Recently in the life of the Winters!....

So I got laid off of my job at the mortgage company sso I don't get to sit around all day and surf the internet and get paid for it... Also, we don't have internet at our apartment so right now, I'm at the college waiting for Mike to get done with class. I am now a waitress at Perkin's. So far I love it for the fact that there is actually SOMETHING to do, but I am on my feet all day. It makes me really tired at night.

Mike is still working hard as ever in school and in work so I don't see him much except in the evenings after his night classes. He is going hunting back home this weekend and I have to work on Friday so I won't be able to go with him. This will be the first weekend since we have been married that we will not sleep in the same bed for a few nights. Sad! :(

I just got the calling of the Achievement Days leader so I get to spend every wednesday at 4 with 8-11 year olds. I love it so far! My girls are awesome! Mike is the Ward Mission Leader so he gets to meet with/talk on the phone to the missionaries almost every night! It's really keeping him busy! AND ME!! haha I guess thats usually how it goes (the supportive wife role;) )

He has also now started a basketball league thing for work so on top of working, school, and a busy church calling, he practices about once a week for this upcoming season.... we'll see how good they are.... ha

Houses and Phones

The house overhaul is COMPLETE! Mike's mom LOVED it (and Mike's dad was sad about the antlers that we took down... oops! haha!) Pictures to come soon....

We had a really great time, but we are SOOOO exhausted. We got up there at about 8 on Friday and worked on taping, priming and the little projects til 11 or 12. The next morning we were up at 8 painting... painting... painting! Whew! With 7 of us working, it took until about 6:30 and his mom came home at 7 to see all the work! It was so great to see her so happy! :)

Macy and Brandon are coming to town this weekend again to see the Utah vs. Wyo game. We will lose, but Brandon is a BYU fan and is going to cheer AGAINST Utah... even if it means cheer for Wyo.... he really likes football...

Hm.... what else is new... oh.... I registered to vote today... as an independant... I know, I know, It's awesome... haha j/k. Also, I ordered my new phone upgrade today.. it's nothing special... but it DOES have a camera. I have this problem where I ALWAYS drop my phone--I think my fingers are made of butter or something slimy like that-- So my last phone (which was awesome) broke so I'm stuck with this OLD one. For some reason, the upgrade I'm supposed to get is off of this phone instead of the one that I had. Lame.... Here's the new one I'm getting in 2-5 business days...YAY!!

Hopefully the office will be on so I can watch it on thursday! I can't wait to see what happens this season! Well that's the latest update.... Stay tuned for before and after pictures.

Flat Tires, Make-Up, Season 5 and One Bruised Elbow!!

I am such a KLUTZ!!!!

So first for the flat tire story... I somehow ran over 4 nails!! I was driving to UPS to drop a package off for work when I ran over something that sounded like glass... I was so nervous that I just popped my tire right then and there, so I tried to hurry and get to the UPS store so I could check it out. I walked around my car kinda poking and prodding on my tires (mind you I was in a skirt...) and everything looked fine. BUT.... I am a girl... I missed it. I took my car home, and it ran fine with no problem... then I went to a Mary Kay meeting. Since I got home first, Mike's car was parked behind mine so I took his. He went to class and we decided to meet at Wal-Mart afterwards.

--During my meeting for Mary Kay, I decided to become a consultant... I'm a little scared but I really love the product.. also, Mary Kay Ash's policy is God first, family second, and work third, so it really got me! :)

Mike and I met at Wal-Mart and we did some shopping. When we came out of the store to go home, I got in his car and he got in mine to drive away... I didn't get far before I recieved a call from my handsome husband telling me the tire on my car had gone flat. He unbolted it and tried to wiggle it off, but the people at the shop put it on too tight so it made the tire like seal to something... (I'm not really sure... remember I'm a girl) anyways, he couldn't get the tire off. It was about 10:30 so we decided to go get a sledge hammer from my dad's house so he could wack the tire off... So we got in his car, leaving my all jacked up (haha) in the wal-mart parking lot. We got the sledge hammer and as soon as Mike hit the tire from the back 3 or 4 times it FINALLY came off...

