Jacob's First Birthday Party

I still can't believe our little guy is 1! His birthday was the day after we came back from California for Jamie's wedding. Needless to say it was a cute, intimate little birthday celebrated with just close family members. He sure looked cute that day! Wait, which one? Both of them :)

Check out that cute mug.

I'm pretty sure Autumn was more excited about his birthday than anyone.

Macey's made his little smash cake for free with the purchase of a larger sheet cake. He loved it.

He was a little hesitant to just dig right in at first. I had to shove the first piece in his mouth and then when I gave him the fork he started digging in. By the end it was all over his face!

Lots of cute little presents! His cousins were there to celebrate with him.

At church with those big, curly locks. Stealing hearts since 2014.

This Mickey Mouse theme was the same theme Spencer had for his 1st birthday. Grandma bought him Mickey Mouse jammies to match. So cute!

Here he is at his 12 month check up. About 8th percentile for weight and 35th for height. Just a tiny little guy!

Jacob at 14 months

Jacob is just such a cute little boy. He is getting chunkier, happier, and getting so much more personality. He is a generally very happy and content little boy. If I could use just one word to describe him it would be SWEET. He has an extremely loving and cuddly personality. He loves giving hugs and recently he started giving kisses (so sweet). He likes to wave hello and says "nanananana" when he's hungry which is almost always :)

He sleeps really well through the night. He goes to bed around 9 and can wake up between 8 and 9:30. He used to wake up between 7:30 and 8:30 but lately we've been going to bed later. He walks really fast and can get anywhere he wants so fast. He and Autumn play so well together. He likes to follow her around and play with what she plays with. Autumn likes to give him food and water and is such a big help around the house. He loves playing with toys and is always getting into things to play with.

For halloween Autumn was Rainbow Dash and Jacob was an Incredible. They were stinkin cute!

His curls are just to die for. I get so many complements on his hair it's amazing. I know I need to trim it up but it's just so stinkin cute I can't bring myself to do it.

He has a contagious smile that just lights up my entire world. I LOVE giving him hugs and kisses and snuggles. He is still nursing and knows how to ask for it now. It's pretty cute when he brings me a blanket and wants me to nurse him. I just love this little boy. He has the most beautiful eyes of anyone I've ever seen. They are not quite brown, but not quite grey or blue. I'm interested to see what they will turn out to be.

He is still wearing 9-12 month clothes. He is growing into a toddler and I'm not quite sure what to think of it! He loves to swing, go down slides, climb on things, dance to music, jump on beds, play with tupperware, drink water and milk, he loves suckers, bananas, apples, bread, noodles, lasagna, and any kind of meat. He loves playing on the stool in the bathroom and pretends to brush his teeth, put on makeup and comb his hair. He is so observant of everything and everyone. We love you Jacob! You are turning into such a handsome little boy!

Jacob at 10 months and Autumn at 3 years

It's been a long time since I've updated this blog. I have a lot of thoughts I would like to express here about my life and my kids. I can't believe next month my baby will be 1 years old! It seems like just yesterday I was figuring out nursing all over again and waking up in the middle of the night for late feedings. He is taking steps already and I'm sure he'll be walking and talking before I know it! I am so in love with him. His face! You guys his face! He looks like a porcelain baby boy. No joke when he is staring at me all I see is perfection. His 3 (almost 4) cute little teeth smiling at me with those crazy curly locks! Seriously where did he get curly hair from? My dad? Spencer's mom? I just hope he always has it because I'm so in love with it. He has a skinny little body, but is on the higher end for height and head circumference. He can clap, laugh, babble, scream, cry, wave hi, and is truly a very perceptive little guy.

One thing I love about him is his sense of adventure. If he sees other kids playing he is right there with them. He gets right into the action and really isn't afraid of anything. When we are at the park he will crawl all over the sand and try to play with the swings and the ladders. If there is a toy around he is touching it or patting it and gets really excited about things. He will start laughing or breathing really heavy because he has such a happy and exciting demeanor. So many people have said how happy they notice he is. My mom says he's the happiest baby she's ever seen. WOW!

