Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day.
I Love Holidays, especially when Brent gets a day-off from work. It’s like a treat for everyone. Brent gets to actually enjoy time with his family, Mommy gets some help with Kaedyn and the house, and Kaedyn gets to spend quality time with her Daddy and Mommy together. We all slept in a little this morning till about 9:00am. Never thought that would happen again. Then we went to the University Heights, OH Memorial Day Parade. The day started out stormy and rainy, but by the time the parade started at around 11:00, the weather was beautiful and sunny. At the parade they throw all types of candy out to everyone, which is always fun, and of course this year with a 4 Month old (not like she can even eat candy nor does she care), the participants in the parade would take one look at Kaedyn and so aaawwww, “Look at that Baby, and hand or throw all sorts of candy our direction, Score for Brent and I. I guess that’s just another one of the perks of having a precious little one. I can honestly say that Kaedyn enjoyed the parade The bands, the dancers, the little old men driving around in tiny cars, the Big Truck that blows bubbles all sorts of silly things here in OH.

Kaedyn @ 4 Months

4 Months On May 25th Kaedyn Brook turned 4 months old Yeah we have finally managed to make size 2 diapers tight enough so they stay on her tiny little bum. She still is wearing her newborn onesies, (I think her torso is just a little petite). Her eyes are still such a Beautiful Blue color, and she is getting a little more hair, but not much though. This past month she has really started to recognize her feet and little toes, she is fascinated by them. She is so flexible, she even likes to suck on her toes too. “Silly Girl”. She is doing really well at bedtime too, almost every night we are able to snuggle and read a book with her and then we just lay her in her crib and she holds her yellow silky blankie and sucks on her “Soothie” and is able to go to sleep on her own. She usually sleeps anywhere from 10 to 11 hours at night. One of her favorite songs is “I’m a Little Teapot”. The other evening we were all just hanging out on our bed, and I decided to sing her this song and try to get her to do the motions, which turned into more of just a wiggle dance. Until now Kaedyn has done some good laughs and giggles, but when I sang her this song, it was so precious. She just kept laughing and laughing over and over. Babies are so precious, this is a moment that I will never forget.

***Oh the dreaded shots, Kaedyn always arrives so excited and happy to her Doctors appointments, everything always goes so smoothly. Then at the very end it comes time for the shots, our Doctor does such a good job and giving them so quickly and getting it over with. First came the oral dose, which was fine and then Just like at her 2 month visit she did so well during the first shot, then when it was over she looked up at me all big eyes and concerned, and then Boom, Boom, Boom, shots 2, 3, and 4. As soon as the second shot came she got so sad and out came that bottom lip, and those sad tear filled eyes. She gave me a sad look, and then it was over. I gave her "Soothie" the greatest pacifier ever, then gave her some loves and within about a minute, our happy little Kaedyn was back. So here are the most recent stats on Kaedyns growth. She now measure about 23 1/2 inches long. Weighs 13lbs 5 oz. Which puts her in the 40th percentile for weight and 25th for height.. We Love our Healthy Little Girl.

Here is Kaedyn all dressed up for church. The little sweater and booties she is wearing were my when I was a little girl. They were made by Kaedyns Great Great Aunt. I love that my Mom saved some of my super cute outfits and that mine and Kaedyns birth months are so close together so that she is able to wear some really cute "Vintage" outfits.

Party Like a Rockstar

I think when Kaedyn grows up she is going to be a total “Rock Star” Every night before bedtime, Brent puts Kaedyn in her swing and gives her a few rattles to play with. And then as soon as Daddy picks up his guitar Kaedyn always lets out the most exciting squeal. Brent started playing the guitar for Kaedyn when she was only a few days old, and during her fussy and gassy times the music really seemed to help calm her down. So this has become a fun nightly routine in the Powell Household. Kaedyn already has a few favorite songs that she always gets really excited about when Brent starts playing them. Daddy and Kaedyn really enjoy this special time together, Kaedyn loves to sing right along and bang her rattles. Brent especially loves this special time with Kaedyn, because he says that Kaedyn is the perfect audience she always gives him tons of smiles and giggles and never judges him if he doesn't play or sing perfectly.. Ooopps I guess I need to do better at that.

Happy Mothers Day

Yeah!!!! No more “Future Mothers Day” celebrations in this household. This year was my first official “Mothers Day”. Even though last year I was actually 4weeks 2days Prego, just didn't know it for like 2 days. But I actually felt something going on just didn't want to say anything or take the "Test". This has been a long time coming. What a special day we had together as a family, Kaedyn slept through the night and slept in until we had to wake her up for church. Brent made me breakfast in bed, and then we made a yummy Italian Feast for dinner. Brent gave me a beautiful necklace and Kaedyn gave me a really pretty bracelet. The way they gave me these gifts was so cute. In the middle of the day Brent brought Kaedyn over to me and she had this really cute bracelet dangling around her ankle. And then at bedtime he brought her to me with the necklace around her little neck. “Too cute”. What a fun and special day this was. I know Kaedyn knew it was Mama's special day too, because at bedtime she just stayed awake for an extra couple minutes to give me the special loves and snuggles that I needed. I know that was her special way of letting me know that she loves me and that she was always meant to be a part of our family. We just had to wait a lot longer than most families to have this precious child enter our home. Motherhood is a beautiful experience, and I am so grateful that I have finally been given the opportunity to experience it. My heart goes out to those women who are still on their pathway of trying to start a family and experience the blessings and joy and (struggles) of motherhood. I will always have a special place within my heart for these woman, for I know exactly how they feel. One day your miracle will finally arrive.

Cutest Mothers Day Gift Ever

Bracelet from Kaedyn

Necklace from Brentie
Brent said kaedyn had so much fun going shopping to pick out Mothers Day gifts. They went to Macys and when they got to the Jewelry section she got really excited and since she was in the Bjorn she was really able to look around and she put her hands on the glass countertops and just stared at all the pretty shiny things. I'm glad we have a girly girl in our future.

Cool Girl

Kaedyn loves her glasses, she now has about 4 different pairs, we keep buying them hoping that one pair will actually stay on her sweet little face. These are by far the coolest ones, I think Kaedyn knows how super cool she looks too. They are a little big. Kind of like a "Fly"and the strap just about completly wraps around her entire head. But hey "Fashion over Function" right?

Happy Cinco de Mayo

As many of you know in The Powell Household every Holiday is worth celebrating, so "Happy Cinco de Mayo". We were hoping to have a big Fiesta at our home with friends, but of course Brent was on call this week, so it's too hard to really plan anything during these times because you are always afraid you will here the "Beep..... Beep...Beep..... at anytime. So we got take-out from a yummy mexican restraunt called Qudoba.. Soooo Yummy.
