We were finally able to celebrate Pepper's birthday! The stars must have aligned. We could not get it together. I have the same plight of every parent - the more kids there are in the family, the likelihood of having a birthday celebration of anykind (let alone, an actual party dedicated solely to them) drastically decreases. So with Pepper being #4, we were hard pressed just to celebrate it as a family.

Her birthday was sadly forgotten. It's hard having a birthday so close after Christmas. It comes too fast.
The first attempt was on her actual birthday, Jan 12. A sad sort of celebration, honestly. Mike was out of town, Mom's energy was tapped. I didn't mention it to the boys thinking they might guilt me into baking her a cake. So no cake or even a simple cupcake were made, no presents, there was no resemblance of a milestone 1st birthday at all. Out of guilt I finally told the kids at bedtime that I that it was her birthday. The boys were so cute about it and made such a big deal. They sang her 'Happy Birthday,' turned out the lights, and gave her an imaginery cake with candles that they helped blow out. They even wrapped up her own toys for her (in a blanket) and gave them to her as quasi-imaginery birthday presents.

We attempted to celebrate with the Barlows in January, but Pepper started throwing up with the flu 15 min before everyone showed up. So that didn't happen.
It only took 3 tries, but it actually happened! We celebrated with the Quances, during SuperBowl. Keri's kids were there, grandma, grandpa, and the family. It wasn't a party really, but with a cupcake, candle, and pictures to document, maybe she'll think it was.

She looks pretty content with that cupcake. I think she'll be okay :)
