Garden update

The summer squash are clearly the most aggressive plant. I find I have to move them over often to avoid them overshadowing the tomato plants. Its beginning to flower and there are small squash starting to show themselves.

The winter squash is the adaptive plant. It is starting to flower but its having to make its way in the world by squeezing to the right of the summer squash. Its making it though.

The cucumber is the most obedient plant. I was able to train it to grow outside of the planter. Its starting to flower.

The tomatos and bell pepper plants are my new transplants. We'll see how they do. So far they are hanging in there.

Overall, we're enjoying our first attemt at gardening. Maybe we'll keep working ont it.

We've been slimed!

Well any good sci fi fan will note that famous line came first from a ghostbuster after an encounter with a little green ghost, we got slimed this week in an effort to cut down the effects of cactus' and other pointy plants here in the phoenix valley.

We loaded our bikes with 8oz of the green puncture proofing substance called slime in each tire. M' was a little concerned that we would have to buy a new tube for my back tire but the slime did the trick. Now I just have to fight the urge to drive over something pointy to see the slime in action. :)

We got really busy this weekend in the kitchen making spring rolls ' er my bad egg rolls... what is the difference anyway? We even made some sweet and sour sauce. If you ever wondered what goes into it here is the secret. 1.5 cups sugar .25 cups white vinegar, and ketchup untill it turns red :) Sounds sketchy but tastes delicious!

We are excited about a BBQ we are going to have on the 11th. Your all invited just make sure to RSVP :)

M's Turn

About a year ago, I read an article by Amy Sutherland, entitled, "What Shamu Taught Me About My Marriage" Well, it changed my life, and it changed J's life too. At one point she mentions how the trainee becomes the trainer... Well that just happened.

I frequently remind J that "We're a team" so we do lots of tasks (pleasant and unpleasant) together. After I reminded him about his blog, he reminded me that "we're a team" ... Guess, I'm doing the update this month.

In August we had the pleasure of attending the Finnigan Family reunion in Terra Cota, ON, Canada. It was a great, relaxing, rainy trip that got us out of the AZ heat. It was fantastic to get to spend time with J's family. I even got to meet some I hadn't met yet. They are all wonderful people and I am thrilled to be a part of their family. Here is a sampling of the pictures we took. Actually it is a large sampling because neither of us are very good at taking pictures.

We also started a garden. We've tried planting Thyme, Summer Squash, Winter Squash, Parsley, Lettuce, Cucumber, and yesterday we added Tomato, Red & Green Peppers. So far we still have the squash, cucumbers, and the tomatoes and peppers. Its been a great learning experience. Maybe we'll even get some vegetables. Here's a couple of pictures:
