Ethan's First Day of School!!!

So Ethan had his first day of school on Monday... I was worried that he wouldn't want to stay because in the past he usually is very shy at first, and has a hard time letting go of mom... anyway so we took him to his school, he gave us all (myself, Mia & Kenya) a hug and a kiss, and he went off to get in line with his classmates, then they took him into the classroom and he was happy the whole time!!! I got teary eyed, but Ethan was fine!!! oh, my big boy!!! I was so proud of him!!!!!!!
A funny thing happened when I picked him up... the letter that I had gotten from the school said that he was in Mrs. Lemmon's afternoon class, but then when I went to pick him up, his teacher told me that she had him on her morning class! this was great news, as we originally wanted to do morning!! so that was a great surprise! When we got home on Monday Ethan said to me: "Mama, I went to school and I didn't cry!!!"
So on Tuesday he got to experience the bus... I took him to the bus stop, and then I followed the bus to make sure that he knew where to go... he did pretty good, but so much for my sneaking, I suddenly see him waving at me!!!!!!! Oh well, but he got to ride the bus home, and he was really happy when he got off and started telling me all about school! it was great!
On his third day of school I decided I would take him to school, and then let him ride the bus home... there are just too many new things going on for him, plus I don't like him to be unsupervised while he is waiting to go in his classroom... I guess maybe I'm being over protective, but I want to make sure he is ok, and that he knows for sure where he is supposed to go..... I'll have to let him take the bus to school as it gets colder and snowy, but until then, I'll take advantage of being able to be there for him.
This picture is after his first day of school, they made that hat in his class...
He actually came up with the thumbs up!!!
He wrote on his hat a couple of things he knows... STOP, GO and his name backwards....hahahaha
This picture is on his second day while waiting for the bus...

Another Goodbye...

My sister and her family have left to go back to their home in Japan... we won't see them again until next summer... so this is very sad, especially for me... my sister has always been my best friend and we have always had a very strong bond between us, we had a great time together for the 2 months she was here, but as all good things must have an end so did her stay.
The kids were able to get to know each other better this year, and Ethan keeps asking me when are Vanya and KC going to come to sleep over... I've tried to explain to him that they've gone home to a very far away place, but how can a 5 year old comprehend distances???
Anyway... goodbye to the Mylroies and we hope that you have a great year!!! We love you!!!
A couple of weeks ago we went to a chilean restaurant in Orem
called "Pantrucas" the food was delicious!!

Goodbye

We just wanted to say goodbye to our good friends Chris & Alison and their kids Maci & Gavin, they have left to go to school to Missouri, our kids have grown up together, and I know that Ethan will be asking for Maci..., yes they will be missed, not just by the kids, but by us the adults as well. Josh and his friend Joel have already had a get together to mourn the loss of their friend Chris. They will just have to continue to be in touch by email, blogs, and of course playing Mario Kart Wii over the internet...
We wish them the best of luck and we hope to see them again in a few months during the holidays!

Soccer

Ethan started playing soccer for the first time!!! He was really shy on the first game, not wanting to go out and play at all... and then the second game he got a little more courageous, and the last game they had he played even better getting more into following the ball... although he doesn't like to kick the ball much as he is afraid to get hurt... It's really fun to watch the cluster of kids running after the ball!!!

Ashlee & Staven

Last Wednesday we had a wedding to go to, Josh's sister Ashlee got married to Staven Thompson, we're so happy for them, we love them both to death and we wish them the best of everything!!!
Here are the newlyweds... with all of the Rasmussen side cousins except for one.
In the back: Ethan, Morgan & Jaxon,
In the front: Mia, Savannah, Avery, Ashlee, Abbey, Kenya & Staven
Our little family...

Mia didn't want to take a picture with me, and she didn't want to let go of that water bottle... at least she smiled really good!!! She loved getting dressed up though! she especially loved the dangling earrings!!!
This is the wedding cake I made, many of you saw me carrying pieces of it... well, this is what it looked like when put together!!! it turned out nice, and I was very happy especially since Ash & Staven had put their trust in me... not having made a wedding cake before... but thanks to Josh's aunt Julie(who is an expert cake maker, and who gave me some really good pointers), I was able to pull it off.

Busy, busy, busy....

Wow! so again I find myself wondering where the time has gone! here are some pixs of the different things we've been doing this month...
We went to visit my cousin Jessica, and there the kids got to ride horses, they had a blast!

Kenya loved to sit in that little camping chair!

Ethan was having fun dressing up... We also spent some time at our pool... Ethan loves to jump in the water...
and Mia of course has to copy him...
EJ has learned to swim under water really well Kenya loves the water too!

Here is EJ at swimming lessons, he really liked it

and he did really well, here he is floating on his back!

swimming backwards...

We went to Salt Lake to see the Pioneer day parade... it was really nice, they had lots of floats, and we got to sit in the shade!!! And Tata, Titi, my grandma and my sister with her kids were all there, so we had a great time together.

This is one of the floats that came by, I got quite a few pictures of other floats, but I figured I didn't want to put a whole bunch of float pictures.... We also got to see our Prophet, President Thomas S. Monson, but I couldn't get any good pictures of him...
Ethan and K.C.
Kenya was having fun wearing Vanya's hat...
My grandma, Margaret, Isabel & Vanya watching the parade...

We've been really busy with activities, but we've had lots of fun especially being able to spend time with the Mylroies! we love them and we're going to miss them so much when they go back to Japan!
