No Words To Describe It

I was debating on putting this experience on my blog, because it was such a special and spiritual experience for me, but I feel like it is selfish to keep it to myself, so I decided to go ahead and share this with everyone. It's hard to put into words but here goes!
A few months ago I was called into my Bishop's office. They didn't tell me why so I assumed it was for a calling. I already had three callings at the time and was kind of worried about getting another one. I was relieved when I saw the high council representative for our ward there in the bishops office. I sat down and they said they had an important question to ask me and that they had prayed about who to ask and my name was one they felt impressed to talk to. They asked me if I would like to be one of 5 women from our ward to sing in the choir for the General Relief Society Meeting at the end of September. I said Yes of course, I have always loved to sing and so I was so excited. The practices started a few weeks later. The five us car-pooled together to the 1st practice. It was so cool to see all these women filing into the Stake Center, we checked in and got our parts , all 5 of us were given the 2nd Soprano part. We went in the Chapel and found some seats together in the back. We started singing hymns together to warm up while everyone was getting there. It sounded AMAZING to hear 365 women sing together!! After we were all warmed up. They had a little devotional . A woman that was on the General Relief Society Board spoke to us, I wish I remembered her name. The choir consisted of women 6 stakes in Eagle Mountain and Saratoga Springs. I think one of the Stake Presidents spoke to us that night also. Then they introduced the lady who would be directing our choir. Her name is Emily Wadley, she is from Bountiful (that's quite the drive for her to come here every week) Anyways, she had us open our music. We sang through all 4 songs, "The Morning Breaks" and "Sweet is the Work" would be sung by the choir and the Relief Society Meeting and "Hark all Ye Nations" and "Now Let Us Rejoice" would be sung by the choir and congregation. Sister Wadley was the most amazing director I've ever worked with. She is always happy and smiling, had the best sense of humor, she made me laugh a ton!! She made learning these arrangements so much fun!! She was also very spiritual, she's one of those people that is just full of light, and you love just being in the same room as her!
Now this is the part that is hard for me to write about, but the past few months previous to being asked to sing in this choir. I had been really struggling spiritually. I felt so disconnected from the spirit or God. I would try to pray and just feel like I was talking to myself. I would try to read the scriptures and I just couldn't keep my mind focused on what I was reading and wasn't getting anything out of it. I think part of it was that I was feeling overwhelmed by everything, being a wife, mother, friend, accountant, student, sending my daughter off to college. None of which was I doing very well, so I would feel guilty and beat myself up about everything.
I didn't know what to do. I needed to feel the spirit again and be guided by it, but I didn't know how to get it back. I thought that God was probably to busy helping mothers who are homeless and who kids might starve or freeze to death during the night, I mean that seems more important than me and my dumb insecurities and lack of faith right? Boy was I WRONG!!
While I was singing with the choir that first night, I felt the spirit so strongly that I started to cry!! I knew God was not too busy for me! He knew what I needed!! and he gave it to me!! When I got home I tried to tell Tad about it, but there were no words to really describe it, you just had to be there. I could hardly sleep that night!
I looked forward to our weekly Sunday practices every week. They just got more amazing each time, and even though I thought we sounded great at the first practice, we got better and better each week. I felt so full of gratitude to be there!! So blessed and loved too! I would leave so uplifted and knew I could get through that next week.
As the conference date approached, we got to have a dress rehearsal at the conference center, it was so amazing to sit in those choir seats. We got to have a little devotional there, and Sister Barbara Thompson from the General Relief Society Presidency spoke to us and so did our Stake President. It was such a neat experience.
On the day of the conference, we all met at the Stake Center so we could be bused to the the Conference Center. They took a picture of all of us in our white shirts and black skirts, out on front lawn. They had to stand across the street to get us all in the picture, they literally stopped traffic too. Then we all loaded the buses. When we got about 5 blocks from the Conference Center we were stopped at a red light. The bus in front of us went when the light turned green, but our bus wouldn't start , the driver kept turning the ignition and pumping the gas pedal, but it didn't work, we were stuck!! It was hot on the bus with no AC, so we all decided to get off the bus and wait on the sidewalk in the shade, till they could send one of the buses back to get us. We waited there for a few minutes, and then decided we mind as well start walking. As we were walking this van pulled up to us with two Tongan guys it, they asked us if we were in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir! We said no, but we were as close as we were ever going to get!! The bus rescued us and we made it to the Conference Center. We got to practice in the conference center again, I love the sound of that organ, there's nothing else like it!! They surprised with a visit from Sister Beck the General Relief Society President and both her counselors, they told us how much they loved an appreciated us for the sacrifice us and our families had made so we could participate in this choir. I didn't feel like it was a sacrifice at all, I loved every minute of it!! After our last rehearsal, they fed us a yummy lunch. Then it was time!! We went back into the conference center, and we could see the women starting to fill the seats. We were all so nervous and excited as we saw the little clock on screen counting down. Sister Beck got up and welcomed everyone! Then it was our turn to sing "The Morning Breaks" it sounded amazing, I could hardly believe I was singing in front of the 33,000 or so women there, not to mention the millions watching from somewhere else. It was indescribable!! After that first song I sat down and felt so grateful again to be there. The whole conference was amazing! I especially loved President Uchdorf's talk. I felt like he was speaking right to me individually! It was exactly what I need to hear! After we sang the last song, I couldn't help but cry, I was sniffling all through the prayer. I didn't want it to be over. We all sat there an watched as President Monson and his counselors left, that was as close as I've ever been to the prophet! Then we sat down till they told us we could leave. Some of us touched the organ pipes as we walked out and took one last look at our choir seats, knowing we probably won't get another chance to sit there again. I am really sad that it is over, but I will always remember it. I even got to be on TV for a few seconds, that was cool! I want everyone to know that God does love you and he knows what you need. All you have to do is have faith in him and trust him and he will direct your path!!

