June

We were so excited for June to arrive. We could play outside, and our garden started to really grow.

This is the treehouse that Kelly built for the kids. They love it, and I love that it isn't too far off the ground.

And of course, running through the sprinklers. I have decided that kids running through the sprinklers might be one of the cutest moments of childhood.

Stitches

June started with Carter getting a gash in his eyebrow. I wasn't downstairs when he did it, but he said that he was falling and while trying to avoid falling on the television, he hit the corner of the TV stand. We weren't sure at first if he needed stitches, but every time he raised his eyebrows, the cut would gape open. So in order to avoid an awesome scar, we took him in.

All the way to the Doctor's office we talked about being brave, but when he saw the needle, there was nothing that could get him to hold still. Eventually they wrapped him up so he couldn't move, and stitched him right up. After the initial poke, he held really still and didn't cry. He did great. I am sure this is the first of many stitches at our house.

Grand Lake

While in Denver we headed up to my Dad's condo near Grand Lake. It was soooo much fun and so beautiful up there. We also went fishing, and Carter caught his first fish:

Kelly caught his first fish in a long time. Compare the size of the two fish.
Carter ended up catching 7 fish (Kelly caught 3 of similar size). My dad kept casting and then handing the pole to Carter. He would tell Carter, "Here Carter you try, it isn't working for me." Then Carter would grab it and reel it in. Afterwards he said to my dad, "You aren't as good at fishing as me, are you?"

Below is the Elk that we saw in between the condos. The picture doesn't really show how huge it was.

We also took a small hike up to a waterfall:

We had such a fun time up there; we can't wait to go again. Thanks, Dad!

Trip to Denver

At the end of May we went to Denver to see Melissa graduate and to see our new niece Jadyn. The boys had so much fun seeing family and spending time with Grandma and Grandpa.

The picture below is Carter and Grandpa having a heart to heart about the big kids not being very nice:

There is nothing like seeing a brand new baby to help you realize that your own baby is growing up really fast:

Baby Jadyn:

Isn't she beautiful? It almost makes me want another baby...almost.

I was in the house with Deacon when I heard Carter laughing hysterically in the backyard. I thought, "Oh they are so cute. They have so much fun together." I went out to see my adorable boys. Eli looked like this:

You can't really tell from the picture, but his hair is full of dirt. Carter had been throwing dirt on Eli's head, and he thought it was the funniest game ever. Though Eli didn't seem that upset, I was.

And this is Carter in Time Out:

Deacon 8 months

Deacon is now 8 months old, and after months of trying and failing, he finally decided that he would allow us to feed him solid foods. My stubborn boy is happy as can be, as long as he gets what he wants, which is most of the time. He smiles at everyone, especially strangers. Deacon loves his brothers, being outside, and being upside-down. His hands are usually grasped together, fingers perfectly intertwined- I think he is praying that he doesn't get tackled or sat on by his big brothers.

Easter Egg Hunt

We had a lot of fun the day before Easter having an Easter egg hunt in our yard. We hid eggs all over the yard. We found that some of the kids were content to find just one or two eggs. Then they all plopped down on the floor and ate lots of candy.
