June 2011

The boys played soccer in the spring.  I think they had fun, but some games it was hard to tell.  Whatever the case, it provides some good entertainment for the parents!

We celebrated Grandpa John's 92nd birthday with a party at mom and dad's.  The slide was a hit!

Matt thought it would be fun to have a campout in the backyard.  I thought it was a great idea (especially because I didn't have to participate!).  I got them all settled out there and came in the house to enjoy a chick-flick by myself.  I got about 10 minutes into the movie when I heard the sound of feet coming up the stairs towards the bedroom.  Apparently it had started to rain and no one wanted to stay outside anymore so the campout moved inside - to my bed.  It was fun while it lasted!

We found this fun park and decided to stop in for a little family picnic.

The boys and I had fun making cupcakes for Father's Day.

We enjoyed some summer sun in the backyard with cousin Brielle. We had a new-to-us slide thanks to Mom getting a new one for Grandpa John's birthday.

Visits with Santa

The boys were super excited to write their Santa lists and give them to Santa at our ward Christmas party.  At the party Santa ended up getting lost and was late - making a lot of kids (and parents) go stir crazy!  When Santa finally walked into the room Spencer got a look of panic on his face.  Turns out he was so nervous/excited to talk to Santa that he couldn't remember the name of the toy he wanted.  After I reminded him of the name he went around saying 'Nerf Disc Gun, Nerf Disc Gun' over and over so he wouldn't forget.  It was so cute to see how excited he got about talking to Santa.

Thanksgiving 2011

Shelly and I baking pies for Thanksgiving - it's tradition.
For some reason the boys pictured themselves eating drumsticks for Thanksgiving dinner, (probably because every cartoon about Thanksgiving shows someone eating a drumstick) so we made it happen.
Thanksgiving was really nice.  For some reason I can never remember to take pictures on this day, and the one that I do have isn't the best.  Maybe I'll be better next year.

Halloween 2011

The boys were pretty excited to wear their costumes to school and be in the Halloween parade.  Mario was a popular costume this year, there were three Marios in the boys class alone, and lots more in the rest of the school.  I thought it would be cute if the Spencer would've been Luigi, but he didn't want to - I guess that would have been too cliche for him. It was fun to help out with the boys classroom party, but it was also crazy!  5 year olds have a ton of energy!!

Halloween night was nice this year.  We had dinner with friends and then, while the men took the kids trick-or-treating, us girls got to stay in the nice warm house and hand out candy.  I think all Halloweens should be this way from now on.
