Remembrance Day

On Remembrance Day let's not celebrate wars but think of those who lost their lives. Let's not think of producing more deadly weapons of mass destruction but let's think of how we can bring about peaceful world. Wars are horror and destructions for all involved.

My Dream- No war and unpolluted earth

I watched this video on the internet. I liked it so much that I decided to post it.

Lyrics:

In my dreams there's a place without war
No more guns no more pain no more hurt
It's a world full of joy without sadness
People sing people dance with all happiness

Take me to my dream
Love is everything
Where there is no war
And then children sing
Love is all around
It's the only thing
In a dream that must come true
In my dreams there's a place where it's clean
No more waste in the air and the sea
So this place will be pure and all healthy
You can live your life in heaven_

But I know it's just a dream
Will it ever change this life?
Hope one day it'll turn around
Into the place that I dream about
Take me to this dream
Love is everything
Where there is no war
And the children sing
Love is all around
It's the only thing
In a dream that must come true

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani: Iran has no plans to build nuclear weapons

Ann Curry of NBC interviewed Hassan Rouhani.

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
“We have never pursued or sought a nuclear bomb, and we are not going to do so,” he said. “We solely are looking for peaceful nuclear technology.”

Asked whether he thought Obama looked weak when he backed off the air-strike threat, Rouhani replied, “We consider war a weakness. Any government or administration that decides to wage a war, we consider a weakness. And any government that decides on peace, we look on it with respect to peace.”

Rouhani described Israel as "an occupier and usurper government" that "does injustice to the people of the region, and has brought instability to the region, with its warmongering policies."   He added Israel "shouldn't allow itself to give speeches about a democratically and freely elected government."

Syrian Crisis: Barack Obama and Valdimir Putin

Have Russia and U.S. reached the definitive deal on Syria? Time will tell. In the meantime the killings in Syria continue. I hope that this brutality will end soon.

Putin gets the medal

"US Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov met to work on Moscow’s disarmament proposal. However, Washington remains sceptical and Mr Kerry has said US military action is still possible to punish Mr Assad for a poison gas attack in rebel territory last month."

May there be peace in the world

World needs peace and not wars.

When wars and conflicts totally cease,
In our world, there shall be peace.
People must learn to get along,
Not blame others, for being wrong.

They fight for control, fight for land,
Some just need a helping hand.
We must rid ourselves of vanity,
And embrace peace, through humanity.

Wars make children so much tougher,
Lose their innocence, while they suffer.
We should fight for peace instead,
Love not war, we should spread

Senator Chuck Schumer's daily meditation

Senator Chuck Schumer saying that there is a need to strangle Palestinian people economically until they agree with Israel does not help. It further hurts the chances of peace .

Ten Commandments and Israel today

The following video is a little over 6 minutes but worth watching. It is a montage of two videos and my own minor additions. I am not a religious person but since Israel’s foundation is on Judaism, I thought that bringing in the 10 commandments would be very relevant.

A gentleman has been coming on my blog and leaving extensive comments, reasonably polite, but insisting that Israel is right and Palestinians and other Arabs are wrong and the whole world is wrong and only Israel is on the right path. It is this gentleman who motivated me to do this video because I watched with horror what Israel did in 2008 and 2009 and the whole world sat on the sidelines.

In Ten Commandments what Judaism teaches is peace and Israel is doing quite the opposite. Israel carried out mass killing in 2008/2009 in Gaza and Lebanon. It carried out killings before this, and it continues to do so to this day. Gaza is like a concentration camp as some world leaders put it. Rev. Desmond Tutu called the treatment of Palestinians apartheid and a Jewish British MP said that Israel was behaving like Nazis see my earlier post

Israel is building settlements on land which belongs to Palestinians. That is definitely not the way to peaceful co-existence. When you take other people’s land and homes there will be reaction. Just think of it this way, if your neighbour plants a bush a few inches on your property how would you react? Now think of that neighbour taking over your home and pushing you into the shed. And then build a huge fence around that shed to keep you imprisoned in there. It is this kind of injustice that the Israeli government is perpetuating on the Palestinian people. As long as that goes on there is a very little chance for peace. Israel must obey UN resolutions and pull back to pre-war 1967 boundaries. This is essential for peaceful co-existence. The two state solution will be the solution and even leaders in Gaza have said, including Hamas, that they will fully recognize the existence of Israel if this happens. Those actions are needed for the sake of Israel, for the sake of Palestinians, and for the sake of peace.

Helen Thomas on Israel

Does she have a point? Her point seems to be that Hitler is long gone and dead and that the world has eliminated Nazis, it is time that people settle back where they used to be – let all the Arabs whether Jews, Christians, or Muslims, live together in peace as they always did for centuries. And what is now Israel and Palestinian areas become one state.

CODEPINK Women's organization for Peace

One of my readers brought this blog to my attention. Codepink women's organization is doing an extraordinary job for peace. They are opposed to the brutal war in Iraq and opposed to Israel's brutal actions in Gaza against Palestinians and Arabs. The organization took the trouble to deliver a peace letter from Hamas to Obama in Cairo.

Click here to read the details.

Hamas was duly elected and if it would have been recognized then a lot of trouble and violence could have been avoided.

Quite frankly, the more I read about the Israel/Arab conflict the more I am convinced that Israel has been behaving like a deadly big bully in the region thanks to US help. It has too often carried out brutal slaughter of its neighbours. Gaza is a concentration camp and many have said so. It is encouraging to know that Obama has some prominent Jewish people in his close circle, including his chief of staff Rahm Emmanuel, who recognize the need for peace and are very much party to Obama's speech in Egypt where he expressed his displeasure at illegal settlements in the West Bank and expansion of settlements.

I should add that Obama's speech has finally put some water on the burning fire of anger against the US in the Arab world and the Muslim World in general. Bush and Cheney provided all kinds of fuel to such a fire. I believe that if previous administrations had the foresight of Obama there would have not been a 9/11 and there would not have been other acts of violence against the US. Obama must follow his words with actions now and I believe the US will be much more safe and so will Canada as well. History tells us time and again that you cannot bully people or nations forever. Israel has been on a wrong path for far too long.

Other nations and people must learn from it. Atrocities against the weak and the vulnerable have never paid off in the long run.