He grabbed the spare to stick on there and lo-and-behold..... it was flat. Lame. I was so cold from standing outside, that by then I just wanted to leave my car there forever. My dad has an air compressor so off we went in Mike's car again. It was a good thing that my parents live here in Laramie, because ALL of the air pumps at the gas stations get put away at night. So we got it filled up and put back onto the car and were home at about 11:20. Sigh!

The next day I took the car in and got the tire fixed and put back on, so it's all smooth sailing... That night I went to a friend's house --without Mike cuz he was in class again :(-- to watch THE OFFICE SEASON 5!!! :) So exciting! You MUST see it... but only if you have watched the end of season 4! Afterwards, they dropped me off and came in to get a tour of our little apartment. I walked up the stairs when they left to lock the door and on my way down I fell.... It was really funny and really crappy at the same time. It hurt so bad! Mike came running in from the other room cuz this is what he heard... bumfp. bumpf. bumpf. bumfp. "euhhh......." He must have thought I passed out or something. It hurt so bad. My elbow and arm are STILL bruised a week later!

So I have concluded that:

1. Always watch for nails on the road and ALWAYS make sure your spare tire is pumped up...
2. I like make-up.
3. I LOVE The Office!
4. When you're walking down slippery stairs in slippers.... you might.... ya know. slip!
5. I'm a klutz!

Any Ideas?!

I NEVER know what to make for dinner. Ramen noodles, hamburger helper and cereal have fizzled out and I'm getting sick of them.... any ideas??

Well my dad fixed my car while we were in Utah this past weekend, and it turns out the muffler was rusted away from the exhaust pipe or something like that... I don't know. It's fixed now.

The annoying rash on my neck and arm is now gone too...Thank goodness!! It was getting so irritating.

The pokes lost. We suck.

Visiting Macy and Brandon was fun but I'm so sick of driving now. We're going up to my mother in law's house next weekend for the house overhaul project and I'm not looking forward to driving another 6 hours... but.... Kelsey's coming (I'M SUPER EXCITED!! ) and she said we could take her car. It should be a good weekend.

My dad is taking Mike elk hunting this weekend which means I'll be hanging out with Melissa and probably watching a lot of chick flicks that I can't ever watch when he's around.... It will be nice to NOT watch hunting shows and football this weekend. I know there's only one time every year to hunt and to watch football but WHY do they have to be at the same time. Lame.

Anyways, I'm trying to figure out what to have for dinner....

Loud Cars and Cortizone!

So just an update, I drive a really little ugly car that most of you already have seen.... just today it started being really loud. I was driving back to work after lunch and I passed a huge and loud dump truck. As I kept driving, the sound stayed loud and I was a little worried....I called my dad and took my car for him to take a look at it. Turns out I have a hold in my muffler so my car sounds like it belongs to a tecker! LAME!

I also have this mysterious rash on my left arm and the right underside of my jaw so I've been rubbing cortizone on it all day... I don't know where it came from I'm a wreck! haha!

Tomorrow we head to Utah to visit Macy and Brandon to watch the BYU vs. WYO game, I'm expecting to lose but it will be fun anyways! GOOOOOO POKES!! :)

My New Hair! :)

Mike's sister came to town this weekend and we went shopping for a bunch of stuff for his mom's house project. Mike was a really good sport, he drove us down there and even shopped with us without complaining! I am so lucky to have such a great guy like him!!

His sister Macy cuts hair in Utah so she cut mine and I love it!! My hair's curly but I straighten it sometimes.

For all of you looking for a photographer... you NEED to work with Megan! She is an outstanding photographer and really worked perfectly for what we needed. She took our engagements, my bridals, and our wedding pictures!

THEY ALL TURNED OUT SO GREAT!!

She worked within our price range and gave us all the proofs—digitally enhanced—so they looked way better! She is a very hard worker and takes this job and hobby seriously but makes it fun!

