It's Official

We want to officially announce what most of you have already heard. We bought a house! Finally after all the years of renting we are going to have our own place and feel like real people. Some of you say "wow, that was quick". Actually I've been looking at houses for several months now, just seeing what's out there, doing my research, etc. so when we went out to look at houses with our realtor it didn't take long to recognize the one we wanted. I've attached pics to share. Obviously that's not our furniture in the pics., but it gives you a good idea of what it looks like. We love the room colors already so for the most part we won't be changing very much.

The house is located in the Frisco 4th ward, for those of you who were wondering. We are sad to leave our current ward, but we decided that since this is a long-term commitment we couldn't just think about what our ward is like now, since wards split/people move anyway. We are still close to all of our friends here, so it's not like we're going anywhere!

We don't close until August, so we've got a couple of months to wait, but we are super excited.

(I, Sarah, just want to add that I am the most excited about the kitchen!!! Considering the fact that our first kitchen didn't even have a kitchen counter and our current kitchen only has 3 drawers--all of which are only about 6 inches wide--I'm very excited to have a large, functional kitchen. Maybe now I can learn to cook better:)

Another great quote

While changing Madison's diaper

Sarah: "P, U, you stink. What have you been eating?"
Madison: "Boogers."

Recent Quotes From Madison

Our goofy girl "taking a nap" with the couch pillow and Jaxon's burp cloth.

Madison: "I'm going to get married in the temple someday."
Chris: "What boy are you going to marry?"
Madison: "A green one."
Sarah: "Oh really, what's his name?"
Madison: "Baby Sister."

Madison: "Where you going mommy?"
Sarah: "To a baby shower."
A few minutes later,
Madison: "Mommy going to a baby toilet?"

Madison: "Does baby Jaxon have makeups?" (hiccups)

Madison: "Are we going to ride on the alligator?" (elevator)

Madison: "Are we going to the library?"
Sarah: "No, not right now"
Madison: "It's too hot?"
(I guess I've been using that excuse too much lately.)

The day after we went to the Galleria to play on the playground and see Chris at work:
Madison: "Where's Daddy?"
Sarah: "Daddy's at work."
Madison: "Daddy at work at the playground?"
Wouldn't that be fun!

I know there are more. If I think of them I'll post them. Right now my brain functioning has decreased to about 50% of it's normal capacity due to lack of sleep. I had to make a doctor appointment for Jaxon yesterday and I'm sure the nurse thought I was a complete ditz because I couldn't concentrate and so I'm sure I sounded totally clueless.

Growing like weeds!

The big adventure for today was a visit to the doctor. Madison had her 2 year appointment and Jaxon had his 2 week appointment.

My little Madison weighed in at 24 pounds and 331/2 inches tall. This puts her in the 50th percentile on height and the 25th percentile on height. She also had her final shot until she's 3! Hooray! Unfortunately Jaxon starts shots in 2 weeks, so we have to start the whole process all over again. Sigh, I hate watching them get shots.

Jaxon is proving to be absolutely nothing like his petite sister, who didn't make it anywhere near the 50th percentile on anything until she was 1 (in fact, she was in the 7th percentile when she was born). This kid has been eating non-stop and it shows. He's put on almost a pound and a half and grown an entire inch since he was born! I'm not surprised, considering the fact that I've been exhausted and STARVING for the last 2 weeks, so much for eating healthy after the baby!) He weighed in at 8 lbs 13oz. I don't think Madison hit 9 pounds until about 8 weeks or so. He's in the 50th percentile in weight and the 90th percentile in height. It looks like the tall genes are kicking in with this one. What a little chunk! That's okay, I'm glad he's healthy and it's nice to have a child who actually eats (even if it does wear me out).

So yes, we are all still alive. Our children are healthy, and I haven't gone insane yet, even though my mom has been gone for two whole days. Maybe I will be able to handle two children after all. We'll see. It's still a little soon to tell :)

Random thoughts about my 2 kids

1) I love not being pregnant. I mean I'm absolutely positively thrilled that I'm not pregnant anymore. Who cares that I've got a bunch of weight to lose. I can bend at the waist and twist from side to side. No one is kicking my organs non-stop, and I'm probably waking up less during the night because I don't have to pee so much anymore (not that my quantity of sleep is getting any larger, but I do wake up less frequently). Not to mention no more heartburn, and suddenly everything smells really, really good. Here I was thinking that the whole world had just kind of starting smelling bad :)

2) I love having 2 kids at different stages in life. I love that Madison is super cute and absolutely hilarious and that Jax is so sweet and little and cuddly. I get the best of both worlds: entertainment and snuggles.

3) I'm relieved that Madison loves Jax so much! I was afraid she wouldn't like him, but she is very interested in everything he does and wants to share everything she does with him. She wants him to swim with her and eat with her and play with all of her toys. I'm surprised at how much she understands how to play with him. The other day out of the blue she just started doing "little pigs" on his toes! So cute!

4) I'm thankful that my mom is here. There's nothing like having a mom to help out with the baby. Last night she was up with him for almost 3 hours when he decided that 1 a.m. was a good time to play! What would I do without her? I really have no idea.

5) Most of all I feel blessed that I get to be a mother and that I have a supportive husband and 2 wonderful children. Sometimes I'm completely overwhelmed with the idea of raising these kids (especially when my mom leaves), but I wouldn't give up the chance for anything!

Jaxon

So yeah, the Mac blog isn't working right now, so we might have to switch back over here! That's what I get for being cheap. Enjoy some pics of the new boy...