He is sleeping really well through the night. He will go to bed around 8:30 and wakes up between 7:30 and 8:30am. He will cry in his crib just hanging on the side rail waiting for mama to come and get him. He eats milk for breakfast and will eat solids for lunch and dinner. He poops a lot! At least twice a day if not more. We switched from cloth to disposable after he started with solids and let me tell you I am glad because I did not want to scrape off that poopy diaper! Jacob will follow me around crawling when I get ready in the morning. He follows me in the bathroom trying to open and close doors with his hands; getting stuck nearly every time. He loves playing with the toilet paper and the toilet so I try and keep that away from him. He is so fast! If he gets really excited he will crawl extra fast. I spend a lot of my day laughing at him. Today I was trying to take a small nap on the couch so I put him in his bounce a bout/exersaucer thingy and he started blowing bubbles by scrunching his mouth and nose together. I couldn't help but open my eyes and laugh at how funny and cute he looked.

As soon as he hears me opening the dishwasher he is right there ready to play with the dishes. It's so cute. It's like he has a 6th sense for the dishwasher. He will get on top of it and try to literally crawl into it and play with anything he can get his hands on. He loves to suck on his hands and goes "babababababa" while taking his hand pushing it against his mouth over and over again. He loves to make a mess when he's eating. If I'm feeding him with a spoon he will wipe his hand on his mouth to shove more food in making a giant mess on his hand! So frustrating!

About a week ago he took his very first steps at the cabin! I missed the very first ones. But Spencer saw it. Then he did it for me right after. I still need to get it on video. Today he took 3 steps. He gets nervous and then will fall to the floor. Autumn took her first steps at 9 months and was full on walking at 10 months. Jacob won't be too far behind I'm sure!

I do love my little Jacob. He is such a blessing in my life. I truly can not imagine my life without him! He lights up my life every single day. I honestly don't know how I went 29 years without him. I'm so grateful I get to have him as my son for the rest of my life and for eternity. I am so excited to see him grow up into a little boy. A little nervous? Yes. I had two brothers growing up but my mom and dad dealt with all the tricky stuff...puberty, girls, etc. Good thing Spencer is so good at making awkward things comfortable. Spencer and him are just adorable together. They look so much alike. I love that they share a name. He loves his little boy so much.

Autumn is a handful these days. She loves so much, all the time, too hard and too much. She kisses and kisses and hugs and tugs and plays and laughs and sometimes it's all a little overwhelming. Not just with me. With Jacob, her friends, the neighborhood friends and other people's babies. At least 50 times a day I am saying "be soft, no more kisses, don't touch their face, hands to yourself, just mommy and daddy kisses, etc." It's pretty funny. She is an extremely lovable girl and is so darn cute. She is my best little friend. Truly. I love her so much. She makes me laugh so much. Lately her favorite phrases are "that's so wonderful" and "that is a beautiful dress mommy". Or, "Wow mommy your hair is so beautiful." Isn't she the sweetest? She loves to play with princesses and my little ponies. She loves loves loves drinking water and has to go potty all the time because of it. She was in dance class this summer and was super scared at first but ended up really loving it. They had a dance recital in July. After that I put her in two weeks of swimming lessons. She is a mermaid in the water (so she says). She loves her dance teacher "Kris Karissa'" for Miss Karissa and her swimming teacher. This fall we are starting a neighborhood pre-school, rotating with 3 other moms. I'm pretty excited!

Our days are pretty packed with activities. We go on lots of walks with friends to the rec center, play at parks nearly 2-3 times a week, and have play groups at the splash park and are often doing an adventure a week with my friends from the ward. Some of the girls I hang out with are Betsy Toyn, Ashley Thomas, Michelle Oxborrow, Megan Hunter, Heather Buchannan, Kyra Faulkner, Carrie Hansen, Angie May, Emily Albright and a few others. I mostly hang out with Betsy and her daughters Adelyn and Taryn. We go walking on M/W followed by a visit to a local park, go to the library on Tue, and on Fridays go do an adventure around the valley. Our mornings are pretty busy and the afternoons are really relaxed at home. I like it that way!

Spencer is thriving at work. He had a summer work party last night at Thanksgiving point. We have had a busy summer visiting Washington for my family reunion and taking lots of trips up to the cabin with friends and family and we recently signed up for a Ragnar Race in Vegas in November. Woo hoo! I really have enjoyed starting to run and train for something again. Other than that we are pretty boring. I have been reading some great books this summer and have divulged into Grey's Anatomy (11 seasons to catch up on)!

I am truly blessed to have a family who loves me. My life has it's ups and downs but for the most part I am very happy and excited for what is happening for our little family. I will try to update this more with pictures but for now I kind of needed to explode with my thoughts for now :)

Jacob's Hospital Photos

Artistic Emily Photography did an amazing job taking these photos. They were taken the same day he was born before the sun went down. He had a perfect little face and was so so precious the second he was born. We are so grateful and blessed for this little tiny miracle!

I love newborn toes!
