Etsy Inspired Challenge #139– Paula Art

Hi there

I wasn’t around to join in the last Etsy Inspired Challenge so you may not be aware that the challenge is now running bi-weekly instead of weekly.

EIC 139

Our challenge this week is based on the shop,  Paula Art, that sells recycled pipe vases, contemporary wall clocks and mixed media originals.

I was inspired by the blue vase and decided to colour my little lanterns in blue and yellow.  I also love the dots on the clock which made me think about how I could bring in some polka dots.

Our sponsor is Shery K Designs, she is offering 3 of her best selling packs as a prize.
I thought I would see if I could combine a few challenges for this card, not something I do often because generally any more than one or two completely confuses me lol.  My poor little head can’t cope with it all!!

The first challenge is CAS-ual Fridays. This is a card-making style I really want to develop, I love the fresh style of CAS cards.   I just missed their button and twine challenge last week, grrr!  Their challenge this week is to use bling so I added some crystals to my little lanterns from Lawn Fawn's 'Lunar Lights' set.

I also want to enter this card into the Lawnscaping Polka Dot Challenge.  I’ve been trying to play along with this one for a few weeks too. I used my Cuttlebug 'Seeing Spots' embossing folder for the background.

Don’t forget to pop on by to our Etsy Inspired DT too to see some more projects inspired by this week’s shop.

On a side note my little princess starts senior school in September, which makes me sad because she’s growing up.   I really want to make sure I spend as much time as I can with her(while she still wants her Mummy around)!  It’s a time of change, which happens to every Mum and I know that with change come good things too but it doesn’t make it any easier.  She truly is such a wonderful little person to be around and I guess I’m scared that could be different as she gets older.

This card sentiment is for me!  I don’t know if you remember at the end of last year I set myself a word for the year which was ‘happy’.  Well, I’ve been making a few changes in all sorts of areas to make that word come true.  Silly things like getting into better routines with household chores, paperwork, that kind of thing, and bigger things like work.  I feel really pleased with how everything is working out.  It’s definitely helped me make better decisions and take baby steps towards what I want to achieve long term.  It’s amazing how empowering just having one goal word can be, it really helps you to focus on what you want.

If you haven’t done it already think of a word that would help you describe what you want to achieve, see how well it can work for you too!

Etsy Inspired Challenge #136 - Bearly Art

Happy Saturday!  Isn’t it lovely having a long weekend?  Our weather was gorgeous yesterday but it’s not supposed to be that great for the next couple of days apparently, thundery showers Sad smile.  Oh well, that means we will have to stay indoors and I can get creative! Smile Every cloud has a silver lining lol

Today it’s time for an Etsy Inspired Challenge and this week we have a shop called Bearly Art who have really unusual clocks for sale, all with different images.  I’ve been in a bit of a cutesy and CAS mood the last few days so I chose the clock with a little crab on and made a card with the phrase ‘We’ve Moved’ on it.  I like mixing up different styles, it's fun.

This little crab from Lawn Fawn’s ‘Critters in the Sea’ set looks like he’s got his home on his back.  I paired it up with the sentiment from a PTI set called ‘Wonderfully Whimsical’, and cut out a few papers from Stella & Rose for the sea and sand.  The twine is from The Twinery and also from Ribbon Girl.  Here’s some more fun clocks… The winner will get a clock of their choice of any of the in stock clocks.

Our sponsors this week are Sassy Cheryl’s who are giving the winner a $5 gift certificate.  Pop on over to each of the girls to see what they’ve created..

Etsy Inspired Challenge #134 - XS Baggage & Co

Hi everyone

Edited to add in correct amount of gift certificate and change my messed up links.  Must have been asleep when I wrote this post, sorr-eeee!! :o)

It's time for some more fun over at Etsy Inspired Challenge though so here is a card I made using our sponsor's digi image, 'Heart-y Petals' by Wax Fruit Company.  They are offering the prize a $20 Gift Certificate, luverly!

Arielle does some fab designs, you may remember this little chocolate one that I did earlier in the week, so much fun to colour in!  I couldn't actually make up my mind which image to use, they're all so nice, but I ended up going for the one shown.

