The Scientist performed by Coldplay in the Audience live SLC, UT

Enjoy Coldplay up close and personal.

Whole Viva la Vida song LIVE at Salt Lake

Since I feel so sorry for all of you who couldn't be there last night. Here is a little taste of what you missed. Janan and I were sitting on the floor on the right side. As great as this home video is, you cannot imagine how awesome it was in person! Enjoy!

My Super Awesome Weekend

Have you ever looked forward to something for a long time only to be horribly disappointed? I've been waiting so long for this weekend, but it did not disappoint!

FIRST: TWILIGHT
Friday afternoon saw me at Twilight with Janan, Jamie, Mom, Gigi and Brittany. I was back again Saturday afternoon again with Janan (we were on our way to our later plans for the evening!), my best friend Pam and her sister Liesha.

First of all, Twilight was funny--even funnier than the book. The movie hit a great balance between the campy, cheesey awesomeness that is Twilight and the sexy, emotional intensity that is the heart of Twilight. All of the essential parts of the story were effectively woven into the screenplay--Bella's awkward relationship with Charlie, the first time Bella sees the Cullens at school (Jasper's expression here is priceless), the first time they talk in biology, Port Angeles--the rescue and the restaurant, the meadow... I just realized that this list could go on and on.

To avoid spoilering, here is a brief list of some favorite scenes:
--Edward. . . piano
--Bella. . . golden onion
--Edward and Bella. . .gazebo
I just realized that this list could go on and on.

Of course, the movie is not without it's flaws but considering the budget and constraints of making this movie, I am duly impressed and highly entertained. I recommend seeing the movie at least twice(Of course, I plan to exceed my own recommendation)--the first time you'll be a little distracted trying to compare it to the books. The second time you can just enjoy the BONUS that it is.

SECOND: COLDPLAY
I LOVE Coldplay--definitely my favorite band. And if they weren't before they certainly would have been after last night. Their music is consistently original, beautiful, emotive, surprising, and always entertaining.

Even with the best bands, concerts can be hit and miss--the audience has a big effect, sometimes the band is more off than on that night, technical problems are always a risk. . . You get the idea. So when you get to see your favorite band on tour for maybe their best album yet with one of your best friends and fellow enthusiasts surrounded by an audience that seem to be channeling the same energy and a band that hits it out of the park. . . Euphoric!

The show was technically awesome and I have never heard Coldplay sound better in any live performance. They started off with the brilliant instrumental opening track from the Viva La Vida album, "Life in Technicolor" and moved right into "Violet Hill." The night just kept getting better and better--with each new song Janan or I would say, "Oh I love this one!" Chris Martin danced his heart out and still managed to sing amazingly well--he paced the show with several numbers where he rested at the piano. Did I mention how great he was on the piano! The show was a visual treat as well with a fantastic light show, giant globes that flashed colors and acted at times as movie screens replaying the onstage action. The band members played their hearts out as well--those are hard working boys. They surprised us all midshow by disappearing off stage and showing up in the middle of the crowd at the back of the arena. Janan and I were so jealous of those people in those previously-seeming crappy seats! They proceeded to play some acoustic versions of a few songs, including The Scientist. They finished off the night back on the big stage performing several more songs including "Lovers in Japan" at which point thousands of paper butterflies were release over the floor audience for several minutes. And finally sang one of my all time favorites "Yellow" for the encore.

Did I mention that I LOVE Coldplay!

Bee's New Style

Baby Bee got her hair cut yesterday. She loved the whole process and the result. We needed a break from frequent and painful hair detangling sessions!

Before--from October 31st

After--from November 14th
