Cruise ship and other photos

Our dining table with Lonnie/Rixa, DeAnn/Brent.

Phil and Carla at the small table.

The dining room was 3 stories high.

Grand chandelier in the dining room.

All of us...DeAnn/Brent, Loretta/Doug, Carla/Phil, Rixa/Lonnie, and Tania/Mark. I have a great family to do things with. But I don't see much of a family resemblance in the 5 sisters.

Phil and Carla enjoying a beautiful day at sea.

Looking down on the ship's mall.

Towel art.

Looking in on the bridge.

Head chef telling us how we get to eat great food every meal.

Our galley tours.

Some of us had fun climbing the rock wall.

Tania just beats Mark. (It was Mark's 2nd time up)

Our ship, Mariner of the Seas.

On our way back to Rome.

When we finally got to the port, Civitavecchia, it was pouring. We had to wait awhile and then run through the rain to our bus for the ride to the airport. We had a great time and have great memories.

The Island of Crete

The last island we visited was Crete. We rented 2 cars at the port of Souda. From there we drove to the Venetian Port city of Chania. It had this great lighthouse.

It was a windy, cloudy and rather cold day there.

You could still see some of the bombed out areas from World War II. They took a beating at the end of the war.

The cafes were just opening up for the day.

This row of buildings fascinated me with all its balconies.

Balcony with flags.

Blue door.

And one that has seen better days.

We are at the Venetian fort looking east to the lighthouse

Tania and Mark enjoying the view.

We found a beach...but sadly the day was too cold for sun-bathing.

We girls at least tested the waters.

Our men just took our pictures.

Looking west down the coast.

We didn't have much time there so we decided to take a drive inland. We came to a small village called Fournes. It had this picturesque church there.

Door to the church.

Across the street was this beautiful balcony. I was impressed with how clean everything was here.

We continued up the mountain through groves of olive, citrus and grape vineyards.

And happened upon the Botanical Park of Crete way up the mountain.

We hurried back to the cruise ship just missing getting caught in the protests that were starting at 1 pm. So we said good-bye to the beautiful island of Crete.

The islands of Greece are quite high and mountainous.
