Maverick Mania

Those of you who know my husband, know that he is a HUGE Dallas Mavericks fan. Lucky for him, so is his Dad and his Dad gets season tickets every year for the American Airlines center. Brandon gets to go to the games with his Dad whenever he comes into town - which he thoroughly enjoys and looks forward to.
Since Pappa Poyfair only lives in Texas part of the year, Brandon also gets tickets frequently when his Dad can't make it to the games. I used to go to all the games with Brandon, but since having Kyla - it is harder for us to both get to go. On St. Patrick's Day, Brandon had tickets to the game against the Detroit Pistons and was planning on asking someone to go with him because I decided at the last minute that it was too much of a hassle to find someone to watch Kyla so that I could go with him. In the middle of the day he called to tell me that our good friends, Kaytie and Ryan Brown, had offered to watch Kyla so that we could enjoy going on a date. They said we needed to take advantage of dates before we had Baby #2. I was so excited to be able to get out on a date with Brandon, even though it was just a baskteball game. There is something wonderful about being able to spend time together without running after an independent toddler. We had a great time and Brandon even let me be "twinners" with him - we wore our matching GREEN Mavericks shirts and got to hold hands all night long! Thanks Ryan and Kaytie for a special night!

What We've Been Up To

Kyla is 15 and a half months old, but she thinks she is much older. This is what she has been up to.

Opening doors:Leading to incidents with things that are supposed to be "out of reach":LOVING her doll stroller - she zooms all over with it upstairs:
Learning to eat with a spoon, which really means holding the spoon in one hand and eating with the other hand. When she tries to use the spoon, she ends up sending food flying all over the kitchen:
Relaxing with Dad when he FINALLY gets home from work:Pointing at everything and anything - just to keep my attention centered on her:
Climbing on EVERYTHING:She then proceeds to JUMP off EVERYTHING including couches, bookshelves, window sills, and even head first out of our Home Depot shopping cart this past week - landing directly on her head on the cement floor before I could maneuver my pregnant belly around to catch her...
She has started to blink repeatedly when I pull out the camera. Since I almost always use the flash - she thinks she needs to close her eyes - making it even harder to get pictures head on:
She can now reach things by doing so many creative tricks that I have almost everything pushed to the very center of dressers, tables, counters, nightstands, etc. Just to TRY and keep them out of her reach:Drawing on the walls if she can secretly get a hold of a pen or highlighter and get out from under my vision:
Pulling as many wipes out as she possibly can if Mom or Dad forget to put the wipes out of reach:She got her third and fourth teeth - one more on top and her first one on bottom - this past week. I'd like to think that is why she has been so much work, but I think it is just because she is Brandon's daughter. I was talking to my mom on the phone the other day and trying to keep Kyla from jumping off couches to reach the end tables, keep her from rifling through the garbage can in the pantry, and pulling her down from our COUNTER-HEIGHT table that she has mastered recently and my mom said, "Sharee, I am exhausted just listening to you try and keep up with that girl!" Well said Mom!But when she is playing with my face and then puts her little cheek up to my lips so that I will give her a kiss or she runs full speed into my arms as soon as I sit on the ground to spend some time with her - it makes EVERY SINGLE SECOND of the craziness worth it a million times over.

My First 5K!

On Saturday, Brandon and I ran our first 5K. It was FREEZING! The week before, I was thinking it would be so nice to run while it was "cool" - well, it was far BEYOND "cool." We thought we were going to freeze right where we stood. The temperature was in the low 30's and the big buildings in down-town Fort Worth acted as perfect tunnels for the freezing wind.I have always wanted to run a 5K and I was not disappointed. It was an awesome experience! Brandon and I decided we wanted to run every year and eventually work our way up to the half marathon. And no, I have NO desire to run a FULL marathon. However, I really just look forward to running when I am NOT 5 months pregnant. This picture shows me and my pregnant self after the run.I have never had the courage to actually sign up to run, so I have to thank my good friend, Susan Thurman, for setting everything up and motivating me to do it. The pictures below show Susan and I before the run and just starting the run. There was a whole group of us from our ward at church that formed a team to run. It was so nice to have friends and support there. Our team consisted of two pregnant women, a beginner runner, a women who just had a baby, and two supportive husbands. As you can probably guess, we didn't win any medals. But we DID have fun!
Even though I ran weekly to prepare for the race and Brandon ran ONCE, he beat me by over 10 minutes - go figure. My favorite part of the whole race was seeing him cheering for me at the end with Carrie. Then Brandon ran the last 100 yards next to me.
You know you are SLOW when you RUN the ENTIRE race and are still passing people that are WALKING during the LAST HALF MILE of the race. Granted, I did start the race a little bit late, but I was TOTALLY slow. I am SO playing the PREGNANCY card here. This is my cute husband running the race. I am so happy he decided to do it with me!

It's a BOY!

Since I am hitting my five month mark - I thought it might be time to announce that we will be having Kash Brandon Poyfair join our family in early July. If I had a scanner, I would attach some pictures of him, since I don't, you will just have to see my big belly instead - sorry! Here I am at a 19 and a half weeks.
We found out in the middle of January that we would be having a boy. Brandon is SO excited and I am excited and scared at the same time. I can DO girl! I don't know about a boy. But I can't wait to figure it out!

I wasn't ever really going to do a post about this, but then I realized I should probably say SOMETHING since I will be posting pictures now that completely show my growing belly. Maybe I'm vain, but I don't want ya'all thinking I am just gaining lots of weight! I am still going to the gym 4-5 mornings a week, but I am getting bigger anyway. The joys of pregnancy... Here I am at nine months with Kyla. Just looking at my old pregnancy pictures makes me wonder why I am doing this all over again. I have four words for you: Big As A Boat.
The other reason I decided to post was because my mom sent this DARLING package last week and it made me so happy that I had to share it on my blog. Being so far away from my family is bearable when I have parents and siblings who do special things to let me know they love us and are thinking about us. This package was so special since it kind of made the fact that I will be having a boy in a few months a little bit more real. It just seems too crazy to be real.My mom and little sister, Sherlynn, also sent this darling outfit for Kyla which I couldn't resist posting about. How good is their fashion sense? I was MAJORLY impressed!