Our shop for inspiration this week is XS Baggage & Co with handmade handbags, purses, laptop and EReader sleeves, gadget cases and accessories.  Oh my, I just LOVE some of the fabrics used, they are SO me!  The prize up for grabs is a gadget keep of the winner's choice!  All visitors will get a 10% discount too just by using the code 'inspired'!

This was the first image that inspired me because I knew I had some Amy Butler Lotus paper that was a similar pattern but in different colours, this is one of my all time favourite 12 x 12 paper pads.

As you've probably noticed anything polka is my thing and this is no exception!

This last one is just yummy colours, I wouldn't normally put those colours together, but it's fab!

We sadly say goodbye to our guest designer, Libby Hickson, who is also my teamie on the Play Date Cafe, and wish a warm welcome to our April Designer, Kimme Leach.  Pop on over to see what delights they have in store for you this week..

Etsy Inspired Challenge #132 - Fresh Metal Jewelry

Hello everyone!

It's time for this week's Etsy Inspired Challenge.  I thought I'd bring a bit of colour into your life!  They say carrots are good for your eyesight, well if you look very closely at the strip of digi paper running down the centre of the card you may well be able to make out little carrots!

This card is based on this week's Card Patterns sketch here.  I've moved the bow and I just did an extra wide panel instead of the embossed strips.

So onto our challenge....

We have a fun shop for you this week - Fresh Metal Jewellery who are giving away this gorgeous Pretty Posey Vintage Lace Necklace.  Lots of the items for sale are reused or upcycled vintage items.

Look at this gorgeous colour combo..

and these were what inspired the flowers on my card.  They reminded me of little lettuces for my bunnies lol

Our sponsor this week is Amber Ink.

AmberInk was started by a mother and daughter team. Amber lives in the East, Pam lives in the West. Amber is an Emmy nominated children's animator and illustrator, who creates from her Brooklyn, New York studio. Although they do carry some clear stamps, the company runs by the premise that their customers are more brilliant than patient. If you've been a diehard clear or rubberstamper, they can even help you with the transition to digital. And don't worry about asking a silly question, because as a retired public high school teacher, Pam has already seen it all. Check out the ever-increasing tutorial links, which you can find on the homepage. Hailing from the Hawaiian Islands, the Aloha Spirit is alive and well at AmberInk.com.

We were really kindly given the opportunity to play with some iPapers and Digi images, look at this adorable carrot paper, isn't it the sweetest!!  (this is what I used behind my centre panel) and then I used my gorgeous little digi bunnies too!  There are so many gorgeous images to choose from, you can even get some iPaper that has the same images coloured in on patterned paper, so cute!

Thank you Amber Ink, these were really fun to play around with!

Amber Ink are offering up a prize of a $15 Gift Certificate to use in the store!

So pop on over to check out what the rest of the DT made and then check our main blog for all of the prize information.   (sorry about the size of the links for the DT, it's either that size or enormous, despite playing the font size is misbehaving!!)

Etsy Inspired Challenge #130 - Artwork by Lori

Happy Saturday my dear blogging friends!

Today I have a card to share with you for our latest Etsy Inspired challenge. Our shop this week is Artwork by Lori Lori also has two other shops here and here.    Our sponsor is Charleston Scrapbook Company. (I'm hoping the link will work for Charleston, I seem to be having trouble getting it to work this end, but I've been having a lot of internet problems this past few days).

When I saw the inspiration over at Lori's shop I really had a hard time deciding what to make.  Her style and colours are SO my kind of thing!!!  I actually used her shop as inspiration for a card I had submitted for PC publication call, but it didn't get picked up unfortunately.  I still really like it though :o)

I used Stella and Rose papers, Nestie scallop border and rectangle, rectangle scallop dies, Sizzix 3d flower die, lace and finished it off with a stamped Happy Birthday sentiment from Make a Wish by Papertrey Ink which I inked with Tim Holtz Ranger Distress Ink - Tumbled Glass

Look at this YUMMINESS...

Ooh it sends my little mind into overtime lol.  LOVE it!

So don't forget to pop on over to check out what the rest of the DT made and then check our main blog for all of the prize information.
