Spencer's facility, some scary stuff...

Today Carly, Farrah, Hudson and I went down to Spencer's facility for a little Halloween fun. Spencer's facility has this "parade" of costumes every year - they all dress up, but it wasn't going to be until 2pm, which we all know is nap time... so we went at 11am just so we could show everyone how cute Hudson the Lion and Farrah the Robin were.
So let me back up to stage this story. I have been making this outfit (scarecrow) for Spencer for the past couple of days when I find a min here or there... not to bad actually - the finished product. So this morning as Spencer was about to head out he came to me, as I was laying in bed - I know lazy. He said I was in a delirium, but really I wasn't - it was 7:30... I wasn't talking to him in my sleep. He would say anything to take the "blame" off him at this point. he he. So I told him how to "put" together his outfit. I then explained to get the brown face paint and do a triangle over his nose. (you know since the nose is a slight triangle itself). Off he went! So at 9am this morning I get a call from him telling me to get the kids ready fast and to bring the other part to his costume, he had decided that dressing in this outfit wasn't too bad. So I told him I would do my best. After nailing my child to the ground and forcing his costume on yet again, we arrived. I came in the to find my husband like this:
Okay - any one sense a problem with his "triangle" nose? Both Carly and I looked at him and I tried not to make a "big" deal about his nose - I tried to not even comment, since I didn't know if he put his makeup on or someone around me had done it for him. I really wasn't too worried about him as I was someone else's feelings. So I kind of muttered under my breath "we need to fix your nose". We went into his office with Carly, and I said "Spencer what on earth happened?!" Carly busted out laughing and I thought we both were about to cry from laughing at him. Mostly for the fact that he had no idea. It honestly, I am being true here, looked like he had rubbed his nose in a piece of poop. It wasn't only that the nose was a almost an oval as it was how thick he put this brown face paint on, it was chunky. All Carly and I were thinking was "POOP". It was one of the more hilarious things today - it may have taken the cake. So after he washed that poop off his nose I fixed it:

Much better.
Once we got his costume on and were done laughing out loud we walked out and no kidding, I would say close to 5-6 people commented on how Spencer got a new nose and that it looked a lot better. Yes, we did agree with them.
So Spencer took Hudson around and Carly carried Farrah and we showed everyone how blasted cute these two were.
Farrah all smiles as a little Robin

My big Scarecrow and little Lion, Dorthy didn't have time to produce her costume, me.

Rockin' Robin

I love it!

Happy Halloween!!!

pumpkin patch

Here are some pictures form our visit to the pumpkin patch a few days ago... Hudson threw the biggest fit when we left; and of course I was the one struggling to carry him out... I had kungfoo grip on the child as it tried to move every way I didn't. He is getting too big for me! Spencer was the smart one who offered to go and get the "car" ready. Why didn't I think of that! Needless to say, it was fun to be there with them.

Peanut Blossom Spider Cookies

I was making some cookies for a friend; and let's be honest they were for me too. The cookies just didn't look festive enough so I added some pipping to them and ta-da... spider legs. I know spiders usually have 8 legs, but these only had 6, there wasn't enough pipping to go around. This is because Hudson saw what I was doing and wanted to do his own, via the picture below. He was so meticulous in placing each one I cut for him... it was so fun to see him get creative. What was even better then what his cookie looked like, is that he was so PROUD of his cookie that he held it and walked around the house looking for Spencer and showing him a few times before setting the cookie down (that was a run-on sent., I know. Too lazy to go back and change it.) Good times, good times.

Trunk-or-Treat

Tonight was the trunk or treat for our ward, and a couple other wards. Here are some REALLY cute pictures of Hudson in his Lion costume, which I had to almost force him to wear. He was not about it at first, but warmed up to the idea once I told him he couldn't get candy if he didn't have it on. He is a sugar man, sweet tooth major, must get that one from his dad or Aunt Aarean. I tend not to be a candy freak?! Happy Halloween Everyone!!!

Hudson thought sitting in our car passing out candy was the best, until he realized he could be filling his own bag with candy - then he was all about that.

He found a new love... Starburts

Hudson would only wear the hood of his costume for not even a second. That is until people would tell him how cute he looked, then he would wear it for about 5 sec.

When he got home he quickly dumped out all his candy and was deciding on which to eat first.