Here are few pictures someone took of us in the choir seats. I also put the videos of both our songs and my favorite talk by President Uchdorf.

My Girl

I know I've been a HORRIBLE blogger lately. I'm so mad at myself . We did a lot of fun things the past few months, but now I can't remember them all. I will try to do better.

Lately I've been thinking alot about Dayna . She recently moved out to attend Snow College in Ephraim. I miss her SOOOO much!

I remember how excited Tad and I were when we found out I was pregnant with her. Then when she was born with all that hair and so adorable. Then we brought her home and I thought, what do I do now? I have no idea how to take care of a baby and how to raise her. I just hoped it would all turn out ok.

She was so much fun to buy cute frilly little dresses for and when she was two she had cute little ringlets in her hair. By the time she was four her hair was way past her shoulders and so pretty. When she was 8 she begged and begged to get her hair cut short. I finally let her. I cried. :(

I guess I'm really having a hard time with how fast the time I had with Dayna flew by! I mean I know I will still get to spend time with her but it won't ever be the same. My boys are growing up fast too and it is really freaking me out. I wish life would slow down a little so I could enjoy things more. I feel like I just go through the motions day by day and don't really "feel" things like I should. I'm trying to work on that but, life is so crazy all the time!

Anyways, I am really proud of Dayna and what a beautiful woman she's become. She is doing great in college so far. One of her room-mates is taking the missionary discussions and Dayna has sat in a few times. Her and her room-mate go to church together also. She is such a good example . She is in the Acappella choir and she is taking classes to get into the medical field. I really am happy for her. Just sad for me :( There are days when I just expect her to walk in the door and then I have to remind myself she doesn't live here any more. At least I can call and text or facebook her anytime. I don't know how our parents let us kids move out with no way of getting in contact with us unless they we were by a home phone. That would be really hard. So grateful for technology.

So I found all these pictures of Dayna growing up, so I thought it would be fun to put them on here. Unfortunately I was really bad at writing the dates on the pictures so I just tried to put them in order by the way she looks. She is so dang cute!! (I know i'm biased). Dayna if you read this just know I love you and I'm so proud of your. Sorry I'm such a baby about you leaving me :)

I'm so lucky to have such a beautiful daughter!!!

March Madness for sure!

March really was crazy. So many fun and exciting things happened. First of all I turned a year older. Bleh! But hey it was still fun. My mom came down and spent the day with me. She brought me an angel food cake, which I love and she copied some home movies to DVD and gave them to me for my Birthday. We watched a few of them together. It was fun to see what we looked like and how young my kids were. Time has gone by so fast. That afternoon Jason made me a cake too, it was really yummy. I got some cute black jeans and my favorite candy for my birthday. That night Tad took me out to dinner at the Olive Garden and then we went to see "A Tale of Two Cities." at the Hale Theatre. I love going there and I have loved every play I've seen there, they always do such a great job. I never want the plays to end. It was a great birthday! I just wish I didn't have to keep getting older.