We loved working with her and I highly recommend getting your pictures done with her...

any pictures: family pictures, baby pictures, wedding pictures, senior pictures or anything! She’s truly AMAZING!!

Also, I don't know if you can tell but it was raining on our wedding day and still the pictures turned out wonderful thanks to her! I don't know what we would have done without her!!

Smoker Friendly??

So today is day 2 of blogging and I have the funniest story!

Yesterday I was making this delicious peach ice cream but i ran out of ice to put in the ice cream maker. There's this gas station on 3rd and Sheridan kinda close to where I live so I thought I would go pick some up. I walk into the store and it is a tobacco store.... all you can see from wall to wall, window to window, is any kind of tobacco product you want. Cigarettes, cigars, pipes, chew.... you name it. All I wanted was some ICE!!! So after being completely astounded by all the disgusting stuff in there, I turn to my right to see this really creepy guy with piercings and tattoos all over his body... I was pretty freaked out!... So.... I tried to calmly say "I just need some ice..." He said ok and asked for $1.90. I pulled out my wallet, thinking he was just gonna swipe it right from my hand to get out some change. It seemed like it took forever!!! After he put the money into the register he handed me a key to get the ice from a cooler outside... I was so relieved to be able to walk out of there... I unlocked the box, got my ice and handed him the key thru the outside window and drove away as soon as possible!!! When I got back to the apartment, I just stood outside so I could air off a little so I didn't smell like marijuana!! ....WOW. For those of you that were thinking about stopping by that gas station "Smoker Friendly" .... don't it's not pretty!

A Little About Us!

We recently got married on August 15th and are working on our new life together. It has been an interesting start. It's definately better living with one guy than 3 girls! :) Mike has hard night classes so I stay at home and try to gain motivation to organize all of our junk. I took this semester off to work and make money and also I applied to the Dental Hygiene Program in Cheyenne, WY so I'm waiting to see if I get in... :S I work at a mortgage company with my mom so I'm learning alot about the mortgage business. It's been kinda slow lately... which means....More time to blog!.... haha

Mike has just changed majors to Pharmacy so he still has about a year and half (or less we hope!) until he can start applying for the actual program. He's also working 30 hours a week so we can have health insurance through his job.... He works so hard!!

We live in a 3 bedroom basement apartment and we have enough stuff to almost fill ALL the rooms! Just last night I finally cleaned out what we call the "storage room" that had all of our gifts from the wedding. At least that room is done, now to only get motivation for the guest room where all of our real junk is. One of the first projects I did was to clean the stairs that lead to our apartment. They are wooden with white paint and they were so yucky! So I scrubbed and scrubbed with comet! **MIRACLE** Check these out: sick huh? They still look dirty but they're CLEAN!!

Mike has 2 sisters who live here and we love spending time with them. Melissa is married to Chad and they have a 2 1/2 year old...Sienna... so fun!

The other day I put one of those sour WarHead candies in her mouth and she made the greatest face!!! "It's sour Kate!".... HAHA!!! SOOOO FUNNY!! Here's little Sienna with her sour face!

Kelsey is his other sister who is 21 and lives by herself... Last year he lived with her so I got to see her everytime I would go to his apartment... I miss seeing her all the time... This weekend we took her to the UW football game to watch the Cowboys get STOMPED by the Falcons.... 3-23.... we suck!

Our new project is re-doing my mother-in-law's house. We are planning a trip up to Burlington to paint the walls, get rid of old wall hangings (like those dried flower wreaths and the kitchen goose decorations from the 80's). Mike's sister Macy is coming up this week so all of us girls can go shopping for curtains... couch covers... etc. for the house project... I'm so excited! Mike's mom never does anything for herself, she would be happy to keep all that old stuff in her house for the rest of her life...!

Well that's about it for now... I lost the cord that goes from the computer to my camera, but hopefully I can find it to post some awesome pictures! Keep your eye out for them... I've got some good ones.... :)
