This photo was taken in 1978 (my best guess). I'm the little red-headed girl sitting on the floor. My mom is in the coral dress holding my sister, Jennifer. My dad is looking so young and stylin' in his black suit. The rest are my maternal aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. So fab' in 70s garb!
Why the reminiscing? I've been reflecting on the strong women who came before me. My mom was extremely sick during all of her pregnancies, yet dinner was always on the table, the house was clean at the end of the day, and she never complained. My grandmother . . . same thing. She had seven children, worked full-time, and was probably the first to offer dinner or a helping hand to someone in need (never needing anything in return). What happened to genetics? Why am I so useless? In fact, I'm constantly thinking about how my ancestors in heaven must be shaking their fists in disbelief, saying, "She has it so easy! Why is she utterly incapable?" :)
Anyway, I'm not posting this in hopes of empathy or sympathy (based on previous pregnancies I knew what I was getting into). Besides, I know I'm hugely blessed. I'm just perplexed at my inability to cope well. So here's to me "bucking up" and getting over myself. Wish me luck! :)
