Yesterday was our 4th Anniversary! We have had a great 4 years! Jon still had to work, although he did contemplate trying to get it off to spend the whole day with me. That is cute. My parents came over and tended Nathan while we had a wonderful evening out. We went up to the Cheesecake Factory, and we did decide to stay and wait. It was about an hour wait, but we didn't have Nathan, so we figured we could wait it out. We talked about our most memorable moments in the last 4 years, and we both agreed it would have to be Nathan! He is screaming for joy at this very moment. He is such a funny kid! He is so cute these days. He is saying lots of things. He says 'ball' and 'mommy' the most. He also frequently says 'please', 'thank-you', 'yes', 'no', 'uh-oh', 'amen', 'binkie', and 'shoe' (which is my personal favorite). His common phrases are: 'I want that', 'I want down', I want out' and 'want some'. There is a lot of wanting going on. But it is nice that he can communicate. It makes things easier when I actually do know what he wants.
Jon gave me an awesome anniversary gift! He got me a heart rate monitor that I have really been wanting. I know it sounds silly, but they are kind of expensive, and the monitor on my treadmill is totally not cutting it. I LOVED using, and enjoy working out a ton more, because it seems easier to challenge myself. It shows me what my target heart rate should be during my workout depending on how hard I want to work. It's awesome!!
It was a very nice anniversary, and Nathan loved having time with Grandma and Grandpa. They give him tons of attention, and he loves entertaining them. Jon and I also talked about what we learned about each other, that we didn't know before we got married. I told him that I never thought that he would be ready for a second child before me. But he has been ready for a little bit now, and I am still adjusting to the idea. Mostly the idea of being pregnant again. I am having a hard time not being selfish, and being ready to give up my body, my sleep, my appetite, and my sanity for another 9 months, and about 9 months after that to recover. I wouldn't trade Nathan for anything in the whole world!! But you definitely make continual sacrifices for your children. Especially for the first 6 months or so of their life, it seems that you don't have ANY free time. You are feeding, sleeping, changing diapers, comforting crying babies, loving adorable sleeping babies, and crying because you are more tired and overwhelmed than you have ever been in your life. But I'm sure it is much easier with the 2nd child. :) Honestly, I have really struggled knowing what to do about this situation. You can leave a comment if you have any suggestions, about how I can more easily enjoy letting go of my body and my free time, and all the rest. I know it is totally worth it, but I so dread being pregnant again... let me know if you can help me!!
Well, I love Jon more than ever, and we are anxious and excited to spend the rest of eternity together!!
