July Roundup

My summer's been relatively quiet, and I haven't done very much other than work and taking my intro classes for my Master's program. So any time that I've gotten to go out and have some fun I've taken advantage of it.

I've been following Gabi over at Young, Fat and Fabulous for a little over a year now and have really come to admire her personal style as well as so many of the plus size bloggers that she's friends with. So a few months ago when I heard that she had organized a plus-sized fashion blogger conference I was ecstatic, although many of the events weren't open to the public (just a few lucky bloggers) she offered something just as great for the readers, by announcing that there would be a Meet& Greet between the bloggers and readers. I RSVPed as soon as I found out.
I brought Nancy and Nicole along with me because social situations always freak me out (whether I really want to be somewhere or not) They weren't too familiar with the bloggers but still had such an amazing time at the store the event was held at RedressNYC. I wish I had talked to more of the bloggers but I was so nervous ( I need to work on that)

The bloggers with some of the ladies of Re/Dress.

Nancy and I fell in love with the little lounge area in the back of the store, so cute.

Me and Gabi, who is officially the very 1st MTV TJ! so excited for her, follow Gabi at @MTVTJ

It was really great to meet such a amazing group of girls who were all really positive and suportive. Can't wait to go back to Re/Dress, especially during the Fashion's Night Out event they're holding next month. To see more from the YFF Conference

A few weeks later we celebrated Nicole's birthday.

on our way to the restaurant listening to The Bawhs aka Rick Ross.

Nikki's bff Christian and his bf Noel. I'm kind of sad that the summer's over, but it's been stressful on many different levels and I'm ready for the weather to cool down and to have my nose in a book.

Life=Complete pt.2

So last week I met the wonderful Gabi from Young,Fat, and Fabulous at the YFF Conference Meet&Greet last week; as well as many other amazing plus-size fashion bloggers ( I'll be covering that in another post really soon) So in addition to organizing a really amazing event, Gabi is also in the running to be MTV's first Twitter Jockey. Her latest challenge is to get as many celebrities as possible to follow her (@Gabifresh)

I suggested the gorgeous Amber Rose. My best friend Mickey recently met her at Russsell Simmons' 4th of July party! (she knew someone, who knew someone haha) This isn't the first time someone in her family met her, last year her sister met her at a club and Amber invited her to sit and chat; I heard that she's really sweet and down to earth (don't let the bitch face fool you)

How cool is that? I hope I'm not more boring than usual on Twitter, haha.

Life=Complete

So I tweeted about this insane dream I had about going to Japan to compete to be Joel McHale's assistant; and having Tila Tequila track us down me down and try to murder me and take my place.

when I checked my account this morning I saw this little gem in my DM box, this totally made my day.

We've Got Obsessions

A few weeks ago Nancy, Nicole and I headed out to Greenpoint to hit up the Fred Flare sample sale, by the time we got there the dirt cheap selections were sparse but that didn't stop us from taking advantage of the 25% off regular priced items in the store. We all found something that we loved, Nicole got a service bell. Nancy and gigantic cupcake mold (and spent the entire car ride back declaring her love for it)and I got an ice cream cone lamp which goes perfectly with the ice cream-y color of my walls.

The saga of my redecoration continues (I'm too lazy for my own good and the fact that I've been watching Daria for the past 2 weeks definitely has something to do with it.)

I'm currently in the beginning stages of going through my closet which is kind of the final place to conquer, that and the clothing bin under my bed, I found over 30 bags and found my old favorite my Gwen Stefani L.A.M.B. bag that she did as a collaboratoin with Lesportsac before launching the regular L.A.M.B. bag collection.

I got it while working at Macy's it was one of about 3 left and when I used my discount I think I got it for about $25 which was a steal because I remember these going for over $150 on eBay at that time.

One of my major blog obsessions lately has been, Galadarling. I've had her link saved on my del.icio.us account for awhile but never really checked up on it too often and realized what a big mistake that was, I really love the positive message she's trying to send out (I'm trying to be less negative about a lot of things.) I also missed the boat on Youtube makeup tutorials and reviews, I've spent the past week subscribing to so many new channels and then watching them on my Blu-Ray getting sucked into that Youtube vortex (you know the one where you go in to browse and watch a video or two and before you know it, you've spent 2-3 hours watching tutorials on how to do Kim Kardashian makeup, yeah it happened) some of my favorite channels are Beautycrush and Lauren Luke.

I've also been listening to Marina and the Diamonds almost non-stop for the past month (her album just officially came out in the US May 25th) along with the new Major Lazer mixtape (link), and the new Theophilus London Mixtape (link) that came out a few weeks ago.

Can't wait for my room to be done with, then I can get on with that magazine post, I'm considering doing it as a video (yay or nay?) and getting back into some sort of regular blogging schedule, and painting the bathroom I share with my brothers (considering shades in the peach, cantaloupe or yellow families)

Thanks for reading about my boring little life :-)

Memories

I've been so lazy about updating, it's been due to a little depression, scattered thoughts, laziness, reading other blogs and lack of inspiration.

I haven't forgot about my best and worst of my magazine collection post, just trying to organize that and get a new external hard drive (can't believe my other one's practically out of space!)
I recently got a new all-in-one printer and plan on saving all our old family photos, I came across this one which was one of my favorites as a kid.

I'm being held by my grandma (it's been almost 2 years since she passed away, still miss her) and my mother is holding my cousin Derby (who is currently training in Georgia and heading out to Afghanistan as an Army Medic, at the end of next month; not to mention just got married to his girlfriend of two years; I can't wait for their actual wedding when he comes back.)

This was taking on the day of our baptism, my mom and aunt (my dad's sister) decided to baptize us together, because my mom was pregnant with me when they had initially planned to baptize him and according to superstition, it's supposed to be bad luck to hold someone else's baby when you're pregnant. I wish I had a time machine, my family always threw kick ass parties back in the day :-)

MagHag

My name is Carsianny and I'm a hoarder, a magazine hoarder to be more specific. It started out simple with an issue or two a month from my older cousins who let me borrow or keep an issue of Seventeen or Sassy at the tender age of 7. I used to sleep with the Johnny Depp issue of Sassy under my pillow (how embarrassing to admit especially since I got it from my cousins years after it was published) I also remember being totally intrigued by the Kurt and Courtney cover it really is a classic in magazine publishing)

Before I knew I was 11 ordering catalogs, like Delia's and and Girlfriends LA, and subscribing to or buying Teen and YM (to name a few). Over the years they managed to become my best friends when I gave up on trying to fit in at a new school and the older sister I never had (I'm the oldest/only girl). So now as I'm in the middle of a big redecorating project I've found myself facing boxes upon boxes of magazine; under my bed, on my desk, in 2 gigantic Lucite containers in my closet, in my attic (you see where this is going.) I'm facing a decision to part with my dearest friends. It was my mother stating "You're going to have to get rid of all of these" that almost moved me to tears, how could I? My dresser I can do without, in fact the last time I got ready in front of a mirror was in December (it probably shows.)

So now I've got about 14 years of magazines to go through and decide what should be kept. First and last issues (as many a magazine has started up and/or folded within this time frame i.e. Cosmogirl, JUMP, Moxiegirl) will get first dibs, as well as those that will just make me laugh (Scott Foley and Jennifer Garner on the cover of YM, bad photoshopping, etc.) and my special binder consisting of pages ripped out from magazines I borrowed from my middle school (hehe) In the end I know it's time to part with them but parting is such sweet sorrow, unless it involves an Ebay transaction.

P.S. I'm considering a big send-off post featuring pictures of the best and worst covers from over the years Yay or Nay?
