Minneapolis Take Two

Back in March, we attempted a trip to Minneapolis. It didn't go so well (see here). So, when Erin invited us up to see her new apartment, and our friends had newborn twins, we thought we'd try it again. This time there was no vomiting involved. This time, we played at the Mall of America, enjoyed Erin's Christmas tree (yes, it's already up = jealous!), and held babies. We even got a pit stop at Grandma and Grandpa J's on the way there.

So excited about the rides at Nickelodean Universe.

I easily convinced Erin to take them on most of the rides, since I didn't think the baby would enjoy the rides quite yet.

But look who outgrew her previous height level. She was too tall to need an adult to ride with her.  These things make me sad. For the record, she is now 43" tall.

At least Evan still needs us!

We then took our very first visit to the American Girl store. It's seriously 3 levels tall. You know the saying "they were like a kid in a candy store?" Well, this was Lauren's candy store, and maybe mine & Erin's too. Lauren started her Santa list right then and there.

Evan & Dad skipped out on the doll store. Evan was suffering a little bit from no nap and too much excitement. Many of the other mall guests got to see Evan's naughty side. I'll take naughty over vomiting though.

The next day, we made our way to the Nagengast's house to meet the newborn twins and watch the Iowa State game. I think football watching has changed some since college? I wonder if these two roommates ever pictured this? haha

And I got twice the practice on babies! It was harder than it looks. I got to feed Kurtis (right), but the only way I could tell it was him was by his Cyclone onesie. :) They are identical. I only wish we lived closer to all these people! The kids got to sleep on an air mattress at Erin's, and they haven't stopped talking about it. I'm wondering why we didn't just get an air mattress instead of bunk beds! Speaking of which...

This is how I found the kids the other day. Both of them sound asleep in Lauren's top bunk. Lauren told me he climbed up there sometime during the middle of the night. While bedtime is still a challenge, this part is so adorable.

Early Thanksgiving

We traveled to the Ozarks a few weeks ago for an early Thanksgiving with the Raymer family. The kids were spoiled as usual, and a good time was had by all!

Fun time, poor quality photos. I guess I need to go back to my big camera, and forget the convenient phone pics!

The Spider Family's Halloween

We had SpiderMan, SpiderGirl, and SpiderDog in our house this year for Halloween. Lauren caught a glimpse of this threesome in a costume magazine a few months ago, and she was sold. Evan wasn't hard to convince, but Bailey required many dog treats to cooperate.

My phone pictures leave a lot to be desired, but we had a blast. The kids ran excitedly from house to house. Evan left every single house shouting, "Mom, Mom, look! I said trick-or-treat, Mom! I said thank-you! Mom, look!" And then he'd happily run to the next house. We went with lots of friends and our favorite cousin. It was a very happy Halloween.

Sunday, March 17th - At Sea

Sunday, March 17th was a sail day. We woke up to clear blue skies, and 77 degrees. It was gorgeous.  It was also St. Patrick's Day,...
