Sean Follows Andrew

One of our favorite forms of entertainment is watching Sean follow Andrew around the kitchen.

Basketball season has started,

and I am not talking about the NBA. Tom plays in our church basketball league and has for the last 17 years. He loves the game, and looks forward to it every season. It is a big commitment and requires sacrifices from our whole family. All for the love of the game.

Dinners have to be small, light meals on game days since you can't play with a full stomach. Our sleep patterns change since Tom usually plays until late and needs time to wind down after. Of course there is also a change in activity at our house. We can't have Tom hurt a knee or something and be out for the season. Any heavy lifting or strenuous work will have to wait until after the championship game. When we moved into our house in 2007, he hurt his knee while moving and was worried all summer and fall about missing the season. We all suffered the consequences of having a sad man around the house, and many team mates calling looking for him.

He is wanted man around the gym during church ball, sinking the 3 pointers as well as any good high school player. He loves the game and with the help of Melatonin to wind him down, Advil for the pain, and Glucosamine for the joints, Tom will be playing basketball until they kick him out of the gym.

It is a big sacrifice for all, and very rewarding for Tom. Although, I am still waiting for that BIG NBA like paycheck to come in the mail for all the hard work.

As you can see in the picture to the right, Andrew has started down the same road. He is playing on Saturdays and can be seen here (number 13).

Kelsey... For You!

Ken (Tom's nephew) is here, safe and having a good time. We haven't seen too much of him since he is the busy engineering type, but what we have seen, we've enjoyed. Tomorrow is his big presentation at his engineering conference, something about a plunge (no, not the local swimming pool, something engineering like that I won't begin to understand). Andrew is helping him prepare by getting in a few games on the Wii.

Golden Delicious for All...Guinea Pigs Included

We love Golden Delicious Apples in our house. In fact, if I buy any other, everyone cries out loud. We love them so much that I buy them year round despite the price. Often I spend up to $20.00 per week on apples since we all eat at least one a day, if not two.

In the mornings, I cut up an apple for the kids to take to school. From what I can tell, they eat them. The other day I was cleaning out Andrew's back pack and found about 3 bags of old brown apple slices in his backpack. When he saw I was about to throw them away he hollered for me to stop. I looked at him and said, "These are disgusting and why are you wasting the yummy Golden Delicious Apples?" His reply, "I am not wasting them, those are for the Guinea Pigs." Apparently I have been supplying his classroom Guinea Pigs with fresh Golden Delicious apples.

From now on, it's Granny Smith for Andrew.

Sean is on a Roll...

I laid Sean down in the living room and left the room for a few minutes.
When I came back, he was like this.
Unless the roll over fairies came in a rolled him over, I have to assume he did this on his own. From the look of his proud face he knows he just did something GREAT. I am just a little sad I missed it.

A Proud Big Brother

This last week Andrew was "Star of the Week" in his class. This means he gets to do special jobs all week, and be the front of the line. On Friday he was allowed to bring in something special to him and all he wanted to share was his little brother Sean. He really wanted to bring in Sean and the cat Max, but I couldn't see myself hauling both to the class.
When he had to choose, Sean won.