The "silver" bell

The other day Hudson was watching a scene of Polar Express; now added to his favorites. I stopped what I was doing for a moment to watch the part where the silver bell falls off the sleigh and rolls over to the "kid", which I am not sure if he even has a name?! I love this part. So I am standing there watching the scene when my attention turns to my little man; whom is also intrigued by this part - like ever other part with the actual train in it. As I am watching him and the bell fly off the sleigh I notice his eyes light up (Hudson) and this huge smile spread across his face. He then turns, before the bell even hit the ground in the movie, and runs to somewhere to retrieve this bell.
It is a bell which while in Union Square last year at Christmas time we bought at Macys to suffice his tantrum. He has always kept it in some special place. It is the kind where the bell is connected to a ribbon/red rope like a necklace. So you can where the bell during the Holiday season. So anyway he runs out of his room, I think, and is holding this bell so tight in his hands smiling at the TV. He then proceeded to look down at the bell in his hands and then at the movie a couple of times. It is then that I actually put two and two together. He thought this bell in his hands was the actual bell from the movie, and was so over joyed that he had it in his little hands. It also dawned on me why he was so adamant on wearing the bell where ever we went for the past couple of weeks; it has been since he has started watching the movie. My eyes got all teary thinking of the innocence and the imagination of a child. It melted me to the core. It has given me a whole new love for this movie and bells.

Costco kiss

Hudson and I were in Costco yesterday and I bought him a Hot Dog, which he ate the whole thing... that is A LOT of meat. I was so happy he ate the whole thing... he usually only eats two bites. Anyway...
My "Way" of getting at least 1/2 way through my shopping with him in the cart, sitting, is to buy him some sort of food and to let him read all the books he wants; we collect from the "book" aisle and then leave them with the cashier at the end. They love us for that one.
So once he was done eating and I had run out of luck and time with my stationary son, I got him out of the cart to follow me. He does okay... I just feel like I call his name every 2 seconds and I never stop until in the car. As all of you Costco shoppers know not only are the Halloween decor and candy out in the store but there are at least 2-3 aisles dedicated to Christmas already. Hudson loves this... he loves the huge snowmen and animals that move. So we were heading down the aisles for the 2nd time and I stubbed my toe on the wheel of the cart. OUCH! I winced and kept saying "shoot shoot, crap, shoot shoot my toe"! Hudson just stared at me... and once he heard me say toe, he fell to the floor. Head on the ground (practically) and put his lips all over my toes. He just kissed them for about 20 seconds, which is a long time. It made me laugh and forget about my toe - it melted me. It kind of grossed me out he was flat on the floor at first, but when he kissed my toe to make sure I was okay... the dirt didn't matter as much. It was so sweet. Something you wish you had taped. I just thought I would share that. I don't want to forget it, so I am blogging it.

Hudson started Pre-School

Hudson pointing to his new school

Waiting for daddy to come and wish him luck

Posing for the "1st day of pre-school" picture. Don't you want to eat him and his backpack?!?!

The Monday after we got back from our trip, I think it was the 17th of Sept., Hudson hit a "milestone", he started pre-school. I remember thinking "how did my mom get all of us ready for grade school growing up?!??" I couldn't even get a 2 year old ready in time. Maybe it was because we both slept it. Which is unheard of, sometimes. I think I need to figure out my "time management skills" once again. We weren't late, but we're rushed. And I hate being rushed, just because I forget everything when "rushing" is occurring. So we got to his school, which by the way is the jackpot for a 2 year old. There is this High School teacher who teaches a "child development Class", and the class is Hudson's pre-school. He has a different High School Buddy every hour, and although his 1st hour buddy was a little "skanky" (haven't had her since, thank goodness), the rest were great. I actually stayed the whole three hours the first day. I sat in the corner and let him know I was there. (A tid-bit of history of Hudson and me: we are semi connected. He usually doesn't let me step out of a room without following me. So really this one day a week pre-school is something I am trying to use to slowly nip this one "connected problem" in the rear. Nursery on Sunday isn't a problem for him, only because I am in nursery. USUALLY not a good thing to have the parents in the nursery, of the nursery age kids... only because then they assume you are going to be everywhere with them at all times - just my experience.) He did alright (only one melt down when I tried to leave), would look over every 2 min. to make sure I was sitting in my chair and would wave and come and give me kisses. Which I really don't mind at all. Love the kisses and affection. So the next Monday, when time to go Hudson was sick so we missed. But the next Monday he went and I stayed for about 5-10 min and left! I didn't know what to do with myself. Three whole hours of just me?!?! And not having to pay a babysitter!?!? Wow. So I did a little antique shopping, had some hot chocolate and the cherry on top I got to have lunch with my cute Husband, who works 2 min. away from Hudson's school. So I was in! Mondays are amazing days. Hudson does so well, he is ready to go home when the time comes, eats his whole lunch and showers me with kisses when I arrive. He also takes 3-4 hour napes on Mondays.... I hear angels singing. This is a good thing for us all. Plus he is learning!!!

