Sunday evening I went to an interesting salon at Ziggy Books.
Jocelyne Robinson discussed her recycled art work and Zophia Kiefer talked about her amazing story of going from a glamourous life to living in a tent in Science World's tent city.

Community Profile: Ziggy Books

The Drive is home to a brand new bookstore with an interesting story of it's own to tell.

The owner, Kali Jones, was recently found herself in a dilema.
Her father passed away and left her and her stepbrother Frank with a staggering legacy - a private collection of well over 5000 books, mostly hardcover and non-fiction, all in nearly mint condition.
"He was just a collector and he wanted to encourage me to read, too."
The problem was, Jones spends most of her time since leaving East Vancouver, living in Sicily, and Frank calls Calgary home, so neither could afford to take over the library. What to do?
Open a bookstore on Commercial Drive!
She discovered that the store at 3rd and Commercial where the Money Mart was was available, and so they set up shop.
Not long after it opened, the store got a boost when a CBC reporter was passing by and dropped in.
The subsequent story definately helped business and the ecclectic selection has brought out a few serious collectors with varied and exotic tastes.
She's even making money online, shipping books she advertises to Europe and beyond.
