Marcus at 40 weeks

Vashti at 40 Weeks
At the Doctor's (1:00 pm):
I had a Doctor appointment on Wednesday and Marcus surprised me by getting off work early to go with me. I am glad he did because I would have been pretty stressed out if I was by myself. My blood pressure was high when they first checked (146/118) and we had even got there early and I had been sitting down in the lobby for 1/2 an hour first. They checked it again at the end of the appointment and it had gone up even more. No dialation whatsoever.
Dr K "So how do you feel about having your baby today?"
Me "Well if that is what you think - I'm not crazy about being induced."
Dr K "Maybe I should have phrased that differently, you don't have a choice your BP is too high"
Me "Oh! Well today it is then"
Run home, get the bags and last minute things tied up. Olivia was with Kaitlyn and ended up staying there the first night (THANK YOU SO MUCH!). I ate dinner at Kaitlyn's before heading in, just in case they weren't going to feed me at the hospital.
At the hospital (5:00 pm):
I am not crazy about being induced. I felt like I had a really successful labor/delivery (no pain meds) with Olivia and I like being able to have most of the contractions at my own home. They give me cervadil at 6:00 and am told it should take 12 hours for it to make me all "loosey goosey" (not a clinical term) and at 6:00 am if nothing was moving yet they would break my water and start pitocin.
Getting the cervadil was NOT FUN. I don't think it helped that the nurse administering it was a prison torturer in a past life.
1:00 am
Contractions start and they are pretty intense. We play some phase 10, but only get through the first three phases before I can't concentrate anymore.
3:00 am
I am dying.
The contractions are right on top of each other and are making me want to crawl out of my skin. They take out the cervadil and check me. I went from nothing to 6 cm in less than two hours.
I am tired and exhausted.
"GIVE ME THE EPIDURAL... NOW"
I knew with how tired I was already that I wouldn't have enough energy left to push. I am still thinking at this point that it is hours before I even get to the pushing stage. They get started with the IV of saline and give me some phentanol to help with the pain. Dr K gets there and calls for the anesthesiologist and I have a couple of more contractions. Then I feel I start feeling pressure like I need to push. I inform everyone of this and then I get on the bed and my water breaks.
Dr K "Oh wow, you are at a 10 and this baby is coming now."
Mad dash ensues as no one is prepared for this.
"Wait a second, wait a second!" as Dr and nurses rush around.
WAIT?!? Are they kidding me?
I literally rip the glasses off my face and chuck them to side bed and 5 min later Bianca enters the world! Poor anesthesiologist got out of bed for nothing!
We almost named Olivia "Bianca" and so it was our first choice for the new addition. It totally fits her and her little personality. Irene is after my Mom, Irene being her middle name.
Olivia spent the first day/night playing at Kaitlyn's house (she totally rocks and is super mom with already having her OWN two kids to worry about). Then she has been staying with my parents and having the time of her life. She just came back tonight and it was so nice to have the down time and also know that while she was over there she was thriving. It is nice to have all of us under one roof again. I am loving how more laid back I feel and it is much easier the second time around!
