So Pete is even older now too. His Birthday is only 4 days after mine and after such a big weekend we decided to just stay home. His request for his birthday dinner was Aebelskivers a family favorite! We usually only have them on Christmas morning but birthdays work also. He bought himself new Makita drills for his birthday and has been putting them to good use putting in new duct work in our basement and 3rd unfinished bathroom. I'm glad he got himself something he wanted and is so useful;) Happy Birthday Babe! We love you so much.

I got my first Aebelskiver pan this year for Christmas and had not used it yet. I had so much fun seasoning it and getting it ready to use for the first time. I need all my pans to be cast iron it's just so nice.

So I'm old now. I had a great Birthday weekend though. Pete and I ran away to Salt Lake City on my actual Birthday. We went to his cousins wedding and we had a really nice time. Then we stayed the evening in Salt Lake. The next morning we woke up and went to Blue Plate Diner for Breakfast. It's this way kitschy place with great food. Good American style food, I had the Country Corncakes with Bananas, and Pete had biscuits and gravy both served with fresh skillet Potatoes. It wasn't healthy per say but local and made from scratch with great ingredients. It was awesome. When Pete and I get alone on trips we love to search out locally owned food joints with character. It is one of our favorite things to do together. The Blue Plate Diner was a win and we loved it. If you do decide to go though go early it gets really busy quick! We then spent the rest of the day shopping and then headed home.

Then we continued our little weekend with the kids on Presidents Day. We headed back up to Salt Lake to Trolley Square. I found a new perfume at Whole Foods that I bought myself with my Birthday money, I love it. Then we headed back down towards home and hit up our favorite restaurant in Pleasant Grove, CHUBBY's! Don't be put off by the name they have great food and really good deals. On Monday for each paying adult you can get two free kids meals with a coupon they send out in the local mailer. We made the connection last time we were there that Parker's friend Maddy's family owns the place so now we have even more reasons to support their tasty food!! As you can see there is a pattern here, we love local food joints, weird yes but true.

Grizzlies #1

This last week Pete's school Timberline took first place in their district for Basketball. We had so much fun going and watching the games and cheering them all on. The championship game was so exciting and close the entire time. At one point they were down by 10 but came back to win the game. Pete has so much fun coaching these boys!

GO GRIZZLIES #1

Parker was so into the game. He was pretty tense the entire game. Just like his father. Hannah on the other hand could have cared less and fell asleep on my lap. She was such a trooper.

Valentine's Day Continued

Family Gifts
This year I wanted to get each of the kids and Pete something small. For the kids I went with books, and homemade cards. No candy this year. They get enough from school.
They both loved the books they got. For Peter I gave him a magazine and lots of treats! He's an adult he control his own sugar intake and what else do you get a man on the cheap? He loved it also.

Pete like always surprised me with beautiful non rose flowers. He always comes up with the most unique flowers. I get excited every year to see what it will be.
They were amazing thank you honey!

It was a fun and simple mostly homemade Valentine's day around these parts and we had a blast.

The kids also got spoiled from Grandma and Grandpa.
Hannah received the cutest stuffed cupcake pet house thing. She adores it.
Parker got a new set of Charcoal drawing pencils, a sharpener, and clay eraser. He is becoming quite the little artist!! Thanks Grandma and Grandpa:)

Happy Valentine's Day.........Good Morning Edition!

The kids woke up to heart attacks on their doors. Pete and I decorated them the night before after they had both fallen asleep. Hannah was a little confused when she woke up about what to do at first, then she broke through and thought it was great. Parker instantly ran through his streamers without hesitation. Kids are so awesome. They are so amused with the little things in life like their doors being decorated with paper hearts. But as a child I remember my parents doing the same little things and it always meant so much and made me so excited and happy!

Then we all had a nice breakfast of Whole Wheat Pancakes, Blueberries, Turkey Sausage, and Orange juice. It's always a feat getting breakfast made and ready by 6:45 am. Pete leaves at 7 so if we all want to eat together our morning starts pretty early. But it's always a nice treat for us.

So long January...

Wow I Have so much to catch up on. So here is my attempt to do so. January absolutely flew by. Which for me is actually a blessing. These next few months are always a struggle for me. But this year with the really mild winter we have been having it has been a little different. I have been so busy it has just flown by. These days Hannah is my little sidekick. Today after school we decorated her hat for the 100th day of school tomorrow. She picked 100 mini marshmallows to decorate her hat. She had so much fun gluing all those babies on. She is so excited to take it back to school tomorrow.

With all the nice weather we have been having lately I decided to go out in the yard on Monday and do some much needed yard work. I pulled weeds. Dead weeds and New live ones. I was shocked at all the new grass and weeds I had growing. Even my mint is sending up new shoots. It felt so good to be out in the sun. While I was weeding my back flower bed I dug up an old rake thingy. Pictured above. It no longer had its handle and was just the head of it. It is completely rusted in other words perfect. Immediately upon seeing it I knew just what I was going to do with it. Some time ago I saw something similar on pinterest and then again on the Nate Berkus show. It wasn't something I thought about going out and trying to find but when I saw it there sitting in the ground I knew just where it was going in my kitchen. Now it sits above my apple crates and holds the only wine glasses I own that we only use on Birthdays and other special holidays to drink sparkling cider. But hey it works and it made getting out and weeding worth it! After I finished my yard work we even broke out the four wheeler and rode it around for a bit. Then I went inside and hung up my new wine glass holder. It was a beautiful day.

Another exciting project we have been working on is our 3rd unfinished bathroom. I would love it to look similar to the bathroom pictured above when it is finished. Hey a girl can dream. It is also my laundry room so I have lots of ideas of what I want it to be but non narrowed down yet. I still have a lot of time until it's completely finished. So far we have all the plumbing done and the electrical. This weekend hopefully we will install the fan and finish up a tiny bit of framing. Then the dry walling begins. I have never been so excited in my life to go buy dry wall,a toilet, tile, grout, sinks, and such. Going to Home Depot with the hubby just became a lot more fun!!

Toilet and Vanity plumbing. Isn't it a thing of Beauty!!

When that toilet is finally done it is going to be one exciting day for Parker. Right now quite often at night around 11:oo p.m. we hear Parker's frantic footsteps up the two flights of stairs as he tries to get to the bathroom. He always makes it but it sure will be nice for him to not have to run so far for those middle of night bathroom runs!

Shower faucet hook ups.
