The wonderful world of coupons

So my sister Becky talked to me a long time ago about how she does her coupons and how much money she saves. (A TON of money... she does awesome!) She showed me her organization system and explained everything to me and it just seemed very overwhelming. While I wanted to save money... I didn't want to put in that much effort. Well it turns out it isn't that much effort after all, and it is totally worth it! There are websites that keep track of everything for you and all you have to do is buy the Sunday paper, clip your coupons, and make your list! This is my favorite web site down here. (You can sign up for a 4 week free trial) She keeps track of all the store sales and then lets you know how to combine store and manufacturers coupons for the best savings. I spent $110 yesterday and saved $80. That isn't as impressive as what some of my friends have done (E) but it was pretty good for my first time. (I couldn't get my hands on some of the coupons but this was only my first week with the Sunday paper) We are used to spending over $100 per week on groceries down here and most of what I bought last night will last us 2 weeks! I am so excited about this. I came home from the store last night and organized my coupons and marked my success on the receipts.

Orange just highlights my total savings, Blue are items that ended up being over 50% off, Yellow shows items that ended up $1 or less, and Green are items that were free! (That does not include "buy one get one free," these were items that were already on sale and combined with a coupon ended up being free.) I am so excited about this new hobby! How dorky am I?

My favorite number is...

That's right... lucky 13. Congratulations Linds! I will get your fun Key West package in the mail shortly. In the meantime, it would be helpful if you could email me with your address =)

Thanks for playing friends!

Apparently I have only one friend who likes free stuff?

I am going shopping Monday and would like to get some fun things for my "pay it forward" package. If you are interested in being the recipient of that package all you have to do is guess my favorite number. (See previous post) Sunday at midnight I will determine the winner. Things are looking really good for you so far Linds =)

Pay it forward!

So I just got this awesome package from my friend Monique! A long while ago (he he) she listed on her blog an opportunity to be randomly selected to receive a fun package. The deal is, you have to turn around and "pay it forward." How fun right!? So I would like to offer a chance for someone to receive a fun Key West package from me. Try to guess my favorite number. Whoever is closest wins. (If you are way off... it won't hurt your chances to tell me how much you love me)

Still heated

Obviously anyone who watched the game last night saw how surprisingly amazing my Raiders played against the Chargers. I have high hopes for the future of my team for the first time in a long time. And Seymour... welcome buddy. Unfortunately we lost in the last minute of the game. So this is my question... why is nobody talking about the freaking BS call that overturned the TD pass to Louis Murphy??? How on earth was that TD stolen away? Am I just missing something? He had clear possession of the ball... got both feet down... still had possession when his butt hit the ground... and because the ball came out when his arm hit the ground it is an incomplete pass!? Are you kidding me? Is there anyone who can explain this to me? Am I just missing some new rule about possession? Seriously I need help on this one. If you are planning on taunting me just don't.

When your toddler takes a pen to your LCD screen...

Try this:
Logan was playing an online ABC game on Saturday while Tyler and I were cleaning the house. We were each checking in on him periodically and he was just keeping himself entertained. I started to get worried when it was really quiet (quiet is ALWAYS bad) and I could no longer hear things like "A... Alligator begins with A." I walked in to find blue pen all over our LCD TV that serves as our computer screen. (Unfortunately I didn't take a picture) I was upset with myself and was fully aware that it was my fault. Luckily Tyler went to Office Max and picked up this cleaner. It worked like a charm and was under $10. I especially loved the cool screen duster.

I think I am going to cry...

Last night my FAVORITE player in the NFL, Safety - Troy Polamalu, had to leave with a knee injury. Yes that's right... my favorite player in the league is not a member of my own team. After leading both teams with 6 tackles & making an AMAZING one-handed INT, he was landed on while in the process of recovering a blocked kick. My breath caught in my chest. I started to worry when he left the field for the locker room. I found out this morning that he has a sprained MCL which could sideline him for 3-6 weeks or more. I am so sad. Polamalu seriously makes me happy. It makes my entire week better just to watch him play. I have never seen such a talented defender who is willing to sacrifice his body the was he does. He is so quick and such a hard hitter... yet such a soft spoken guy off the field. I love him. I am seriously sad. Get better soon!

Watch out Fitzgerald... It looks like the Madden curse is alive and well.
