Random Thoughts

I always have a hard time giving blood. The actual giving blood is fine, it's the after party my body doesn't like. Feeling like I needed to jump out of my comfort zone I signed up to donate blood tonight. I did so at the latest sign up possible, hoping to make the recovery much more simple. (In other words I could just go to bed after).

I forgot how lengthy the check-in process is. After I was almost check it, it turns out I can donate blood. Only select people with certain auto-immune diseases are eligible. For people with Hashimoto's you have to have been on thyroid for one year. Since I went off it earlier this year, I'm out.

The good news is I went to the doctor last week and all my numbers look good. So I'm going to keep on this dosage and thyroid for now. I'm still exhausted, but that's for another post.

School is back in session. Batgirl loves it. She loves her teacher. She loves being able to walk to school. She adores walking to her Grandma's house after. It's such a relief to have her be so happy about the new school. She's still loves reading. She loves a new art class she's taking. She loves sewing and made a darling heart pillow for her Grandma for her birthday. I'll have to post a picture of it soon.

Flash is hilarious. He makes me laugh hard every day. He's such a smarty. He often asks how your day went or class went. Then he waits patiently for you to answer him. He is bugged that his school hasn't started yet. He starts next week. He's going to school with one of our dear friends. He calls him primo (cousin).  He loves his new house and telling everyone that he moved. He then proceeds to tell them the city we live in. He keeps asking why we moved. He misses the old house.

Last week we went to back to school night. We introduced ourselves to a few people by shaking hands and telling them our names. He wanted to be involved. He stuck out his hand and gave them his first and last name.

Papi is busy with work as usual. He's excited to be back online after being off line (or without internet) at home for a week and a half. It wasn't odd to find us in my parents driveway using their wifi for quick things.

Lastly, I'm not very good at updating the blog. I'm trying to do better. If you want to see more frequent updates visit me on Instagram. My user is @princesasylvia. We love the new house. We also spent a few days at a cabin with my family. The cousins had a blast!

Tried a few recipes recently that turned out great. They are not clean eating, but are completely from scratch.

Awake

I've been making an extra effort to wake up at 7 am. For those that know me, know what a struggle that is for me. If I don't get 10 hours of sleep, I feel like I have the flu. Today my body woke up at 6 am and wasn't letting me go back to bed.

My sewing teacher from my youth, has some adult classes. I've been lucky enough to take advantage of her skills. Here are a few clothing hacks I've been working on. The one on the left used to be a maternity jumper.

I give more blood today. I go back to my new Doctor in another ten days. I'm excited. He's an endocrinologist. He isn't convinced my previous doctor got the right diagnosis. I'm praying I finally get some answers.

I'm loving the warm weather. This winter was really hard for me. It's nice to get some sunshine and Vitamin D.

Exhaustion

It's been almost twenty years since I was first diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. It's been a long journey. I never imagined I'd still be suffering twenty years later. It started when I was a Senior in high school. I came home early the first day of school. My mother took me to the doctor and I had some lab work done. I was positive for the Epstein-Bar virus. I missed all but one term of my Senior year. (I still feel a bit sad about missing the majority of my Senior year. I never went to prom. Depressing, I know).

I'm such an internal struggle right now. I want to document our family life, but frankly I'm exhausted. It's hard for me to get out of bed each morning. I could literally sleep all day everyday. It's not a normal I'm tired. It's an exhaustion. Kind of like you ran your heart out for a few miles in a cross country race. I start everyday on empty and run out of gas quickly. Add a headache to the mix. Now pretend like you have the flu with body aches. This pretty much sums up my day every day. (In addition to various other symptoms which are classified as TMI).

I keep thinking tomorrow will be better. I'll catch up tomorrow. I forever have a lot of catching up to do. Depression creeps in, because frankly how could it not when you feel crummy for twenty years. I start to second guess my decision to be a mother/wife. My kids/husband deserve someone who is healthy. Someone who can do so much more than I can. I feel so inadequate. I often compare myself to everyone else and wonder what my problem is.

Last year I started on a journey. I met with a nutrionist and a trainer to see what I could do to better my health. I stared eating healthier and tried exercising more.(Note when you are exhausted  exerscising can often make it worse and not better). I decided to see a Naturopathic Doctor. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis last May. I started taking a natural thyroid and felt immensely better. Then I crashed a month or two later. (I guess my body doesn't like to do things the easy way). Hashimoto's is an autoimmune disease. My body is attacking itself, specifically my thyroid. Taking a thyroid replacement is the first step. It hasn't done much for me. My Naturopathic has left me hanging. Saying there's not much more that she can do but increase my meds . I've since found a few other various health professionals that say they can help. Most of which are not covered by my insurance. I love our health care system.

This month will be a new step of my journey. I'm currently shopping around for doctor that can help me. For too many years I've been told I'm fine. I am not fine. I am not special. I am tired. Not normal tired. Exhausted. And I'm done being exhausted.

Ironically as I think my children deserve a better mother, they are my light right now. I can't tell you how much joy they bring to me. Flash makes me laugh every single day. He's hilarious. Batgirl is brillant. It's hard to keep her challenged. I am blessed, far more than I deserve. In the misery of my health I do find much joy. Much reason for me to keep searching for some relief.
