NO TIME TO WASTE

Everyone - No Time To Waste

The autoplay is on just for the video, not for the sound (so as not to annoy you), so press play above first! The connection between the song and this video seems to be completely random, were it not for the fact that rhythmically, these two seem made for each other. (I know, it’s only because this song and the original soundtrack of the video are more or less the same 4-4 tempo, but whatever). The track has been a favourite of mine for a while, although it was actually only months after purchase that I really started to appreciate it. If you've been reading this site for a while, you'll know that Joakim and Kindness are personal favourites of mine, and 'No Time To Waste' was their first coproduction under their 'Everyone' guise. It sounds as if it was made to be played solely in dark basements in the early morning hours, but I like the contradiction of pairing it with this bright, open landscape video of which you would assume it would be paired with hazy female vocals and summery jingles that underline the inner "goddess" of these acrobats. Note - I actually don't want to criticise the original choice of music, if you turn the volume of the video back up you'll notice it works perfectly to create the atmosphere the director wanted. But stereotypes are here to be broken PS 1 - The Everyone release was a vinyl only release on Crowdspacer, and it's out of stock in most shops, so Discogs is the place to get it if you're interested ... PS 2- the video is Shake It Off by Agostina Gálvez, made for Nowness.com .

S E O D

I know the year hasn't ended yet, but there's already so much stuff to look forward to in 2012 music-wise, and not in the least bit because after about 2 years of radio silence, Kindness / Adam Bainbridge came with the news of an album for 2012 - Zdar produced no less! There's been a single out already, Cyan, so in case you somehow missed out on it you can check the video and buy it here, it's got some weird/cool locked grooves on the B-side as well.
As for this track, I found myself singing along to lyrics I thought I'd never heard before until I realised there was this track I may or may not have been playing quite a lot on Myspace 'back in the days', a release that eventually never came out but now finally will be, as a white label in January (with a Zdar dub on the B-side), and then later in the year on the album.
What's so great about this track is that it has a seemingly overload of ideas thrown together, yet instead of creating one big mess, it swiftly jumps from one thing to the next, from psychedelic synths to an addictive bassline, vocals, lots of percussion, drum machine, dramatic piano chords, sax solo, etc. - you name it, it's in there.

SWINGING PARTY

This summer I came across this video by this guy called Kindness (Adam Bainbridge), so uncomplicated, so short yet plain awesome. Next thing I know the track is stuck in my head and so it has been up until now. It's actually the b-side to another great song, Swinging Party; a cover originally by Paul Westerberg. Prepare yourself to get these stuck in your head.
