So my sister Becky talked to me a long time ago about how she does her coupons and how much money she saves. (A TON of money... she does awesome!) She showed me her organization system and explained everything to me and it just seemed very overwhelming. While I wanted to save money... I didn't want to put in that much effort. Well it turns out it isn't that much effort after all, and it is totally worth it! There are websites that keep track of everything for you and all you have to do is buy the Sunday paper, clip your coupons, and make your list! This is my favorite web site down here. (You can sign up for a 4 week free trial) She keeps track of all the store sales and then lets you know how to combine store and manufacturers coupons for the best savings. I spent $110 yesterday and saved $80. That isn't as impressive as what some of my friends have done (E) but it was pretty good for my first time. (I couldn't get my hands on some of the coupons but this was only my first week with the Sunday paper) We are used to spending over $100 per week on groceries down here and most of what I bought last night will last us 2 weeks! I am so excited about this. I came home from the store last night and organized my coupons and marked my success on the receipts.
Orange just highlights my total savings, Blue are items that ended up being over 50% off, Yellow shows items that ended up $1 or less, and Green are items that were free! (That does not include "buy one get one free," these were items that were already on sale and combined with a coupon ended up being free.) I am so excited about this new hobby! How dorky am I?
