Some Before and Afters

So... we have finally been painting. It is so exciting to make our home OUR OWN. The white walls were definitely not "us", so it has been fun to see the transformations. Here is what we have finished so far.
Before:

After: We still have some things to change on the wall, (paintings, etc.), but here is the blue-teal room

notice the black mantle, that took 9 hours to paint!

Before: Notice the oak light switch cover

After: probably my favorite part, new electrical covers! Love my electrician!

Up next, we are getting new carpet, tile, and painting our bedroom and master bath!

Another year older

I had my 25th birthday! I don't know why but for some reason I have been stuck thinking I am 22 years old. So for me to turn 25, I don't know where the last three years have gone? Anyway, I love having a Halloween birthday, especially when Halloween is on Sunday, (it means I pretty much get a 3 day weekend of fun celebrations). This year Travis and I threw a little Halloween/birthday party for me and Jenny, my sister-in-law. We share the same birthday, as does every in-law in the family. I guess that means we'll make it! Here are some pictures:

I dressed as Hannah Montana, and Travis was supposed to dress as Billy Ray Cyrus, but no matter how many different wigs we tried (three I think) he just kept looking like white trash. And that wasn't "pretty" enough for my Trav, so naturally he dressed in my old Marilyn Monroe costume. I feel so lucky to have Trav, he is such a good sport about things like this. I sure love him. Also... he got me a NEW camera this year, so you can probably tell the difference in quality in pictures now, right?? Anyway, I love it so much!

Tom and Jenny. They just moved to Idaho, and we already miss them so much!

My mom totally wins the cake with the costume. She was a flasher, and totally creepy! No one even recognized her for awhile. It was pretty hilarious.

Apparently my family takes Halloween pretty serious. My brother was a jolted dead spanish bride. Creepy McCreeper. My sister also had a great costume, but I didn't even get to see it! But she was a "has-been", she wore a tight shirt so her prego belly stuck out, but it looked like a beer belly and wore her old high school letterman jacket. hilarious.

The birthday girls. The wig got pretty hot... Anyway, this was taken moments before I dropped the cake :( And than the next day, when we were having a birthday dinner with my family, my mom dropped my cake right after I blew out the candles. Needless to say, my diet started yesterday :)

Also, here is my cute nephew, he could not get enough of the chips and dip. He had one in each hand. He's a crack up.

Not only did we have a fun party, but I got to go to two dinners with some of the most amazing ladies I know! I feel so lucky to have such great friends, and I cannot thank them enough for making this past year so amazing.

I didn't get a picture of the other dinner. But I must share the thoughtful gift Aubrey gave me. She gave me three picture frames with old pictures of me and my dad. I cried. a lot. It was so very thoughtful, and she knew exactly how it felt to have that first birthday without a father there to sing Happy Birthday. I didn't think it would be so hard, but it was. I am so grateful for my friendships and the love I am so lucky to receive from those around me. I have an amazing life and I truly could not ask for better friends, family, and husband.

Unforgettable

After telling my Mom a friend has passed away, "her name was Chelsie, she was at my bridal shower". Her response reminded me of what a remarkable girl she is. "The beautiful runner, with the big pretty smile, who sat next to Liz?"

Yes. My mom does not remember people, let alone names. But Chelsie had a gift of leaving an impression on anyone she met.

I am grateful we bonded over the Obama election, but I wish I took the chance to get to know her more. I wish I had the words and strength to heal those closest to her. But I don't. But I will always be grateful, I will pray for her family and dearest friends, and I will run.

Pillow Talk

The following conversation took place after I had a pretty pitiful run...

Travis: Sweetie, are you going to die on Saturday at the Dirty Dash?

Sara: I hope not. What are you going to do Sunday if I do?

Travis: Watch football. The Bronco's are playing the Colt's.

FOOTBALL SEASON IS HERE
