An Observation While Driving Home

First, I don't want anyone to become offended by the following post. I didn't intend to insert a disclaimer, but after consideration, while driving home, I decided it's best, since I don't like offending people, unless they deserve such treatment, or need a reality check on their limited ability to logically examine information, remove any preconceived prejudices, and find they find credibility with my ramblings. 

So, here we go:

I was driving by a local EMS service location (that's what used to be an ambulance service, but "ambulance" doesn't have the same thrill of using an acronym.) and noticed five of the employees standing in a circle outside. Since I didn't have much time to determine what they were doing, I could only examine the individuasl and analyze their appearance.

All of the men had the same body shape, which is best described as the same height,  pear shaped, with narrow shoulders, fairly thin arms, and a hefty steel belted truck radial strapped under their shirt. A less discerning observation would yield an opinion of family members standing around a pit; waiting for the links to be done enough to eat on a bun.

My first thought was: "What would happen, if they were to help me in a dire medical emergency, and one had a heart attack, or a slipped disc.... or something?" The thought provoked possible solutions, such as one being strong enough to just throw me over their shoulder, and ignore the one having the heart attack. As my thoughts continued, I wondered about the protocol for such an event.

My mind wondered through possible solutions. Just throwing me over their shoulder was a possibility, since I only weigh about 150 pounds, and even I could manage that. That, and maybe there's a special dolly for handling the other end of the gurney, when one of the emergency technicians has a medical problem that prevents them from taking care of a patient.

My mind wandered further, and I tried to determine it it's possible for an EMT to drive, take care of two patients, and talk on the radio. I couldn't arrive at any logical solution, so I settled on this situation would require a call for backup, and a wait. That, to me, could result in terrible problems. Two people with life threatening injuries shouldn't have to wait beyond the "golden hour"; especially if the help arriving could have a heart attack, or a slipped disc.

I was left with a conundrum, which was disconcerting. What would happen?

I have no solution, except to not allow myself to be in that situation, or to be extremely inebriated if it does. I feel better now, and will enjoy the birds, as they make a strong effort to empty the bird feeder.

Somebody 'Splain This

I looked at my stats, where visitors were from and found my own blog was the source of most of the visits over the night. What the heck?

There Will Not Be a Poll

I could probably figure one out, but polls are numbers, generated by people, that can be a little dishonest on the internet. That's why I'm only asking for comments; by real people or extremely talented bots.

So, I have a question:

During all this hoopla about the name "Washington Redskins", do you actually know anyone that's offended by the name? If so, did you ask for a reason? If you're offended, explain to me why.

I'm holding my breath; don't make me pass out.

Quandary

I sold my mother's car a few months ago, through a bank, to a private individual. All legal paths were followed and no circus animals were hurt during the process.

I received a notice for payment from a far away toll agency, because the car was used to avoid multiple tolls, after the date of the sale.

I wrote on the original notice that my mother was deceased and the car was sold before the toll running. Apparently, that doesn't satisfy the bureaucrats, so I've explained to the point of my quandary.

Should I send a copy of the bill of sale, transferred title and a letter? Or, should I just send a Death Certificate and see how they respond?

If I Was President

I wouldn't want to be President. I like my freedom from constant public scrutiny and I would be uncomfortable if I had somebody always knowing when I was going to the can. They might start counting, leak (yes, that's a pun) the information and I'd find my toilet habits were public knowledge.

Anyway. If I was President, I'd give all my military leader full permission to allow concealed carry permit holders to carry their weapons on military bases. Those that didn't follow the logical path and allow such a thing would be relieved of their command.

I would have done that after the Fort Hood massacre. I wonder why the President didn't do this?

I Have a Question

I think the government spends too much money. One expenditure I find unnecessary is that used for National Parks. This position leads to some interesting conversations.

So, other than liking the idea of huge sections of land you can't buy, use, and being responsible for upkeep, why is it such a good idea?

I Wonder What Would Happen...

...if a real reporter told Jay Carney: "Carney, I think you're full of shit. Quit lying and squirming like a school boy with the runs."

Leaving the Horse and Buggy Days

I trim hedges with what looks like a big pair of sizzors. My wife wants to do this, with hedge trimmers and leans toward the battery powered trimmers.

I think this is a wonderful opportunity for me to shed a responsibility and gain a helper, but I'm clueless on the best models.

Any suggestions? Remember: foolproof, safe, long charge life and lightweight with an affordable price. Don't suggest some commercial product that weighs too much and has a battery that will start a dozer. While I may lean towards such a thing, my wife doesn't think that way and I damn sure don't need to piss off my partner.

Advice

I don't use Google Plus. Not that I'm not open to the idea, but I'm wary of anything shiny and new....look what happened to the Indians that sold Manhattan Island.

I'm looking for expert advice. Is it a good idea? According to Google, everything  will become much better. I don't believe them, since I'm a grouchy, cynical old fart with a bad elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome and a knee that has a tendency to go out every now and then.

When Things Don't Work

I've dealt with public employees and bureaucracy during my life. In general, my perception is of feckless organizations that exist because most people don't spend the time to analyze how their tax dollars or spent or even question why their money is being taken for what is obviously substandard work and organization.

Most of the time, the problems associated with inefficiency, waste and corruption are perceived as byproducts of a system that doesn't have the resources to compete with the private sector's lure of better money and benefits. Maybe so, in the past, but that's not how it is any longer. The public sector is paying at the level of the private sector, even better at some levels, yet the problems are worse.

So, I'll end this post with some questions: With all the obvious problems with bureaucracy and inefficiency, do you  think they do any better with handling election results and counting votes? With the possibility of election results changing the nature of public functions, do you think public employees would either be sloppy with their task of counting votes, or deliberately mismanage their position for personal gain? Do you think many in the media would intentionally fail to investigate corruption to continue an agenda?

Think about the questions, answer truthfully and then decide what you think should happen to change things you don't like.

Somebody 'Splain This to Me

First, I'll qualify this post by saying I'm writing completely from personal experience. My experience may be unique, which is why I'm asking the question.

I've been motivating around the adult/real world around 40 years. In that time, I've bought some important things, opened bank accounts, dealt with public officials and had various other experiences requiring a form of identification that is official and has my photograph. So, why would anyone assume - by word alone - someone is legally voting?

Have I missed something, or are some people so ate up with the dumbass, they believe saying otherwise is logical ?

I'll await the informative comments.

...if bureaucrats have to stand in line to get in Hell? It would only be fair and I'd watch the process on Youtube.

So, What's The Deal?

I went to examine a project site in my home town. The proposed site is in a residential area that was developed to attract potential home buyers with the money to build large homes. Somewhere during the development, a rather bright bureaucrat, or government official, decided to build low income apartments in the middle of the area. So, now the property values have plummeted, the area is developing the urban blight of closed businesses and anyone with the ability to leave is doing so like a scalded dog.

So, what's the deal? What kind of dumbass would allow such an obvious stealing of worth, tax value and the introduction of people that don't give a rodent's fanny about their neighborhood? How can you expect any positive outcome from displacing people that pay taxes and keep their homes well kept for those that wander the streets, deal drugs, steal at every chance and leave their 44 oz empties up and down the streets?

This is insanity.

And Another Thing...

What's this crap about the economy rebounding? Where? Washington D.C.? Green Manufacturing and Tax Pit Inc.? It's not rebounding in my life. My salary is still frozen at a 2008 level, the cost of fuel is going up, the cost of groceries is going up, the cost of insurance is going up and I paid more in taxes last year. So, where's his rebounding economy?

Damn the lying politicians and press.
