Sleeps

Mum had the bad sleeps last night.  She lay there willing herself to snooze off but it didn't really happen.  She tossed and turned for hours, finally drifting off around 4am, getting only a couple of hours before the alarm went off.

So tonight she has kept herself busy, resisted napping, had a carb fulled dinner of bacon on toast, used left over bacon to make bacon and tomato toasties for her lunch tomorrow, watched some light comedy and avoided the news, watched her face and used some nice moisturizer,  got her book ready, heated up the bed (it's been cold here tonight) and talked to me about not taking an hour for me to get settled.  Fingers crossed she can get a good 6 hours of sleep.

Sleeps

Mum went to work early this morning, and was home just before 5am.  She managed a couple of hours sleep, and then got up to get some washing out before she had to head into work.  She ate her lunch with a couple of colleagues, and there was a 2 minute silence to remember the victims from last weeks terrorist attack.  It has been a hard week and I think that everyone is still in shock.

Yesterday there were changes made by the government.  Owning military style semi automatic weapons is now illegal.  New Zealanders may still own guns - there are just rules around applying for a gun licence.  We all mostly believe that gun ownership is a privilege her, not a right.  This is not a forum here for any arguments about gun ownership.  We fully support the changes as I am sure 99% of Kiwis do.  It is a shame that it has taken such a tragedy to make such changes happen, but we are glad that moves have been made swiftly to protect the public.

It has been been hard to know what to do in response to what has happened.  It has changed all of us.  Our sense of security,  our feeling of safety in our corner of the world has been forever altered.  For someone to bring that kind of hatred to our shores,  is true evil.  Something we have never had to face before.  It is not who we are.

Anyways I have to send mum to bed - she has to work early tomorrow morning and needs to join me and get some sleep.

Sleeps

Last night I slept on my bag for a while, but I spend most of the night asleep in my heated cat bed.  Lately I have been joining mum for a snuggle in the morning which makes her want to stay home, but alas she had to go and earn some dollars.

Mum was lucky and got to have Wednesday off work and got to enjoy the lovely sunshine.  It was sunny and almost 20 day C .  Washing was done and mum had a big walk, and a big nap.  Life is good.

Sleeps

Mum is still struggling to get enough sleep this week.  She is trying to have the lights out by 10pm and getting up just before 6am she should hopefully get some good hours snoozing.  I sympathize as if I don't get my 22 hours a day I'm just a mess!!

How well do you sleep?

Sleeps

Mum feels better after a good 7 hours sleep last night and I feel good after my 20 hours.

She gets organized at night time.  underwear and uniforms are laid out for the morning.  Lunch is made and in the fridge and her bag is all packed.

my water and food bowls are checked to make sure that they are full.  Aren't we lucky?

Sleeps

Mums first night of night shift was fine.  She even got to read a few chapters of her book and watch a couple of Seinfeld episodes on her phone.  When she got home, she had some food and drink before heading to bed.  I was really really good and let her sleep for a couple of hours before asking for a cuddle.

So now she is up and has some lamb and potatoes roasting for dinner.  She doesn't eat much while at work so a nice dinner is in order.

Sleeps

So  mums on call weekend is over, but she still has another day later in the week.  She finished around 6.30am this morning, so managed to get some sleep in the morning, and had the rest of the day off, but it is a bit of a zombie day as she does everything super slow.  Luckily the afternoon was sunny and warm, so mum went for a walk to the library, and a supermarket sweep (she has been 5 out of the last 7 days).

There are a couple of sunflowers popping their sunny heads out in our garden, a nice bit of summer for our friends who are still chilly and cold.  She is eating fresh courgettes/zucchini and tomatoes.  Me - well I am on the feast.

So us girls are going to tuck up early and mum is going to read before turning out the lights before 10pm  which is early for her.  I have spent the past week back on her bed as it is getting cooler at nights, although we are having visitors later in the week, so that may all change.

Hope your week is starting well.

Sleeps

We have had a lazy old day here with lots of sleeps in which was nice.  Mum then watched a bit of tele, read her book and the interwebs.  I snoozed inside and outside.  Mum said she got up to the bathroom in the middle of the night (thank you almost menopausal bladder) and found me asleep on the bathmat in the bathroom.  A new little snoozy spot.

Hope you got lots of sleeps today.

Ohh and hello to February!!!

Sleeps

This is where I like to go to get my sleeps - on mums side of the bed.  Especially on our cold days and nights.  Although at night, she makes me shuffle down to the end of the bed, and sleep on the big blankie.

Sleeps

I like my sleeps - I do. Often if mum leaves me in the morning to go to work, I am still in the same place when she gets home.
We are having quiet times at home. Today at work and around the country there was two minutes of silence for the earthquake victims. Funerals have began for some of the poor people who have died, including one yesterday for the youngest, a five month old baby. We are thinking of all of those killed and injured, and their friends and families. The police are now saying that they expect the final toll to be aprox 240 people.