The next big event was Dayna's Senior Prom. There was some drama, where a boy asked her to the prom and then tried to cancel on her a few days later, because he found out he would be out of town and also that he got back together with his old girlfriend. I was so mad about this because Dayna had told everyone she got asked, so the chances of someone else asking her were slim. I was so mad I got Dayna to give me the guys cell phone number and I sent him some nasty text messages. He only said he was sorry and that he would try to get one of his friends to ask her. I vented some this on Facebook one day. My friend suggested that we set Dayna up with, her single young brother in law. I suggested this to Dayna, and she said she didn't want to go with someone she had never met. So my friend I devised a plan for them to meet.Luckily there was a family birthday at her house, and her brother in law was going to be there. So I tricked Dayna into going over there with me. We totally embarrassed them, but they agreed to go to the prom together. (oh by the way, a few days before this, the other boy said he ended up not having to go out of town, and asked Dayna if she would forgive him and still go with, him. She wanted go go so bad, she agreed to it, I told her she was crazy) After she agreed to go with Rhett (the brother in law) she sent a text message to the other boy and told him her parents wouldn't let her go with him and canceled on him. (just a little payback). Anyways Dayna and Rhett, texted each other over the next few days. Luckily we were able to borrow a dress from a good friend of ours. Rhett actually took Dayna out to dinner and a movie the night before the prom. I though that was so nice, it helped them get to know each other a little better before the prom. For the prom the went with two other couples. They ate at the Mayan Restaurant and then went to the dance which was held in the Skybox at the U of U. They ended a great time. Dayna was so glad she didn't go with the other guy. Here are some pictures from the prom.

The next big thing was Dayna's 18th Birthday!! Wow I can't believe I'm officially the parent of and adult child. It's so crazy. I can hardly believe it. I checked her out of school and we went to lunch and the Olive Garden (can you tell that's our favorite restaurant) It was so funny when we walked in there, cause the hostess lady asked me if I wanted a kiddie menu (referring to Dayna) I said no and laughed as we sat down. I know she looks young, but not 12 or under right? We told the waiter it was her birthday, and asked him to guess hold she was, he wouldn't guess, so we told him, she was 18. He looked surprised and said he wouldn't have guessed that. We just keep telling Dayna when she's 30 and looks 20 she appreciate looking young. After we ate we went shopping and Dayna got two shirts, and some cute sandals. We had a little family party for her that night. Our cute home teachers, brought over a present for her, it was cute pink and white towels for her to take to college with her. Dayna's friend party was on Saturday. We wanted to do something really fun for her 18th birthday, I told he how my sister's son had a mall scavenger hunt for his birthday and they had a great time. (Thank you for the idea Malinda) . Everyone met at our house, where we had pizza, cake & ice cream. We ended up having 3 girls and 2 boys come to the party, so we let Jason , be the third boy, so it would be even. We headed off to Southtowne mall. They decided to do girls against boys for the teams. I gave them each a list of things, they had to find out, or collect or take pictures of & set them on their way. A little while later Jason called me and said they went to the information desk to find out some the answers on the paper. There was a security office lady at the desk, when she found out they were doing a Scavenger hunt, she told him they were supposed to get permission to do it ahead of time and that, an adult would have to come over there and sign a paper in order for them to continue. She also said both teams needed to be there, so she could tell them the rules. So I called the girls and we went over there. I thought she was really nice about it, and I signed the paper. Then we were back in business. We scheduled another meeting time and the kids took off again. About 15 minutes before the time was up. The boys showed up, Jason said he had been doing everything and the other two boys were being party poopers, so they were done. They had only done about half the things on the list. The girls however, came back and had pretty much done everything on the list. They had a great time! They won the prize, which was drinks at Orange Julius. Here's some of the pictures the girls took , some of them are kinda blurry for some reason. I gave the boys my camera took take pictures, but they used one of the boys cell phones instead, so I don't have any of those pictures.

I am so happy Dayna had a good time at her party, even if the boys didn't. Now that she is 18 she is looking for a job, so she can save money to go to Snow College this fall. Still can't believe it.

A few days after Dayna's birthday. My neice Jackie got married. She is only 18 so, it totally freaks me out for Dayna. I hope she waits a few more years before she gets married. It was a nice reception. They looked really happy and in love. Here are a few pictures I took.
