Taiwan Food - Restoran D'licious @ Manjalara (别不同台湾小吃馆)

We went to Taiwan last December and since then, we found ourselves miss Taiwan food a lot. That is why we went to this shop few weeks ago.

Taiwan Food Restoran D'licious @ Manjalara
别不同台湾小吃馆

the menu

my passion fruit drink, RM 2.90
hmm, this is nice!!

Ai Yue Jelly, RM 2.90
this one just normal lar..

FL's Dong Bo Rice, RM 8.90

which comes with the soup

can you guess what I ordered by looking at the big spoon?

I ordered a bowl of plain rice, RM 1.80

and the Szechuan Style Steamboat (四川火锅)
RM 13.90
Seriously, this is not very nice,
but got quite a lot of ingredients

Dumplings (水饺), RM 4.9
this is nice!!

I wanted to buy one of these cos my passion fruit drink is really nice! But after hearing the price, I decided not to buy. How much per bottle? RM 20!! expensive lar..

Our bill adds up to RM 41.27 which includes 5% service charge. To me I feel their snacks like dumpling are nice but the main dishes like rice and the steamboat is just normal. Nothing special.. I will visit this shop again, but I think I will only try their snacks next time.

Christmas Eve's Steamboat (at home)

When you have more commitments, you will start eating out less and celebrating less, like those Christmas lar, new year lar.. can be very costly if you eat out! For our case, we still hope to get the Christmas feel but we do not want to spend that much, that is why we have this.. steamboat at our house on Christmas eve!!

It's kind of weird to have steamboat at home for 2 person.. well, it's true, it's quite difficult to prepare too. If buy too much, cannot finish but if buy too little, it's like nothing much to eat.. hehe...

This is the 2nd time we used this steamboat, bbq pot since we bought it last year. what we have here? For bbq, we have chicken and pork marinate in curry powder, chicken and pork marinate in teriyaki sauce, and beef without marinate and also otak otak...For steamboat, we have fish balls, meat balls, abalone mushroom, vege, chicken, pork, beef, fish cake...

You may think it's not that much of food but it's really A LOT. We were not able to finish all these food!! hehe...After having this steamboat, we told ourselves not to have steamboat again in the near future but few days later we had steamboat again at FL's house.. hehe..really no more steamboat for this year. :)

Restoran Ketam Steamboat Seafood @ Kepong Manjalara (吉胆鱼村海鲜生锅)

Before I moved to Kepong, a lot of my friends told me Kepong is famous of their Bak Kut Teh and Steamboat. Well, I've tried the famous Bak kut teh (Ka Ka) and it taste quite good, but steamboat? So far i tried two different steamboat restaurants (Ho Ho Steamboat Restaurant (好好海鲜火锅之家) @ Manjalara, Restoran Hao Ji Seafood Steamboat(好记海鲜火锅) @ Kepong) but I don't feel it's that nice. I asked around and realized I went to the wrong steamboat restaurant!

So which one is the best? According to some of my friends, the best steamboat in Kepong is at the Manjalara. I went to seek for it and realized there are a lot of steamboat restaurants there, but only one with LOT's of ppl, so i guess, this is the one..

Restoran Ketam Steamboat Seafood @ Kepong Manjalara
(吉胆鱼村海鲜生锅)

I was there on Tuesday at about 7pm+. There are a few tables occupied and guess what, 10 minutes after i placed my order, the restaurants is FULLY occupied. WOW!! Luckily I was there 10 minutes earlier!! My friends also asked to me to try the chicken wings, MUST try.. so I ordered 2 pieces of chicken wing. (that chicken wing boss really action wor.. maybe business really good!!)

2 pieces of chicken wing, RM 2 each

The chicken wings really taste good but the best is the chili sauce!! Wow, no wonder the boss can be so action lar. Almost every table will order chicken wings from him!!

two types of chili..

red one a bit sour, green one a bit sweet.
i prefer the red one..

we ordered the set for 2,
RM 14.80 per person

as for the soup, we asked for 'yun yong',
chicken soup + tom yam soup

both soup taste great!!

not sure can we say dowan this.
it's RM 0.30 each!!

So with the set, the drinks (we ordered a pot of chinese tea, RM 2.30), the towel and 5% gov tax, our bill = RM 32.50!! Is this the famous steamboat in Kepong? I hope it is lar, even it's not, i enjoyed my meal here. Will definitely visit this steamboat restaurant again!!

Ho Ho Steamboat Restaurant (好好海鲜火锅之家)

Quite a number of my friends told me Bandar Sri Menjalara got a few steamboat which is very nice. They did not specifically tell me which one is the best, but I guess we can know which one by seeing the amount of the customer visiting the shop.

I decided to go try the one beside the UOB Bank @ Menjalara, the Ho Ho Steamboat Restaurant (好好海鲜火锅之家).

chili quite nice, but not spicy enough..

set for 2 person, RM 13 per person
hmm, so many fu zhok..
where's the prawns and fish?

oo, it's here...
small prawns..no wonder cannot see lar..

meehun & yee mee + 2 eggs

only one type of soup, no tom yam..

towel, RM 0.30 each

The total bill = RM 28.60. Hmm, taste normal, very thirsty after eating. A lot of fu zhok .. nothing special, don't think will visit again.. guess i've picked the wrong steamboat shop. You know which one is nice?

Steamboat and BBQ at my house!

