality.  Happy birthday Conni!!

Conni's Birthday Party

For her birthday party this year, Conni chose to have a Brave themed party - but with water.  We had a ton of fun with the games we played and the friends that could come celebrate with us!  Here's a picture recap of the party.

Waiting for her friends to come - this was Conni's favorite game

Conni's cute cake
(yes, its lopsided.  We were pretty frustrated with the bakery when we picked it up.  But since I chose not to stress about the cake too, I guess that's what we get.  At least it tasted yummy!)

"I wish my friends would get here!"

Our gathering activity - making bear claw necklaces.  Even the boys loved them!

Conni's finished necklace

Conni and Izzie - such style!

Then we went on a scavenger hunt led by the will-o-the wisps.  Our cake had disappeared and they were helping us find it!

The kids had to shoot the bow and arrow

Social girls patiently waiting til everyone finished with archery

The next clue was by the slide.  Trust me - its in there somewhere!

Then we played water balloon volley ball

Well, we tried, but then we told the kids just to throw them at each other.

The last game was to turn the triplet cubs back into little princes.
Using sponges, they had to move the water from the bears bucket to the empty princes bucket.

The loved it!

Then it was time for cake.  There was just a little breeze, but we couldn't get those candles lit at all!

Conni was embarrassed after everyone sang to her

I told you - the cake was nummy!

Izzie gave Conni some stylish accessories and now they match!

Hudson gave Conni a Merida shirt

Right after this picture she literally kissed the shirt!

Conni loved the bow and arrow set from Xander

Justine and Conni worked together to find all the fun craft supplies

Roman patiently watching Conni open her Dora stickers and Merida playset

Mara was so patient to be the last one to give gifts.  Conni loved all the art supplies.

Conni and her friends (minus Izzie, who had to leave early).
Thanks for all the fun kids!

I am so happy that Conni has so many good friends that love her.  She is very social and she is so excited whenever anyone can come over to play.  She loved her Merida Water Party!

Grandpa's Cabin

We got together this last Sunday with my family up at my Grandpa's cabin.  This place holds so many memories!  When I was a kid, we would go up all summer long and hike around with Grandpa.  In the winter, we would go up every Thanksgiving to go sledding.  Here's some of my favorite pics from our trip this weekend.

The Crystal Room (aka the Outhouse)
There really is a crystal chandelier inside!
Its still used in the winter.
Grandpa (and now my uncles) make sure there's a heater
running so we girls don't freeze our tush when we gotta go.

Cool story about the cabin - when my grandparents bought it there was only one main floor.  Grandpa - with the help of uncles and friends - added on two more floors above and raised it up a level to put a garage underneath.  The pillar almost directly under my feet is one of several around the outside that they put in to raise it.

When it was time to head home, I ran in to use the bathroom.  I was completely caught off guard to see my grandpa's robe still hanging on the back of the door - just like it always was when we were little.  It was sad and comforting at the same time - and one of my favorite moments from this weekend cause it's like Grandpa was saying hi and reminding me he's still there.  :)