Maui oh Maui

So... about a month ago, I know lame it has taken this long to post about, Spencer and I slipped of to beautiful Maui, Hawaii. It really was dreamy and quiet. Almost too quiet. Spencer I think had this image in his head of surfing the waves in Maui and activities activities and activities. Needless to say he was a little bummed. If anyone has been to Maui, or heard of it... you know there are NO waves. Spencer did attempt. He rented a surf board and paddled out to were some surfers were, all seating on their boards, and waited. I watched on the beach reading and laughing at him. There were these little itty bitty waves he would jump at, hoping that they would turn into at least a 3 foot wave... ha ha. Nope. So, renting boards was over with. Who wants to pay to sit on a board in the middle of the ocean? Not me, or Spencer. So Spencer spent the majority of his time jumping off "black rock" and snorkeling. We were staying at the Sheraton on Kannapali (sp?) beach. It was very nice.
I do think that my husband has decided that I am a bit boring, all I wanted to do was swim a little and read. By the time I was done with my 3rd book I felt a little bad, so tried to be more active, this is when he "found" a book. We swapped at this point. Kind of funny actually.
We did take a day to drive the road to Hana, and although it was beautiful (especailly in our hot orange Mustang convertible... ha ha ha, can anyone say tourists?), after the 1 hour, we wanted to turn back. But I made Spencer keep going. I remembered the 7 pools that were so magical when I was little (I came to Maui about 6-7th grade with a friend and her family), and I remember there was this little white church on a peninsula surrounded by a black sanded beach. It was , and still it, one of the most beautiful memories of the islands I have. So I kept telling Spencer how I wanted to see it again. Come to find out, after driving three hours on the road to hana. The earth quakes that happened a year or more ago took half the road to hana... so we were about three miles out of luck. I wanted to SCREAM! So we wasted a whole day driving. I will never drive "the road to Hana" again, so not worth it. At least we think so. So we stopped off at "Mama's Fish House" to eat some yummy fish (everyone we had talked to had mentioned this place, so we knew it would be gold) - ummm note to self: Don't trust anyone when it comes to food! It was nasty! And they charges for re-fills on drinks. We should have seen this and backed out at once. Any place that does that usually stinks. And it sure did. But the location was amazing!!! And almost worth half our check.
Other than that we really loved the time spent in Maui. We had such a good time not having to "think" and just hanging out together. However, Hudson was missed way too much. :) I think I might have major problems. I was physically sick by the third day because I missed him so much. So sad I know. He did great. He did better with his Nana, then he does with me. Minded her to a "T". What a peach. At least he minds others.
So now we are back, and getting better (still not 100%) from this sickness. Mainly me. And back into the groove of things. We love taking time to go on vacations, but love coming home almost even more. I think that is a good thing. How horrible it would be to never want to come home.

The Adventures of Mr. H

(note: spencer has taken my camera with him to Utah and so has left me empty handed in the department of posting pictures... sorry - we will get them up and running when he gets back this weekened.)

Last night as I put Hudson in the bath, and after washing him down I walked out to get on the computer right outside the bathroom. (don't worry there is constant talking and noise... I know he is not drowning... when it gets quiet I check, or just talk to him, just FYI - for all you worrisome people). I usually let him "swim" in the bath until he wants out, which is about 10 min. He loves the bath and could get in and enjoy it three times a day if I let him. You give him some toy cars and animals and he is set. Who needs a pool?!?!?
Anyway - I know I have a little boy, and a somewhat mischievous one at that. So as I entered the bathroom I was stunned (but not surprised, if that makes sense) to see all my clean wash soaked in the bathtub with my son sitting on them. He was just smiling. Let me give you a little history in my laundry skills: or "space to do my laundry", when I hang dry my clothes, which is about 80% of my clothes, I have to hang dry them over the shower rail. It works out great and drys in hours... amazing. So, with that said I had about 8 items of clothing hanging, pretty high up, over the shower when Hudson got in the bath. Needless to say one pant leg was dangling a little low and when he pulled the rest came down with it.
So today I am re-doing my wash, some of it. And trying to clean up after the tornado that hits daily in my house, aka Hudson. He is one of a kind, and makes me laugh... I would never want anything else, except in those mili-seconds when coming upon floors covered in raisins, yogos, popcorn, and floating laundry. He is just what we ordered!