I promised I will tell you guys whether the steamboat and bbq pot nice to use or not. Well, so far so good lar.. not too bad, but one thing is the steamboat quite slow in heating, other than that, everything is ok lar..

here's what we have for steamboat and bbq, quite a lot of things for 4 person lar. hehe.. got crabs, prawns, fish, meat, chicken, wan tan, sotong, meat ball, fish paste, vege, mushrooms, kimchi, seaweed, chivas and many more. and of cos, we were not able to finish all these food, hehe, too much lar..

One thing not good having bbq is that your whole house will become very smelly and sticky. hehe.. I think I should not on the fan while having bbq lar.. But overall it is still an enjoyable meal. Go get one lar, if you like steamboat too. Eating at home is much more fun than eating outside, erm, except the preparing and cleaning up part. hehe..

Finally.. I got myself a BBQ Steamboat Pot

After search high and low, left and right, to all hypermarkets (carrefour, giant, tesco), finally I managed to get a BBQ Steamboat Pot.

BBQ steamboat Pot, RM 178

after surveying around, I finally decided to get it in Carrefour, their one more expensive, RM 199, but it seems like it has better quality. Who knows when i go Carrefour to buy it, they told me no stock. Then I went to Giant, to get the RM 188 one, but only realized the one in Giant doesn't allow me to control the heat. ~sigh.. so end up go Tesco to get this for RM 178.

So nice to use or not? Don't know yet, later will use it. Then only let you guys know lar. hehe..

Is this the famous steamboat shop in Kepong?

There are quite a number of steamboat shops around Kepong. Which is nice? Ppl said the one with the word 'ketam' is nice.. I'm not sure whether which exactly is the shop, but this shop got the word 'ketam' and there's a lot of ppl, so i guess should be this gua. hehe..

Restoran Hao Ji Seafood Steamboat
(好记海鲜火锅) @ Kepong
did i go to the right shop?
the famous steamboat in Kepong?

There was really a lot of ppl, we were there at about 7+ and we're lucky to get the last table. Izzit becos of the rainy day or becos this is the famous steamboat? hehe, i have no idea.

half tom yam, half chicken soup.
tom yam taste not bad..

besides the soup, the chili is also
very important when eating steamboat.
This chili is nice, spicy enough!

This is for 2 person.
the things they give
is a bit less if compared to
other steamboat shop. vege also little bit only..
but all the stuff are quite fresh.
i like the fish..

as usual, 2 eggs + meehun + yee mee

The total of our bill = RM 27. RM 12.50 per person for steamboat and we ordered chinese tea, RM 2. Hmm, the food are fresh, the soup are ok, but there's nothing very special about the shop. Perhaps this is not the famous steamboat shop in Kepong?

Sushi Station (Steamboat BBQ Buffet) @ Kepong

I've always wanted to try out this sushi station
whenever i passed by the shop when
i'm on my way to Carrefour. I didn't know it serves
all you can eat bbq/steamboat buffet(RM 18.80+ per person),
i thought it's just another Japanese restaurant.

The woman (should be the lady boss) is a rude lady. We was not being greeted nicely by her, instead, she stared at us, and she sounds like warning us, 'ei, here eat buffet one, u know rite?' I looked at her, wow, what kind of customer service is that. The outside of the shop and the inside of the shop looks entirely different. Outside looks quite nice right? Inside the shop were dim, packed and without any renovation. Looks a bit 'ngap tap'! Anyway, our seats were at the corner of the shop. The minute we sit down, the woman asked us, wat you want to drink? Hey!! you haven't show us the menu also, how am i suppose to know what kind of drink u serve??

After asking us what to drink, she handed us this piece of paper.
Again, she talked to us with her unfriendly tone
together with the black face.
W: got come before?
J: No.
W: ok, refer to this menu, circle on this paper.

we will served u. understand?

J: ok.
W: circle 1, 2, 3, understand or not?

J: ok ok.

W: if the food is nice, you can order again.
the most
important thing is,
DON'T WASTE FOOD!!!!!!!

J:.... (got ppl talk to customer like this one ar?)
We can order sushi, tepanyaki, tempura and etc with this piece of paper.

our green tea, free flow. RM 1.50 per person.
the small little cup very cute and nice.

there's this thing on each table.
This is the first time i see this.
the top part is to bbq, surrounding it is
for steamboat.

the oil, soy sauce, chili sauce and etc.

one is chili sauce, another one is
some sauce mixed with ginger.
both also not nice!!

one of the sushi we ordered. the sushi is
much smaller compared to those that we
normally eat. doesn't taste very good.

rice taste like normal white rice. when you lift
the sushi, the whole sushi falls apart.
very no skill! luckily the seaweed is fresh!

the beef tepanyaki. no no, this is not the left
overs. This is wat they served us.
very small portion and not nice!

the dori fish tepanyaki. only 3 pieces!
luckily only 3 pieces lar, cos it's not nice too!
we did order some the chicken tepanyaki but
didn't take photo lar, all looks the same.

There's a small corner for customers to
choose what food they want for
their steamboat. There were limited choice,
all basic steamboat food like
the abalone mushroom, fish balls,
prawns, vege and etc.

beef, chicken & hotdog.
the marinated beef & chicken
taste quite ok.

so this is how it looks nice,
bbq on top, steamboat surrounding it.

they only served one fruit, which is the
water melon.

lastly, the ice cream.
top one is corn, bottom one is green tea.

peach & vanila.
peach looks geli right, hehe, but it's the best
among all!

So this meal took us RM 44.66. RM 18.80 * 2 for the eat all you can bbq/steamboat buffet, RM1.50 * 2 for the free flow green tea and 10% service charge. Hmm, if you never been to the shop, you probably can go try it out, as for me, I think i won't go again lar. :p
