Thankfully January was a pretty uneventful month. I had been looking back in my planner/journal from last year and I just had a huge sigh of relief that things are better now. At this time in 2023 we were going through all of Will's migraine stuff. It was terrible. We didn't know what was going on, so many doctor's appointments and so much uncertainty. Then his horrible hospital treatment that made him worse, but was actually a blessing in disguise because it helped us finally find his diagnosis: hemiplegic migraines (bad). But, the good news is, in the last year, he has not experienced a severe one; it's as simple as no sports, no migraines (and some emergency meds). Luckily he has found other things he likes more than sports (Omeira + welding).
Here is our January. We did have some FREEZING cold temps that lasted a while. I was hoping that cold snap would do more to kill the fly and mosquito population, but no. They're back.
Now that Scut Farkus is gone (RIP) the 2 cats are happy. But Low Rider showed up and has upset the feline balance again.
So many of my pics are from IG stories, so that's why there's captioning on them. Homemade tallow balm, since I ran out of my face lotion. Milo loves when I slather myself in beef fat. It is my irrational nightmare that the dogs will eat my face when I'm sleeping when I've moisturized with this.
Front porch shutters. This was the ONE thing I genuinely wanted for 2023. I put it down for the main house project (at least on MY list). Tyler got 1 set done and it makes such a huge difference on the house. I hope it doesn't take another year to get the others up.
Cat bunk beds
New Baby!! This is Albert, Eleanor's boy. We watched her in labor, started walking away, turned and there was a tiny calf. The fun thing about him is he's a dun. We have the Dexter rainbow--all from one bull!
Wyatt was ordained a Deacon. He takes his duties very seriously and loves passing the sacrament.
We had to milk Eleanor--look at this colustrom. We are going to train her to be our next milk cow.
Wyatt at Scouts with the city council man.
This is my favorite set of dishware. I love the farm scenes so much. I look for it everytime I thrift. But I splurged on an ebay creamer, cause, we have cream.
Tyler has started a Youtube Channel which has been very handy in getting things done around here.
Amelia did Wyatt's hair. I love his face.
Winter garden.
In the cold Silas has been sneaking in the green barn. He's a cozy cat.
