New Post

I think it is time to waste more time and finally post something on the blog. I have an adoption final that I should be working on, but instead I will tell you of a horrible experience that happened a few days ago. My wonderful wife was part of the planning committee for the Ward Christmas party. It was all going very well until she asked me if I would sing. I hear you sing every Sunday and you sound good she said. Well I was never a good singer, in fact I was the only Jones Boy not to be in Teen Tones(Taylor) or Acapella(Mesa High.) It had also been 17 years since I had sung in front of anyone. Royal Caribbean Karaoke nights excluded, cept that will factor into this story I am sure. I was to sing with three other guys who could carry a tune and would be able to sing. They were in the Ward Choir, I would be fine. Well we practiced one time and it did not sound too bad, then they decided to start singing parts and doing weird things to the song. Well long story short we pretty much got booed off the stage. It was bad. Real bad, worse than Ashley Simpson at any live venue. It was very similar to the time I got booed off the stage on a Royal Caribbean Karaoke night. "He ain't heavy he's my brother" is not the right song to sing in front of drunk people. Anyways, other than that the Ward party was great. Lindsay got to sing in front of the same people and she did great, but then again she was in Teen Tones.
Okay now to the adoption Final. Wish me luck.

HOW CUTE!!!!!!!

Our daughter is sooooooo cute. So cute in fact that even Smeagol, or Gollum for the unwashed masses, think that she is precious.

Who gets to be the bad guy??????

So every six months or so, my dear wife, whom I love more than life it self, decides she wants to take the kids to PetSmart and show off the pets. This latest bout of pet envy was brought on by Austin finding a turtle in the middle of the road and showing it off to all the other kids who live in my house. I heard about how cute this reptile was and how much fun it would be to own a pet. Lindsay looked up on the internet how much trouble a turtle would be and she decided to make stew. Just kidding, we don't live in New Orleans any more. The today all I heard about was going to PetSmart to look at pets. Just look right? Right!!!!!!
I try to deflect the invitation. I bring up how heavy it is raining and there is a flash flood warning outside. A warning is worse than a watch you know. Well nothing worked. I also knew that I would have to be the voice of reason in this debate. So I went, and I did in fact have to be the voice of reason, much to my chagrin. All my kids think I hate animals. I don't really hate them, it's just that I don't want one living in my house and peeing everywhere. They are dirty, stinky, and their hair gets everywhere. So I had to tell all four of my talking children and my wife, who were standing in cat vomit on the floor of the cat cage, that we were not getting a cat or a dog or a lizard or a chilupa or any other animal. We were just there to look. Much like a zoo. So how did I get the kids to love me again. I took them to a frozen custard place and bought them whatever they wanted of course. AHHH the life of a father.

Summer Activities 2010

Austin played baseball this summer. He liked it and learned a lot. He played shortstop and pitched! He was great! We also have had fun swimming and going bowling!

My trip to Az. with Charlotte!

I drove back to Az. with Krista to spend a week with my family with only the baby. On the way, we stopped at the Oklahoma City Federal Building Memorial. It was really pretty. While in Az., I got to spend time with my sisters and thier kids, and visit my Aunt and Grandma, and see other family and friends! It was great, but not enough time!

July 4, 2010 Charlotte's baby blessing!

While Krista and Dan were here we blessed the baby on Sunday! It was so nice to have family share this baby blessing with us. Charlotte looked so beautiful! She wore the dress that my niece, Hailee wore (Krista's daughter) and Jillian had worn it too for her blessing. We are going to pass it to Tiffany for her baby girl too!

The Montgomery's Summer Visit!!

My sister, Krista, and her husband, Dan, and their four kids came to visit for two weeks! Dan and Kirsten, their oldest, had to leave after one week, but we managed to squeeze a lot in during that time! Now I had lots of helpers with the baby, and my sister did the dishes and laundry!! We had a great time! We went up to Omaha to go through the Temple and the visitor center. Then we went to the zoo there!! Hands down, this is the coolest zoo we have ever been to. It is humongous! We were there for almost 4 hours and only saw about half of it. It is totally worth the three hour trip to Omaha! (so is the Temple!) We also went to Missouri to tour the church sites there. We did our own fireworks at our house and everyone had a blast. We were planning on going to the lake, but it was raining! After Kirsten and Dan left, Krista and I just took the kids bowling and to see a movie. Stephen had gone back to work. The baby and I drove back to Az with Krista and the kids. Austin cried when we left because the cousins were leaving, not because of me leaving. Jillian didn't cry because she knew she was going to get to do a lot of fun things with Stephen. Benny cried until Daddy said, "Let's go get donuts!" Derek cried a lot. I told him he could call me anytime. He took this literally. It was not too bad of a drive. The baby did better than I thought.

Charlotte Mckenna

It's about time, huh?!!! My Mom and Dad came into town when Charlotte was born for 10 days! It was wonderful and a big help. The kids had a great time with them. And I didn't have to do any laundry or dishes! I was very scared for reality when they left. My Dad had a great time constantly feeding and cleaning up after the kids! Yes, Dad they do eat all of the time!! Ha Ha!
