China: America is a violent society and is guilty of severe human rights violations

U.S criticized China for human rights violations in a report. China prepared its own report on U.S which states that U.S is the most violent society in the world and human rights violations are very frequent in U.S.

“The United States' own tarnished human rights record has made it in no condition, on moral, political or legal basis, to act as the world's "human rights justice," to place itself above other countries and release the Country Reports on Human Rights Practices year after year to accuse and blame other countries. We hereby advise the U.S. government once again to look squarely at its own grave human rights problems, to stop the unpopular practices of taking human rights as a political instrument for interference in other countries' internal affairs, smearing other nations'images and seeking its own strategic interests, and to cease using double standards on human rights and pursuing hegemony under the pretext of human rights.

Has Harper Government sold out to China?

The Harper government has agreed to an establishment of a Telecommunications Company, Huawei, in Canada. Security experts in both Canada and the US are very concerned as China is known to spy through telecommunications.

Both the US and Australia had refused to China to make such an arrangement because of security concerns. However it looks it did not bother Harper government.

“The former head of U.S. counter-espionage says the Harper government is putting North American security at risk by allowing a giant Chinese technology company to participate in major Canadian telecommunications projects.”

“Even Canada's own intelligence agencies have warned the Harper government of the risks of throwing open the door to Chinese telecom companies.” CBC, The National

Stephen Harper's anticipated trip to China

In the past, Harper made a big deal that he would not meet Chinese leaders because of China's human rights record. Now he wants to follow the example of Barack Obama and visit China. What happened to human rights record now? Also we have joined the big league with the US on the issue of torture. The recent disclosure is that Afghani detainees are routinely tortured when handed over to Afghan authorities by the Canadian military. We can deny all we want, but what how are we going erase the evidence? Our own senior diplomat is saying that such torture exists in Afghanistan. Can we tell other nations now with straight face that their human rights record is not good? The Harper government is not even willing to do any further investigation into such allegations.
"The Canadian government is dismissing calls for a public inquiry into the alleged torture of prisoners handed over by Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan.
Defence Minister Peter MacKay defended his government Thursday in light of allegations that detainees were routinely abused.

"There has not been a single, solitary proven allegation of abuse involving a transferred Taliban prisoner by Canadian forces," MacKay said in the House of Commons.

His comments came a day after Richard Colvin, a former senior diplomat with Canada's Afghan mission, dropped a political bombshell on Parliament, alleging that suspects handed over by Canada to Afghan authorities were tortured."

Barack Obama in China

He is showing a few dance moves to the President of China, Hu Jintao. It is not clear what the mission of this visit is. One thing is for sure, China is an economic and military power to reckon with. It may be the super power in the world down the road. China has shown the US that unbridled capitalism could fail and does fail miserably. Also, China is the biggest lender to the US government – a sum of $800 billion. And it may be that it owns a lot of Wall Street too.

The US has shown that unchecked capitalism can bring disastrous results. The US or the West cannot and should not copy China for the central control; but extensive regulations are needed to keep off the Bernie Madoffs of this world. Bernie Madoff was one of the many symptoms of the failing US economy. If all humans were angelic then we would not need regulations and unbridled capitalism may work but unfortunately the reality is quite different. As a matter of fact, if humans were angels then we wouldn't even need government, police and laws. Since humans are humans we need government, we need police and we need good regulations to control and guide capitalism and markets.

A Day in China

Stockwell Day has no problem visiting China now. Not long ago, he and his boss Harper were harping about the poor human rights record in China. Now, suddenly, it looks that the violation of rights slate has been wiped clean in order to increase trade with China. After all, China has over 1.5 billion population and is the largest country in the world by population. Also, it is a fast growing economy. For Harper and Day, now that there are hard economic times, it is time to set aside the human rights facade.

Who are they kidding? Does anyone believe that Harper and his underlings believe in human rights and that they are champions of human rights? It was some ego problem Harper had when he first ran into the Chinese leader. Yeah they are "spreading human rights in Afganistan" and if you believe that I will sell you the CN Tower. Sorry Flaherty is already selling that, so I will sell you Confederation Bridge which links New Brunswick and PEI.

Then of course when Harper was Right/Wrong Honourable leader of the opposition, he full-heartedly supported the Iraq war. That must be a record breaking human rights promotion, over 100,000 Iraqis killed and the mayhem has not ended yet. Then more recently Harper backed Israel to carry on murder and mayhem in Gaza. If they are champions of human rights, then who needs humanity. I suppose if the Tar Sands continue to develop at the current speed then Harper, and now Iggy, have contributed towards ending humanity. Yeah human rights in abundance – talking about charades.

Hillary Clinton in China

One of these days Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will shake hands with the Chinese official Dai Bingguo and US relations with China will be normalized. Until such time we must all hold our breath?

The sooner the US realizes that it is no longer the financial and military power it once was, the better it will be for the world. Once the US learns to deal with the Asian countries at an equal level as partners, we may have better world. Until such time, US hands may be open and extended but they will remain empty.

Whitehouse for Sale...

...and sold to Hu Jintao of China. The way China is buying American companies and lending money to the Bush administration, it can own the US in the foreseeable future. China can conquer the US without firing a single bullet, it's called the financial nuclear bomb.
